There's so much speculation, valid and driven by past experiences. This would probably be alleviated by a clear launch date and package price. What's the latest date?

The latest date? I'm not really concerned by a target date. I'd much rather have EVGA get this bad boy ready for prime time by being 99.99% ready as far as engineering goes. The heck with 'when it's gonna ship!'.

Johnny_Utah My Checklist: 1.) FULL 40 lanes 2.) WORKING Bios 3.) WORKING USB Ports (with no surge on hub port bs) 4.) PCIE-3.0 working in all slots If any of these are not met, it is a failure since Asus/Gigabyte/MSI/ASrock seem to manage to accommodate them. 100% Agreed. There is no excuse for releasing the board without everything on this list.

HarryD I like the look of the X79 Dark. But, like I said before, are you looking at what's in your case or what's being displayed on your monitor(s)? Hopefully the "issues" that plagued the previous X79's are gone. I'll be waiting to read reviews on this site from the early adopters to see if it's infact, an upgrade to my X58. A bit of both i would say

Yeah, I must admit it is a sad thing when I relegate my EVGA X79 FTW mobo to a folding box and get an ASROCK board for my main rig. I mean, seriously - an ASROCK does better than an EVGA board in the X79 bracket! ....my god, it's full of stars!... EDIT: I also really appreciate how the ASROCK board's USB3 ports work for keyboard/mouse DURING boot/BIOS use. Unlike the EVGA X79 board that you cannot do that with. Dang it, it's 2013 folks! WTH happened!?!?

There are times I WISH Abit was still around. They had GREAT Customer Service, as good as Evga for me, PLUS they had MBs as great as Asus without hassle when things when south... The funny ( in a sarcastic way ) thing about this is I ON PURPOSE waited 6-7 months before jumping on the X79 band wagon! I know that MBs and new tech takes a few months to get sorted out. I am NEVER the first one in line so speak! What hurts a lot out of this is I sound like a whiner, even though I am not. Even after upgrading me from an SLI to the FTW I STILL had three RMAs and that meant 3 tear downs and reassemblies! So EVEN if EVGA makes me a great deal on the Evga Dark, which they should at least consider, the OTHER part of me thinks it SHOULD be free since my board and even the one they upgraded me to DOES NOT work at 100%. I mean my first SLI was DEAD out of the box because of the #25 bios... How much is my time work worth let alone the FRUSTRATION? How many hours have I spent trouble shooting to eventually find there is NO fixing my minor ills that combined are a REAL pain... Even with a free Dark I STILL have to rip my machine apart, reassemble and then hope it work when I switch it on. My FTW X58 is sitting at my brother's place and he loves it to death as it replaced his rather aging Quad Core 6600, added some memory for him etc. It really is a hassle free board and we both I could NOT be happier because since I sold it to him and rebuilt his machine I have not had to service it ONCE!!! Even though my X79 makes my encoding fly LOTS faster I am jealous he has a 100% working machine with no hassles AT all and I who spend a lot of money and time do not... I really do think that is sad and unfair especially from a company I REALLY believe does care about its customers. I hope this plays out in my getting a new motherboard at a great price reduction or even free that works 100% so I can REALLY love my machine and enjoy it to its fullest! I am not one of those who has the best and fastest, I just the most stable while being really fast! Star Citizen is coming and I want to be ready for it, watch it be a Haswell that blows my x79 out of the water while costing less, that would be ironic in a REALLY bad way...

I don't care if Kingpin says it's the best board he's ever seen, he's a paid employee(consultant or whatever) in the end the bottom line will always dictate action here. EDIT: Obviously that's not to say it won't be good, but I wouldn't blindly trust EVGA with motherboards after the deluge of issues reported verified and still not fixed.

I imagine EVGA realize that for many people this board may well be a make or break in terms of credibility. Blow this, and it could take several series of flawless production before some are willing to give EVGA another shot as far as motherboards go. At least the GPU's still have a great name. I really hope EVGA get this one right. Stating the obvious here I guess.

Kingpin can't come out and say what he really think about a product. The only thing he will test is how well it overclocks, he won't test USB 3.0 or other features. I don't see a lot of people trusting review sites about evga X79 Dark, they will want to see what end-users (people who actually pay for the product out of their own pocket) have to say about it. Review sites don't test everything on a motherboard, most of them give the product lip service for the free sample they receive to increase web traffic.

Did that twice. not again. buying the extreme processors is not always the best thing.

And as they say records are MEANT To be broken. Looks like an Asus Owner had a point to prove... http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/6179877 Aside from all the my issues, I am NEVER EVER going to have the money for 4 titans etc. etc. That is a MORE than a small the chunk of my daughter's college tuition... If it makes ALL my USB 3.0 ports work, if it lets my PCIe 3.0 Radeon card work right, if my Nic does not overload when it I transfer large groups of files, and if the random USB port power surges stop as well as a few small minor things THEN I will be happy... I HOPE I am not asking for too much!

Kingpin doesn't speak for the year + that we've had arguably broken X79 classifieds. Now they release the Dark and because Kingpin is testing it, we're just supposed to forget about the past year of update failures? I'm sorry Rj but, that's no consoling to me, who sold 10 to clients and only 1 actually works...Doesn't work as intended, not by a long shot but, it works to the point of where the client doesn't care... Is the plan still for an April release EVGA? For what ever reason I have an ichy mouse finger and want to press buy now. I would hope to press that button on an EVGA product, so an update on the Dark would be much appreciated.

Last I heard was that it was scheduled for March/April, but it's looking more like April now. Itchy finger here too.. so close to grabbing the ASUS RIVE... trying hard to resist and wait to see how X79 Dark pans out..
