Hey everyone! Sorry for another "me-too" thread but my SR-2 finally came in along with most of the other parts I ordered for this crazy build! While I can't throw it all together just yet, at the same time I want to wait a little bit as my 5DII is out for cleaning and I'm stuck having to take crappy pictures with my phone and 10D (not that that's a bad camera to be honest). But anyway, here's what I have so far. Comments welcome. Parts I have so far are: Lian-Li PC-P80 Super-Tower Armorsuit (HOLY CRAP IT'S HUGE - yes I can sit crouched on the floor in front of it and it'd easily swallow me) EVGA SR-2 HPTX Motherboard (HOLY CRAP IT'S HUGE SRSLY) USB 3 / SATA 6 included Dual Intel Xeon Westmere E5620s @ 2.4 ghz (will probably OC them if UPS power TDP threshold allows) Dual Prolimatech Megahalems Rev. B.'s Dual EVGA GTX 580 SC 1.5 GB graphic cards (Re: HOLY CRAP IT's HUGE)... the other one should come tomorrow and isn't pictured. 12 GB of Mushkin 1,600mhz Redline RAM EVGA SR-2 1,200 watt PSU (Box is bigger than I thought it would be!) 2x ASUS OEM DVD Burners LG Blu-Ray Burner Rosewill 40-in-1 Card Reader Basic Dell replacement keyboard (this one's getting quite worn) (Not Pictured: Cyberpower 1,000w / 1,500 VA UPS backup) Now to search that compatable chasis thread and make sure the 10 standoffs I'm lining up in the Lian-Li PC-P80 are going to be enough. I *think* I have the mounting figured out but it's kinda making me nervous.

Looking forward to seeing more pictures, but bounce the flash off the wall, makes for a bigger light source and gives you less hot spots on those shinny boxes. thanks for sharing, and I am very excited for you, I am still waiting for my own board Henrik

Gotta love a new build every time we hear about it. I'm wondering about that vertical cross brace in the case and how that is going to play with the Megahalems. Looks like it will be in the way from the photos I've seen of the case. The Megahalems are excellent air-coolers and they are tall. That vertical brace looks like it indents toward the mobo, so I'm guessing it will need to come out for the HS's to clear. Once you get that rig built, you may want to consider joining the EVGA Folding Team and make that beast earn it's keep. Rick

Redline + SR-2 is the same choice I'd make if I was financially gifted :D

Thanks for the comments and tips guys! My main camera came back in today so I'll probably just re-shoot everything I already took crappy photos of anyway. I've already had a few people ask me to be on their folding team but also jumping on EVGA is tempting for just the bucks alone... Choices, choices! Yeah I'll probably remove the cross-bar but will have to see how it all fits. Don't want to put it together without fans in place yet though. Still waiting on those.

Hey everyone, Ran into a question so far when working with this. I figured it'd be up on the forums but apparently not. Would this be a valid mounting / standoff method for the SR-2 board in a Lian-Li PC-P80? I tried search all around on here and elsewhere and nothing to show of it. I believe EVGA states you need 9 holes to have the board mounted sturdily enough. I aligned 10 so far but it's probably good to secure the other two as well. Measurements are slightly off because the photos shot the board and tray at a slightly off-angle. Suggestions and help are appreciated, thanks.

It looks like after more closely following EVGA's case threads, the top two right holes simply do not line up. Time to have it drilled / tapped.

Thanks very much Alanw. Have a few more tests to do aside from OC'ing and waiting for my 580 to come back (2nd one had stability issues unfortunately so it also went back for RMA). Otherwise, putting the system to good use to say the least.

OC'ing is going pretty well and I've been stable without a hitch up to 197 BCLK! I tried moving to 211 (for a turbo of 4ghz even) and then really hit a wall all at once. I had it boot into Windows once, sound played but was distorted. I restarted but then it gave me a few different codes like d0, F4, and FF. I know on Shamino's template that the CPU signals are very low but I've mostly kept things on auto or close to it. Just printed out the boot codes but I don't see any of those listed. Any ideas please? Maybe I should go up more slowly than 10 BCLK at a time now, haha.

Hey Kris! Long time no see. I recorded it with my 5DII and shot off-monitor footage. You can get the screensaver to come up by using BOINC normally, then going into screen savers and enabling BOINC's. Only Rosetta to my knowledge has a graphic you can view. Just let it kick on (maybe turn settings to one minute or so), and it'll show what you're working on. :)
