Anyone check their ASIC quality with GPUZ? mine is 64.3% was wondering how that compares to the average.

edit: also, I've noticed a few differences between my GTX 680 and the kingpin:

More power usage by about 120w under load (very expected)
Louder (somewhat expected wasn't sure how the much better cooler balances out the much higher power usage and heat that would no doubt result)
Hotter (expected)
doesn't OC as well (given that it's already has a heavy OC on it at factory OC, kind of surprising, but I get artifacts at +100mhz compared to being able to run my 680 at +200 mhz)
ASIC quality is lower (but then again that may be apple to oranges)
Much better performance (so expected It goes without saying really)

From other people, most seem to post around 70ish on OCN, but 64.3 is crap, they must not bin these either.

Pentium III @ 933MHZ, 256mb Ram, 30GB HD, eVGA 680 4GB FTW SLI.

I already have a 780 so I can't justify dumping $850 on this.I'm sure the 880 will be out by may so I'll just wait and see if there's a significant jump in performance and check prices differences. It would be a nice upgrade from a 580 or something though.

Do people simply look at the memory to know what it is,  or is there another way?

You can use Nvidia Inspector to check the memory. http://download.orbmu2k.de/download.php?id=51
Just hover your mouse over the GDDR5 text for memory type to be revealed.

Oh,  perfect.   Thank you for the quick response.

What mean that Build to Order compare to normal order???

darklyspectre how much you sell your GTX780 Classified???
If you have money difference and want Ti than worth to drop price 20-30$ more than other seller only to cross on Ti.
Don't go with some extra low price to other use you only because need urgent money for better model but some lower price worth because GTX780Ti is pretty stronger card. I say in all new games, exactly that difference is necessary for nice playing and I don't know why NVIDIA didn't do that immediately. I mean you can disable filters and GTX770 becomes enough but I look in game settings to maximum...
Only  maybe x8 MSAA is sometimes for 2 cards not for one, but in most case GTX780Ti I think can and x8 MSAA.

I have never put faith into ASIC, since for me at least it has always not meant a better OC.

But if you really want put faith in ASIC, then theses cards should actually have a lower ASIC. Lower ASIC chips are better for Dice/LN2/extreme water, which is what these cards were made for (at least that was the impression EVGA gave).

They show it on the ASIC chart

I for one am glad it has Samsung ram, and since I'm upgrading from no GPU/a laptop with GT 640M OCed to K|NGP|N Classified, my expectations will be blown away regardless of my overclock

So it shows a low asic you need higher voltages, where as higher asic normally requires lower, and second. Some people have ASIC in the 70s, and then in the low 60s.. there are no way binned as these asic scores are coming across the same from every model of the 780 ti.. except the ones that overclock extreme, which have a much higher asic score and are on water so basically these cards are worthless unless you toss them under dice/ln2

Well I guess one thing about the ASIC is, we might be assuming that they are binned, and that the binning considers the ASIC quality as a major factor. It seems that one or both of these ideas are incorrect. As we don't have confirmation that these are bin, nor what the binning is based on, I can only guess.

I don't know if I should get one of these cards, or wait for the rumored Titan "Black Edition". I imagine the Titan Black Edition will become reality, makes sense I think as it would be a fully unlocked Titan with 6GB of VRAM and better DP performance. Still just rumors but it seems very likely now.

The only thing really that would make a difference to me is 3GB vs 6GB. I will be getting a G-Sync monitor when they are released. The ASUS ROG Swift looks great but it's 1440p so I would need all the GPU horsepower I can get, it would also use more VRAM because of its higher resolution although exactly how much more I don't know. I currently play games on a 1080p monitor and I've monitored my VRAM usage while playing a few games and the most I've seen is Crysis 1 (don't have Crysis 3 yet) use around 1100MB - 1200MB with every setting on Very High. Do you guys think I would be fine with 3GB? I don't know if 3GB would be a bottleneck when playing at 1440p.

I won't be putting either card under water or anything like that, both cards would be used purely on air.

