Hi everyone,

I have a 3090 FTW model that has had this issue for quite some time. I initially thought it was because of my TV/Soundbar, but I've gone through several different combinations of TVs/Monitors/Soundbars now, and end up experiencing the same problem. I've even tried the card with different PC builds and the problem always comes back. Also, when using a 6900XT or RTX 4090, the problem never shows up.

My system works normally most of the time, but every once in a while the audio will become extremely garbled and distorted for about 30 seconds, and then it fixes itself. This can happen during gaming, when watching videos, or just playing audio files. There doesn't seem to be a specific trigger for it that I can nail down.

Anyone else ever experience this?

Current System:
Ryzen 7 5700G
32GB DDR4
Gigabyte B550 D Vision
Windows 10 / 11
Seasonic Focus + 1000W / EVGA Supernova SFX 750W

I've also tried it on the following builds with the same results:

Ryzen 7 5700x3d
32GB DDR4
Gigabyte B550I Aorus Pro AX
Windows 11
EVGA Supernova SFX 750W

i7-12700
64GB DDR4
Intel NUC Extreme 12
650W PSU

Intermittent issues are always the hardest ones to resolve

Could be a bad solder joint, some sort of bad: contact or chip or other issue that needs the perfect storm to make the issue happen

Might be some sort of electrical noise issue?

What is the power source you are using?  plugged direct into wall outlet/ surge protector or UPS?

Any other larger devises in your house/ apartment on the same circuit as the PC? (microwave, refrigerator, a/c unit)

RE: 750W PSU --> That GPU spec is for 850 Watt or greater power supply.

Browser?
Other software that is typically running in the background?

You are using the Nvidia sound driver & not the MB's sound chip?

HDMI or DP?
Tried other cables or all other ports on GPU?
Which Nvidia drivers have you tried?

Ever use DDU to remove all previous GPU drivers before installing a new driver?
It might be some sort of driver conflict.  One easy test - disabling MB sound in BIOS

Clearly there is a problem with your video card since the issue follows the card to different systems, and other cards do not show the issue.

Thanks for the suggestions!

-I am plugged directly into the wall and have tried in 2 different houses.
-I don't think there are any other large devices in either house that would have an effect.

-I do run Chrome in the background often, but it doesn't seem to make any difference what else is running.

-I am using the NVIDIA audio and audio driver over HDMI. I've also tried a few different cables without any change.
-I'll try DDU on my current setup then a few different driver versions, and also play with disabling the MB sound driver and in BIOS.

I guess as a last resort I'll open a ticket to see what they say. I purchased the extended warranty since it was such an expensive part. May turn out to have been a good idea.

Also might be some sort of ground issue, as they can cause noise in audio.  One member recently reported a ground source noise in their two full PC system in one case build

make sure PSU screws are tight & the GPU is connected to the case with a screw, for best grounding
