 Everyone needs a 3080ti and 3090. When my notify popped for the 3060, I sold to a family friend exactly what I paid for it. 

Hi all. New member here. I really want to get my hands on a 3080, and read it would be best to be an Elite member. Tbh i don't have any EVGA products to register. Instead of me spamming a 100 chats, is there a cheap product i could buy to become a member. Thanks in advanced.

Off the top of my head, I don't recall if there's a $ amount to get elite status.  I got it through the registering a "qualified product" or products.  If you wanted to try for it, you could buy a PSU that is EVGA and register it.  The advantage would be if, say, Nvidia released a 3080 Super or 3070 Super or 3060 Super card you could get a 24-hour jump start in the queue.  The $1000 price point is open as is the $650 price point as is the $350 price point.  Or, the a Super model could replace its original at the original price point.  If you're eligible for Elite status, there's a little gamesmanship to play in that you would want to wait for a card to come out, claim the status right before, then you'd likely have a discount coupon to use as well.  HTH.

I agree that at this point having elite is nothing that could benefit you.  The Ti series has been launched already.  I'm not sure Nvidia or EVGA is going to launch anymore 30 series card now we are nearing the half life of the generation.  Your best bet would be to do the shuffle thing and hope to get lucky.  If possible, I'd say go for every EVGA card you can.  Purchasing the EVGA card through new egg and other recognized resellers allows you to enter the step up program.  There is a page and a forum dedicated to that.  It allows you to trade up to a card you want if you meet the requirements.  It's a good program, but the 3080 step up is pretty far behind.  If you wanted a 3070 or 3090 then the wait is about 2-3 months once you enter the step up program.  
 
You can do the best buy or microcenter campouts/F5 battles but those are really tough too.

I just got back Monday from a 13 hour drive (each way) to see my 87-yr-old mom for the first time since September 2019.
Got lucky enough to spend almost 24 hours with her total. We normally make the trip 1-2 times per year, but, you know - Covid. This one was special.
Enjoy your time with her!

Thank you both (and everybody that posted earlier).  It was a long trip for just a little over an hour with her...but worth it.  Totally worth it.

But, I just couldn't use the 20% off code with me very close to getting a notify on some GPUs -- 20% off of those is much bigger than 20% off of a $280 psu.  So, I used enewt's associate code and still saved 10% which is nice.

Regarding today, I had a relatively uneventful on the road to see my daughter's grandmother (no wolves interrupted the journey)...which was nice. It sounds like it was also a mostly uneventful day on the queues...not so nice.  
 
I would be remiss, however, if I did not acknowledge with the passing of this week, that many of us have been in the queues for nine months now (although for the first few weeks of that period (i.e., pre-October 5 retro-active queue announcement) we weren't even aware a queue had formed). Speaking personally, I can hold on for my preferred card for a bit longer yet, but please don't make me wait the full gestation period of an elephant...after all, I am but a meager amphibian and my patience is limited to the incubation period of a swallow (African or European swallow?...I don't know...ahhhhhhhh...!).  
 
We go again on Monday.
