you will have to be on another batch. This one is completely spoke for. Thermal tape. 0.5mm? 1mm? I would suggest the tape, over just thermal paste. Lots going on by the cpu.

On the CPU and GPU you have a wide flat surface that is perfectly flat and you can get an attachment with less than .001 gap between the parts. In cases like these you use paste. On the VReg you have multiple components that are individually soldered to the board, with gaps and components in between. While they all may look parallel and flat, a closer inspection will show that they are not even close. Attempting to place a single flat block across them all will leave some with partial contact, or no contact at all. Paste does not work very well in cases where you have inconsistent gaps and is prone to flow out from between parts where there are larger gaps. This is precisely the reason that tape is used in these cases, it fills the gaps, transfers the heat, and will not go everywhere/anywhere.

excellent answer. Not much progress to speak of, but i am almost done with the plate. I expect to have some copper cut by the end of this week.

Checked the compatibility with the Primochill Revolver rigid fittings, and they are too wide to fit side-by-side on the chipset block. Sorry I don't have a pic to illustrate my findings, but basically the in-out ports are too close together for these wide fittings.

All fittings will be tight on the chipset block except maybe barbs. It really isn't an issue if you use an extender on at least one of the ports. ;-)

I switched to the RIVE Black Edition a few months after putting a deposit on the Dark block. Figured I'd offer it to someone else if they didn't feel like waiting for the next batch although it looks like you'll be able to crank out batch number two faster than the first. It's a nice block, even if I never use it I don't regret the purchase one bit.

So Compression fittings like the standard G1/4 3/8"O.D. from Bitspower won't fit on the chipset block? If so, how an extender will help? At least the ones Bitspower makes for their fittings are the same diameter as the fitting themselves. Wouldn't one of the I/O ports being further down (in between the space of the first and second card and making the block a little wider to compensate for the various card lengths help in making it more "universal" to fit existing components? I mean it's just on port and there seems to be plenty of space there. Another option, would be making the block design a little wider in the top area closer to the right RAM slots. The ports only needs a few mm's more of space between them to be able to use a wider variety of fittings and barbs.

Update: After finishing the taps, i finished the slotted bolt holes to bolt: Surfaced the fixture: Got the nicest face mill the other day. Sexy right? A wonderful addition which I am most happy to have. Thanks! Raw material is secured to the fixture and ready to start cutting today:

That is going to be a tough call. If it works, then great. If not, then you know what fittings work. The ones I listed also come in black.

See previous pictures in people's CPU blocks. That shape would not be possible as the mount for the CPU block with be in the way.

Okay, thanks for clarifying that out. I want to get an X79 Dark for my new build and get it 100% watercooled. I use bitspower compression fittings exclusively and like really clean looking loops with the less amount of bulky fittings possible so putting an extender or 90Β° extender to make the fitting fit is a bummer as the bend in the hose needed to reach the fitting this way in my head looks kinda fugly. :\

I don't have a supply of CPU waterblocks that I can try stuff out with. I have to try and make it as broad as i can. The Vreg block will work with anything. That was the original scope of this project. Then people here started asking to cool the chip. I said I would give it a try. So far it looks like people will be able to use it. let this first batch go out, and see what growing pains the first folks have. I know some people are pretty stubborn with fittings to make it look good. I may be able to get a little bit more room, but this batch has to go out as is. To give you an idea of the tolerances that I am working with, take a look at this photo: That 470 e33 chip (cap?) was making contact with the block. I didn't like it, so I had to adjust the block. here is a 1/2" ball bearing placed on for scale: That lip that contains the O-ring, is 0.018" thick. Eighteen thousandths of an inch thick. It is still strong, since the shape of it is an arch, and we know how successfully the Romans were with the arch. I couldn't bend it with my hands, so it will work fine. But that is some of the geometric tolerances that I am working on, on the left side of the block. I haven't messed with the right side since i have no idea what kind of CPU blocks people have. I would MUCH rather make a block that was more compatible with your CPU block, then have people be picky with fittings. Just makes for more happy people. I'll be at it for another hour or so until I call it a night if you guys have any more questions. The delrin is up next once I program the coding to correct the current batch to avoid that cap. Other then that it makes solid contact with the SB, and that chip below that LR23 inductor.

Not sure where you are getting that info from. most extenders are considerably narrower than the outside diameter of compression fittings. My koolance extenders are almost half the diameter of my koolance and monsoon compression fittings, only slightly wider than those barb fittings Nate listed, pretty much a given that all extenders will work unless they are rediculously wide ones which I have never seen. They will have the same G 1/4 thread but the outside diameter is no way near as wide as compression fittings. They will work just fine.
