the msi 780ti gaming card has been getting tons of praise over on overclock.net about how cool and quiet they run.

The issues with the classifieds are at 1.4v or more, which is used for benching, not gaming. When i do game i run my card at 1.35v and 1340 core with 0 problems, but since i didnt buy the cards to game, that doesnt really mean much for me. The classifieds are great for gaming atm, higher voltage than reference cards, great air coolers etc etc etc.

Atm i would have to say the msi gaming card is probably the best choice, though i have only used a msi 780 lightning and 7970 lightning from msi, so i dont have any hands on experience with their 780ti, but according to other users...

Well that's much better for my sake than calling me out for being a PC potato-head for not WCing everything.

In any case, I was even hesitant to buy EVGA however they seem to be a reputable firm for customer service and reliability. Asus has always been good, but I hear their CS these days is not up to scratch.

MSI is a company I have no idea about. I'll take a look at the reviews, but I'd feel safer going with a brand that stands behind their cards.

EVGA customer service is the best ive ever had, ive had to rma a few cards, a few psus and other stuff, not a single time have i been dissapointed in their customer service.

Asus ive only had to rma with once and it was a damn nightmare, never again will i buy anything from them except their highest of high end motherboards.

MSI RMA is pretty fast and fairly good, not as good as EVGA since actually getting to talk to someone seems non existant, its all automated on their website and through emails. I had to rma a 7970 lightning with them and it was fairly easy to do and i got a replacement in 3 days and they paid for shipping for me there and back but it felt very impersonal, i didnt get to talk to anyone at all except for a quick copy/paste reponse they emailed me that my rma was approved. But the end result was the same as evga, i got a new product fast and pain free, and it was quick.

This is why I'd spend the extra money $100 give or take, on a Classified/KP than settle for subpar Asus DCUII and less than stellar cx service.

But then I'd have to live with all the people that laugh at my stock acx cooling.

Id say buy a classified and run it at 1.25 to 1.3v on air and youll have more than enough power for any game out right now lol. i wouldnt go past 1.35v on air though.

I wouldn't even delve into the world of voltages, unless I was feeling brave (on air)
I think if I'm going to juice the card, I'd put it on water for peace of mind and common sense.

I was about to get the Asus GTX 780 Ti DCU II however, the temps are not characteristic of DCUII coolers, in this case the ACX is much much cooler on air
This is why I want to wait for this Kingpin, higher stock clocks and the same if not lower temps with ACX on air, and the cool factor

I just don't like the classified AF style fans, the SP fans look much nicer on the KP and probably cool a lot better at such a close distance
Asus DCUII Ti is a let down in my opinion, all that custom pcb work and subpar outcome

Maybe cool better but fans on normal Classified looks excellent.
I don't know but ASUS engineers could make one little mask over pipe on DCII, but they didn't remember to do that.
Their shrouds on hardware are not in my style at all, I see that with completely different eyes.
Did you hold in hand that Gaming model of card...  Something to give cheaper experience is very hard to make.
That's very hard to explain with words but fan is very silent.

ill be grabbing one day one to replace the current mess than is my normal 780ti classy, wont even run it on air once. Waterblocking it right out of the box first thing.

I wish I had proper watercooling in my rig. All I got is a H100 and as far as I can tell it isn't expendable.

plus it can barely handle my 3960X at 4,6 ghz at full load while folding.

I will probably go full blown beginning next year on my new rig with proper watercooling and **** and awyush so much hose. been watching some random videos and hng that corsair 900D...though I don't think it will fit under my desk tabletop.

Sempai when the day comes and I have water questions can I ask you?

Thank you alot. I just want like a proper overclocker/bencher/tech person to help me with my next build. my last build was setup by a computer store. It's a great store and the guy did his job. he was atleast smart enough to stop me from crossfiring 2 6990s.

Next I want a big ol case. powerful CPU(5960X or omething) with SLI/crossfire(depends on what Nvidia does)  GPUs with waterblocks. some nice rads and piping and just. a sexy looking setup with some lights cuz who doesn't like LED. Just watercool all the things.

I keep on seeing those rampage IV mobo watercooling parts from EK and I am just all "is it really neccessary to watercool the ****ing mobo?"

