The-Real-Link Hi guys, Had a quick mounting question for my PC-P80 thread here: http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=688980 Also as a note, when I unpacked the P80, I noticed they supplied what appears to be small silvery standoffs (maybe aluminum or stainless steel)?. Normally I've always thought of them having to be brass because of the conductive nature of that but would it still be safe to mount the board with the diagram I gave? If you need to see a photo of the standoffs, I can provide one (just didn't take one yet). It doesn't matter what the standoffs are made from, they will work just fine (the MB is grounded through the ATX power cord).

Hey Spotswood, Thanks for the reply on that. True, in EVGA's manual it does show all the pins and most of them on the big 24-pin connector go back to ground. Thanks for the insight.

Hi, I'm interested in building a new SR-2 rig and I feel like I need to go the Lian-Li V-2120 route. Does anyone know for a fact that 2 Corsair H70(s) will fit without requiring any modifications (or just a slight modification)?

Here are some pics showing the fan issue I mentioned, the clearance of the board and overall fit in the PC P-80. Also there is no way to bend that 24 pin cable behind the HDD cages safely if anyone is wondering :). And no jibes about all the cables, I haven't cleaned up everything yet haha.
Pics
Thanks for the photos on that! I'll also be documenting my PC-P80 build as it goes along for anyone also curious about a an SR-2 in that case. It looks like you'd have the room to turn the Megahalems sideways if you wanted to as well if necessary (fans blowing from front to rear of case).

As some of you may remember I am modifying the Lian Li PC-A71F with the Mountain Mods HPTX motherboard tray to build my SR-2 rig. I am writing to report that the Mountain Mods HPTX tray is less than ideal for the task. I have gotten it to fit, but I had to modify the Mountain Mods HPTX tray a great deal. The HPTX tray i/o back plate is too wide to fit any case less than 9 inches wide. The MM HPTX tray's exhaust fan hole is too far to the outside. In modifying it I had to cut through the hole. I had to salvage the exhaust fan hole from the Lian Li A71F to rivet it to the MM HPTX tray to re-cut the exhaust fan hole. To me this is a difficult and risky modification. If not for my skill and will I could easily destroyed the MM HPTX tray while trying to re-cut the exhaust fan hole. It is my recommendation that nobody try to use the Mountain Mods HPTX motherboard tray to modify a case to fit the SR-2. Any EATX case with 15 inches of space from the rear to the cage will service the SR-2. On the plus side the MM HPTX tray is made of excellent aluminum and will serve anyone will if they were building an entire case from scratch.

I am still looking for a computer case that can fit this monster of a MB... I am looking at the PC-P80, however I am not much of a mod person. I would like a case that needs LITTLE mods made to fit. What needs to be done with the P80 to make this fit? I know about the two top right standoffs not being there, is there something that needs to be done with this as well? Please be very specific with what needs to be done. If you want to email me directly, here is my email: shawnskeltonofnarnia@gmail.com Thanks!

Shawn (Oh hey seen you via LJ / FB, how's it 'goin ^^) - Actually I'm doing a little video tutorial to show people exactly what needs to be done - it'll take a few more days to be done though I'm afraid... On that related note, I am having my tray machined today for the PC-P80. I want to make sure for the mounting holes that they are indeed 6/32" diameter. I caught that figure being mentioned earlier in this thread and wanted to make sure. Any expedient replies would be courteously appreciated. *Edit, got it done anyway - machinest obviously knows what he's doing. Will update later*. Fans finally shipped too so woo!

You could always make a bench table for rather cheap. I modified my Tecnofront HWD. It only cost me about $105 to get the SR-2 to fit it. $100 of that was the cost of the motherboard tray from Mountain Mods. I am sure you could always go w/ a different bench table since the HWD isn't exactly cheap. http://i18.photobucket.co...ume/SR2/IMG_2934_2.jpg

Just finished a PC-P80 build with the SR-2. Went very smoothly with a 140.3 mounted in the front bays. The only modding I did to the case was to drill the 4 extra holes in the tray for the standoffs, which self tapped into the holes I drilled. Self drilled standoff hole locations: Finished: If you don't need all the PCIe slots then another option is the old Coolermaster Stacker 810 which supports the following motherboard sizes with no mods: M/B Type Micro-ATX, ATX, E-ATX 12"x13", W-ATX 13"x16"

Concerning the Lian Li PC-V2120: 1) It's very quiet. 2) Because the mobo tray is aluminum, there is a lot of motherboard flex. 3) If you hear vibrations, look at the quick connect latches for the 5.25" bays. You may have to restrain them. 4) With the powersupply so far away, you need very long CPU power leads. 5) It looks very professional, like a workstation. Not like a prop from Fast & The Furious. 6) It's actually light for it's size. A smaller Intel Workstation case for dual Xeon boards is much heavier. 7) If they claim it was "designed" for the SR-2; it's just marketing. It can be made to work, and has all 12 holes in the right places (well, one is a slot), but the mobo mount plate is smaller than the mobo. I would have liked it full length so I could put some standoffs on the 24-pin ATX area. 8) I don't regret the purchase, I'm pretty happy with it. I just wish they would have put a little more effort into making it SR-2 friendly.

A: you can't run standard i7's in an SR-2. only xeons. B: It won't fit in the case. at least, not without some modding.

what kind of cooling are they using in that system they got in the 800D with the 0 degree cooling liquid. it looks like they have a normal fan and radiator setup but liquid never reaches 0 degrees with a traditional fan rad setup.

I found this in the hardware section and thought the SR-2 might fit in it.: The BitFenix Colossus While short 1 PCI slot, it looks to have the room for a SR-2, but we just need to know if it really has 15 inches of clearance between the cages and rear.