You get what you want, and what's compatible with your rig
If you wait, you only prolong the "longevity" of your specific card by a few months anyhow
You buy the Titan Black Edition, 3 months later the 880 Ti comes out and spanks it
It's an endless cycle, you get what you want and you satisfy that bi-annual fetish of flipping cards lol

LOL, tell me about it.

The KPE is so awesome (to me at least) that I want one just because. It truly is an endless cycle, however I think whatever card I get I will keep for a while, how long who knows but longer than I kept others. If I do end up getting a KPE I don't think I could ever sell it. I would want to keep it forever because I just love the look of it and everything about it.

I've been out of the PC gaming world for a bit because of this cycle
I've got an Xbox One, but right now the graphics are actual garbage even compared to my GT 640M GK107 2GB card
BF3 looks better on my laptop than BF4 on my Xbox one
I decided to build a monster, and this card is really unique, some people don't like the shroud, I love it
So I decided to grab one, pretty much any card would smoke my xbox one, but the K|NGP|N caught my attention and I really like it, also the backplate inclusion is very nice

To each their own though

I've never had a gaming PC before, all I had was a 2007 iMac. I don't have an Xbox One but I do have a PS4 which is a great console. I do have an Xbox 360 that I love and have played countless hours on it.

Back to the KPE, I really like the cooler on it. I think it looks very unique as you said which is why I could never sell it.

Decisions, decisions. I will probably pay around the same price for either card so just have to decide.

I hate to hear such news...
I had OK graphic chip with GTX780 Classified only NVIDIA destroy me everything with 2304 shaders when launch 2880.
I look on that as on one cube where one good part miss. I mean it was not some chip for competition but when finish Heaven 4.0 on 1162V on 1250MHz you can't say it's bad.
Please don't talk more bad news because I can't change now nothing, maybe guy who live in Munchen still didn't get card but that will be tomorrow or Tuesday but big chance is EVGA Europe send him.

I got to play a little bit more yesterday and my stable clocks on stock (on air) without any changes to voltage are, gpu offset plus 105 boost @ 1294mhz played bf4 without any problems for 2 hours. Memory is a different story, would only get plus 150 offset @ 7300mhz. I guess I was unlucky with the memory. I'm off tomorrow and can do more testing and check back with my results. ASIC % @ 63.3%.

This is why I canceled my kingpin, it seems the Samsung memory is consistently lower on the kingpin and I already have the classy. Not going to take the loss in $ when its going to sack my performance.

For me, my ti classy wasn't a good core clocker @1202mhz but was awesome on memory. Easy 7800mhz, I just don't get it with the memory clock on the kingpin. Runs without problems @150 plus offset but when I input 151 offset and apply it, it would crash to desktop right away. Maybe its a bios or software problem that can be fixed, hopefully. Either way I'm still happy with my kingpin, performance is better then my to classy.

Re: EVGA GTX 780 Ti Classified K|NGP|N Edition 2014/01/26 09:25:20 (permalink)
I don't understand how they prepare such cards, without testing.
It's normal if any memory present bad on 5 cards before production to replace on better memory.
Or they go in production without testing.
Maybe is better and I to try to cancel if can and see what will happen for few weeks???

I mean this real now, if EVGA f*****up memory and now on this card as with Elpida I will stop to buy their products, stop to came here and I will do best in next years to explain on all forums how they produce their best models. Because of them is seems normal to make one part with bad memory and after that to change that on better. We see that.
3 months they had to choose best possible things.

I suggest EVGA if situation is so bad with memory, better now when 20 people have card to stop shipping immediately until fix that than later 500 people to curse his cards. Easy stop shipping, replace Kingpin Edition with normal, or change memory on Hynix, better than one part of people to have one, other something different. I would not be angry if I need to buy normal Classified Ti is situation so bad.

Still undecided if I accept shipment of my cards  tomorrow or not, I may not even be home to accept the package so it may be more like Tuesday when I have to make that decision. If the cards are still performing this badly compared to regular classifieds, I will be disappointed. Also, before anyone says this card was meant for LN2- the core is not the problem, the memory is. Any amount of volts applied to the memory, irrespective of type of cooling you got, does not help with the pathetic overclocks people are getting with the memory and that is hurting the benchmark scores despite the better cores.

