Will I be able to use the stock K|NGP|N backplate with an EK water block?? I normally run EK backplates when using EK water blocks, but from the pictures, I like the looks of the EVGA backplate a lot better. I also can't find anywhere that sells the EK backplate, other than direct from EK, and shipping is insane.

I suppose that's from case to case. EVGA have Hynix memory enough and time to test careful and choose best for Classified Kingpin.
I think difference between Samsung and Hynix shouldn't be more than 2-3% avarage. I hear MSI will put Samsung in GTX780Ti Lightening too but they talk about very small numbers of cards, I don't know is that true.
Hynix memory is excellent.

yes the hynix memory on my ti classy's are amazing.  right now one does 8600mhz and the other 8400mhz.  My 2 kingpins do 7300mhz and 7500mhz.  It's a huge difference in bench scores.

The last I heard MSI isn't going to put the 780 TI lightning in production.

I MEAN THEY SHOWED IT. but there are only 40 of it made or something and it wont go into production.

Anyone from Canada have experience ordering from EVGA? I know they have two shipping options, UPS Worldwide Expedited and UPS Worldwide Saver, is there any difference between the two other than shipping speed?

Has anyone got dinged badly for brokerage/other fees when the product is delivered? Would I get charged my local tax etc?

The shipping charge should include brokerage since UPS has it as a mandatory fee, so that's why you will see shipping cost ~$50 or so at least.

$132 UPS brokerage
I just ate it, 13% tax on 849.99 USD and they added $22 brokerage, I'm lucky they didn't convert it to CAD then charge me 13% tax
lucky they didn't charge me more
My package from corsair that was $140 total USD, they charged me $62 brokerage.......
So it doesn't scale right, and I'm so glad lol
whatever

So you got charged $132 on top of the $50 or so for shipping AND they also charged you 13% tax? Ouch if true.

Well that isn't reassuring.  So you paid a grand total of around $1100 or so correct?

I'm going to have to put more thought into it I guess if that's what I can expect.

It is in...

Now I have to speed up and finish the air-build, left to install PSU, add this card and do the cabling; then if few months moving to water.

Box of card is really is excellent, and card look excellent but mine GTX780 Classified look excellent too.
I will payed 765e + 50e.
It's not bad considering I live in country where shipping is not same as trade between EU Members.
Because card arrive in other town not in mine, in that price is everything and sending card to me.
I only need to send mail, send link what I want and they tell me how much that cost, if I agree I in first bank and pay first half on account and wait hardware, second half I pay when hardware arrive, I mean when delivery service bring me.

I sold my 780 Ti Classified within 4 hours of listing it. I just got lucky.

Well it's always possible that a classified might actually get a better chip than a kingpin thanks to the silicon lottery.

Do people simply look at the memory to know what it is,  or is there another way?   I will be benching mine prior to installing the waterblocks,  and just curious if I should check the memory while I am looking.   Not sure if the S/N makes much of a difference when it comes to the production line,  but my card are only different by the very last digit,  so I have 86 and 88 (last two numbers of the sn) and wondering if they would have the same memory,  as well as which memory is generally preferred.

Yes, without memory, a higher core is sort of worthless and some also report lower cores than classified.

I'm still sticking to EVGA is full of crap if they are saying they are build to order. The only reason they would have to do this is because of the binning of the GPU.

Anyone check their ASIC quality with GPUZ? mine is 64.3% was wondering how that compares to the average.

edit: also, I've noticed a few differences between my GTX 680 and the kingpin:

More power usage by about 120w under load (very expected)
Louder (somewhat expected wasn't sure how the much better cooler balances out the much higher power usage and heat that would no doubt result)
Hotter (expected)
doesn't OC as well (given that it's already has a heavy OC on it at factory OC, kind of surprising, but I get artifacts at +100mhz compared to being able to run my 680 at +200 mhz)
ASIC quality is lower (but then again that may be apple to oranges)
Much better performance (so expected It goes without saying really)

Do people simply look at the memory to know what it is,  or is there another way?

You can use Nvidia Inspector to check the memory. http://download.orbmu2k.de/download.php?id=51
Just hover your mouse over the GDDR5 text for memory type to be revealed.
