Users Shammy and Andre Yang are now the top scores with RIVE and Titan. Looks like Asus needed to throw their weight around again for the top space.

I am hoping the features of the bios will bring something new to the table. Not really expecting much of a performance increase going from the x58 970 combo to a x79 3930k combo. I want a solid motherboard without any problems that supports room for the future. The x58 classified motherboards has been far better then I ever thought it was going to be, and I can only ask that the Dark be half as good (but I wouldnt mind better) Everyone is saying buy the RIVE but I really dont want to buy a one year old motherboard, and that is why I hope EVGA brings something new to the x79 chipset. I also really do not like the look of the RIVE

you guys, beating the RIVE drum, read newegg's revieiws on that item. I see just as much DOA's/ bent pins and stuff on that board. Although looks like mostly physical damage and turnaround time on RMA is HELL. but there are some unhappy folks with that board also. Our only hope is the Dark board is more stout. make no difference what a temporary OC a board can do. it what is does 24/7 in your box that counts, IMHO.

Please check the reviews from competent sites. ALL mainboards have returns due to DOA/bent pins etc. Those are NOT the issues that users have with EVGA X79 boards and I think you know that. All it takes is one glance over the threads. I am sure if you went through what we did, you would have a VERY different outlook. Right now, the RIVE is the best X79 board out there, period. I hope that the X79 Dark hits a home run, but until we see it, I am skeptical. I dumped my Classy (which is now in my closet) for another Asus board and I couldn't be happier with it. Oh here's something you might enjoy: Look at the price for an EVGA CLassy board right now, it's around 250 bucks. They can't GIVE these boards away. On the other end, the RIVE is barely in stock at places and still commands a $450 price tag. Your "cheer-leading" for EVGA's bad mainboards isn't fooling anyone.

Sorry, I really did want to stick with EVGA *edit* ..oh gah, I made the mistake of reading Newegg reviews again.. so many bad RIVE reviews, and crap support. *sigh* hmm.. and at Newegg the EVGA X79 is almost half price lol..

Wasn't cheerleading any manufacturer. Just pointing out not all are perfect when dealing with electronics. If the Dark Fails to deliver, trust me. I will be in line for the RIVE board.

As a gamer. What is $1250 in a new motherboard (RIVE), CPU 3930K, and Corsair Platinum ram going to give me over my 970 and classified 3? If someone can make me justify it I will order right now.

I realized that I have had my e759 since 2009!!!!!!! and my bench scores are right with the latest and greatest. I want to buy new hardware so bad, but it just seems like such a waste. moving from my 790i sli utra motherboard to the x58 was a HUGE jump in perfomance. X58 to X79 is much smaller.

Might explain a few things... Yes, Shammy = Shamino. Shamino is still very helpful, just over on the ASUS forums where he works now. Not sure if he was a mainboard designer for EVGA, but he was a part of the mainboard team. He's a BIOS programmer, and one of the best at that. EVGA lost a lot when he left after X58 was released, for whatever reason, and their BIOS's have never been as good since.

That's a newegg thing, and Asus packaging issue. When it comes to GPU's Asus is pretty top notch and gives you caps and crap for all the plug ins and pins for a GPU. On the MOBO side they do a good job but it isn't great. No cover for the MOBO (antistatic bag), some mobos come with and some don't a CPU pin cover, etc etc. I've heard some horror stories where used products are sold as new by NewEgg, shoe prints on the box where someone has walked on it, missing products inside where it was clearly not packed or stolen, broken products before leaving the warehouse and blaming the customer etc. Not MANY but its been heard of before.

If they waited for this motherboard to be "100% right" it would never launch. I quite honestly feel sorry for those of you that buy this. A year + of a broken product and still, over 1/2 the major issues aren't addressed. If this were a car, we'd have a class action lawsuit against the manufacturer and we would've won a long, long time ago with full refunds. Instead, here we sit, with broken product, that some of us purchased at launch for an inflated $400+...For a product, that still does //not// work as advertised. Bought 10 of them...Just replaced the 10th with a RIVE and my client, couldn't be happier. I will never buy another motherboard from this company, ever again until they do right by those of us that stood by them on launch, only for them to essentially throw it back in our faces. Good luck to those of you that decide, against all forms of common sense to make the jump and purchase this...May you not have the same experiences, we did.

Well I am sorry for your troubles, but there are still a lot of us x58 Classified users that have never had any problems at all, and if we did EVGA took care of us. That is why I would like to stay EVGA on my next build. I wish I could see the need to switch to a x79 board, but why leave something that is almost as powerful and has no problems. I am hoping this Dark boards is just what I am looking for.

He is talking about EVGA's X79 lineup, not X58. Their X58 lineup was incredible and unfortunately the last time we saw "greatness" in their mainboards. Although it has been stated many times, that is also the last time Shimano worked for EVGA on the boards. He is now with Asus writing their BIOS's. Any wonder why Asus's BIOS now is and has been the best in years? Until EVGA addresses these issues and settles the score with those of us who were literally screwed over with a $400-500 purchase, don't expect any nice words. Mine now sits in my closet until I can figure out what to do with it. You see what a new Classy X79 is going for these days new? Around 250 bucks.

My point was that my EVGA X58 boards is perfect, and I want to stay EVGA. I have not had a problem so I have not experienced what other X79 users have. I expect only the best from EVGA and that is why I am hoping the Dark is the answer.