After reading this thread I'm guessing I should keep my Ti 780 SC that has 83% ASIC and not get Kingpin :(

I was under the assumption just by word of mouth or whatever that Samsung was the premium chip maker recently, regardless I wouldn't say they are selling "bad" memory on the Kingpin they had just used different branded memory modules then the classified and on the whole from the first impression they are clearly inferior for OC'ing. Jacob mentioned that they where looking into the bios to see how to improve the memory clocks but I don't know what kind of trade off with timings. So I'm just going to follow them closely and see how it pans out before I pull my credit card out again.

Re: EVGA GTX 780 Ti Classified K|NGP|N Edition 2014/01/26 10:06:46 (permalink)
Remember date and time of my post and suggestion to EVGA to better stop shipping immediately and change cards for normal Classified Ti if someone want because guy with +150 offset on memory can sit and cry, Isus can't help him in competition card where memory can with +500 or +600 offset. On Ln2, not LN2, dry ice, how do you want...Better that than to destroy name of Kingpin and Classified series. Because people will long time to talk only about Elpida memory, plus this... no word.
I can't explain how much chip need to be better to compensate that. Best vs worse... I saw that with GTX780 someone with bad memory can OC chip and memory together and other who have nice memory can only overclock memory to the sky give almost same score.
I can't believe top NVIDIA graphic card produces can't make whole nice series with nice memories.
That or stop shipping and install Hynix on other cards if that is possible now.
Dear god, dear god what they do there....ccccccc....
Thing is clear completely new series of Samsung installed without testing only because name and glorious of previous series, that can happen and with Hynix for month and with all others.
I wouldn't ask even money difference back if normal Classified Ti is better only not to stuck with some stupid memory.
I don't care difference is not so big at all but 150-200 offset is unacceptable...
Such card must OC on 1950-2000MHz if you ask me than and 1350MHz is not bad. But only +150 offset 1500MHz on GPU can't compensate that.

I say that first because me and my investment and second because people will start to laugh next time when see Kingpin pictures with some other cards.
They will run away...Now is maybe not late to fix things when only EVGA sell cards, when people can buy card only over EVGA shop...
I know what Jacob say and if they fix that with BIOS, that would be huge win for EVGA but I'm not sure that is possible.

I would have to agree with you, that Samsung isn't using bad ram but just isn't using the same type of ram it was known for in the pass. Hopefully Evga can fix it with a bios update if not I would also recommend them to stop sales on the kingpin with the type of ram that is being used on it now, to keep eveyone happy. Continue with a tested type of Samsung ram or start using hynix ram on it. Overclocks are never guaranteed, with the low memory clocks I am still very happy with my kingpin, if it gets better with the bios update that's a plus.

I haven't read into it much yet but I'm guessing I'm not the only one having bad clocks on memory?

No all customers have same and that with memory is usually like that... No so big oscillation as GPU example...
I don't know what to say, I fixed one mistake of EVGA with Elpida, second I can't, now is turn on them.
They should fix this and give customers nice and good memory for overclocking.

MY ADVICE FOR ALL CUSTOMER IS TO WAIT IF YOU DON'T WANT TO TASTE HOW LOOKS LIKE WHEN YOU ARE VICTIM OF OTHERS BAD DECISIONS.
BECAUSE EVGA IF BIOS CAN'T FIX PROBLEM CAN CHANGE ON NEXT SERIES AND PUT BETTER MEMORY AND YOU WILL STAY ON 1800MHz and OTHER PEOPLE ON 2000-2100-2150MHz ON CHEPEAR CARD THAN YOURS. THEY DONE THAT TO ME ONCE AND IT'S NOT IMPOSSIBLE TO DO THAT AGAIN.

I'm still waiting on my KPE to arrive, should be here Tuesday, but has anyone here installed and tried the BIOS that Vince (K|NGP|N) provided? He says to install his BIOS with the BIOS switch in the LN2 position to make the card "scream". I don't know about you guys, but I already have a flash drive sitting on my desk with the BIOS on it just waiting for the card to arrive.
