CAxVIPER rjohnson11 I'd like to share a Facebook response that Vince Lucido (a.k.a. Kingpin) made to me regarding the X79 Dark (Mnpctech.com Facebook page): "Robert i helped design this board to make a better x79 than previous teams e779 and i overclock with it everyday in the lab. Its a great board with a totally new bios. Its capable of some great things in 4 way. Stay tuned..." If he wasn't being given free stuff I might believe him. I will not be convinced of this until several dozen people have it and review the performance and not just for a couple hours of benching. You know he does write his own BIOS and crap for his GPU runs, hopping he did so some work on the X79 Dark to fix the issues they've had with the past line of MOBOs. Wonder if this is any indication that Ivy E will be on X79 since EVGA really is releasing this thing at the end of the game.

If Kingpin helped design this Board/BIOS with A NEW TEAM then I have a lot more faith then I previously did. I was going to buy a RIVE soon, but I think I'll hold off to see how this turns out. It is the perfect layout after all, and if the BIOS works like it should with no issues, and overclocks are all good it's a must buy for me.

KimbaWLion It has to work better than my FTW... I would hope so anyway! Since that has NEVER worked 100%
EVGA + BIOS = CRAP! The only good thing I have learned from all motherboards I had from EVGA, is that EVGA's RMA policy and speed is excellent. The rest, well let's just say it's "mediocre" at best, for the high amount you pay. On the other side; EVGA's videocards are great. My new system is not carrying a EVGA motherboard anymore, however I do still use their videocards.

One of the top overclockers in the world helped design this board!? I can read between the lines, where is the pre-order line?

I have a question, I see Manufacturers like Corsair bumping there voltageds to there memory Dimms back to 1.65v up from 1.5v. isn't this going to mess with the CPU's IM processing since they were designed with the intent for the lower voltages.? and is the new Mobo going to take this into account?

The motherboard has nothing to do with the Memory Voltage. That is up to the CPU and if it will like the 1.65, and not sure where you are getting that they are increasing CPU Vcore back to 1.65v, they still make RAM for 1.65v for older boards yet like the X58 P55 which do 1.65v

A while back, I read from an Intel rep that the CPU IMC has a tolerance of 1.5v +/- 5%. The memory kits rated for 1.65v can handle significantly higher frequencies upwards of 2400 MHz and with different timing options. However, the factory frequency for these processors is 1600 MHz and at this frequency, 1.5v or less is generally all that is needed. For 24/7 use, you may want to run a bit lower than 1.65v for VDIMM but for short term benching, your IMC may be okay at that voltage. On one of my x79 boards, I am running 1.35v Samsung memory modules rated for 1600 MHz CL11 @ 1.35v. The Samsung memory is known for overclocking very well and at low voltages. I am currently running 1600 MHz CL8 @ 1.35v and the memory will run at 1666 MHz with the same latency and voltage.

oh in reality, it make no sense to use the 2133 + memory kits since it takes the CPU's outside ofr the IMC tolerances??? Linusxrouter? Just curious. Starting to shop for the new build. Thanks Edit' found a good kits with the voltages and speed I wanted .

That's fairly chunky. Bit of a factor when fitting a top rad. Jacob what kind of height off the board is it? Higher than the ram filled dimm slots?

I like this board except one detail, that little LED is better in horizontal position. I have impression of one strong, dark/black board with modern red detail. This heatsink give that strong good look.... Angle 24pin is excellent like always, shield over ports and connectors are welcomed and before this board, heatsink cover 8+8 connector, new buttons for start and reset, 10 SATA Ports, switch for every PCIe slot, 4+4 place for RAM, 6pin for PCI-E on excellent place for cable management and heatsink cover CPU power cables... board texture is excellent...taste is different. Somehow I understand their design, it's much closer to me than other manufacturers only this board need to justify expectations. Because people are scary I understand... Instead of that this board is very nice. And I don't see from picture good but probably voltage reading place are compatible with their Probe IT Connector.

The light blue plastic PCIe slots ASUS use looks nasty cheap imho, some of the Biostars are fugly, and then there's a special place in the designer hall of shame for someone who puts out boards looking like they're made out of lego. You can't even begin to compare EVGA X79 Dark to something as visually offensive as these.. lmao.. (Zotac - link ) (Biostar - link )

I like the look of the X79 Dark. But, like I said before, are you looking at what's in your case or what's being displayed on your monitor(s)? Hopefully the "issues" that plagued the previous X79's are gone. I'll be waiting to read reviews on this site from the early adopters to see if it's infact, an upgrade to my X58.