I want to throw money at this **** but not waste money for no reason.

lol :P well i and lots of others are here to help :)

its not really necessary to watercool the mobo unless youre pushing lots of volts through it on a socket 2011 board really, because they can get really hot if giving the cpu a heavy clock lol. I ordered some waterblocks for my rampage iv black because i got the cpu running at 5.1 24/7 and gonna try to 5.3 stable for bench runs.

Mmm maybe I should invest in those things I guess. I mean they don't cost bajillion dollars.

building it is gonna be a pain in the ass. sure I got a whole workshop at work but still I never build a PC from scratch.

Ps: you got skype or something so we don't spam EVGA and overclock?

To be on topic: I wish they would just release the cooler as add on for the normal classy.

It's pretty snazzy in my opinion

yes they indeed are, but he was asking about for purely gaming on air without overvolting. And in this area, they excel. I would never recommend one for anyone into benching lol.

You gonna be grabbing some kingpin cards gunslinger? I know i will be, patiently awaiting the release date hint hint evga.

I'd still rather "waste" the money to get the Kingpin, and have the option of going custom loop if I get the itch for benching, knowing that I have a far superior model than the MSI and that I require.

good thinking :P the msi would be good for gaming, but who knows, maybe you will get into watercooling and benching eventually. I used to only game and build my rigs for gaming, but now i do maybe an hour or two of gaming a week and benching the rest of the time.

It's like vehicles, sure I could buy a 4cyl or 6cyl model of the vehicle I want, or I could just go for the SuperSport model with the 5.3 L V8 and know that I have the potential energy to obliterate 90% of vehicles on the road (in this case games/other cards), even if I go from point a to b, it's way more fun with the OverKill Model

He means the nvidia greenlight garbage that is plaguing the current 780ti classified.

The 780ti classified is supposed to be able to do 1.5v, but it will black screen and restart your computer at anything over 1.4v because nvidia put overclock protection/overvolt protection into the cards, so basically they cant go as high as advertised in most situations for benchers.

yeah i was talking to vega about it over on OCN

it seems that a lucky few people have gotten cards that can do past 1.4v and see their cards true potential, while the rest of us are stuck with cards that will shut down once 1.4v has been reached.

this.

And since EVGA still doesn't know how to evade nvidia greenlight that means that
1. limited like the classified just binned chips.
2. Doesn't come out and gets cancelled(unlikely)
3. EVGA decides to allow hardmodding of the card to go past nvidia's greenlight.

Well, for these guys maybe the voltage "limitation" may be an issue, but for gaming and a mild overlock on air (initially, even if i WC I'm not going nuts), I don't think I'll run into any issues, and have a setup to bring tears to my co-workers eyes.
Man I love the SP style fans

For gaming a 780 ti would be more than enough. a classified/kingpin shouldn't be run stock or with a "mild" overclock. it should eat power. Especially the kingpin. It's sad how we won't be able to hit that "ermergard look at this worldrecord breaking" 1900ish mhz because of the voltage lock on the actual card for customers while EVGA still uses it as a advertising point. .

god I wish EVGA would just give a big middlefinger to nvidia for their greenlight **** and sell AMD cards too. A 290X classified with no voltage limit would be hot.

im not scared of hardmodding, so if the kingpin is locked down on the hardware level, im willing to void some warranties getting past it. I would have done it on the classy, but since the kingpins are coming out soon ill wait till i get one of those.

I'm sure a Titan is more than enough for gaming, I don't want more than enough, I want overkill

1900MHz, with no voltage limit only???. No, I think... you must to destroy few cards first and warranty and completely to destroy them and to prepare card good. OK she will not look on card after that at all but than customer can attack 1600-1700MHz and more.
LN2 and no voltage limit is not always enough for that. That mean who wish that NVIDIA voltage limit is never problem for such people no matter on architecture and limitation for normal customers.
But I can't see single problem why someone who love good hardware this card is not for him even if he keep on stock clock.
Maybe they didn't prepare card for such people but imagine someone want rather Kingpin name than NVIDIA name on PCB and card is not 300$ more and difference in fps is nice... I look only difference between GTX780 and GTX780 OC in Crysis 3 on 2560x1440 is 7 fps.
Someone who have 40fps example with GTX780 with this card can play easy on 55fps+.
And If she need more power on stock or mid OC that's max 50W. She can't eat power for nothing, something must to pull that.
And GTX780 Classified is on top with power consumption too...
