The 3080 ti really seems like the card to get. Even before it was more than a rumor I felt like I wanted more than a 3080 for future proofing(I don't like buying new parts every other year) but the 3090 is just ridiculously priced.

I believe that "ti" is always the best value for money. the only pity is that we will have very little chance of getting it(

Definitely feel like the 3080 was a cash grab... gimped ram and performance... even the Ti/3090 aren't what they could/should be for the $$

I want to join the queue for a 3080 TI asap. Does that mean my best bet is to become an Elite member to get access a day early?

Not entirely true... when I got my 1070 I could have waited for a 1080 or 1080Ti, both have which would have aged better than my 1070 (which is still great...)

I don't think it will help you much. it seems to me that in the first 3 minutes of the launch of the 3080ti, so many people will queue up that they will be sent notifications for 2-3 months. Anyone who is late for these 3 minutes-will never be able (in a reasonable time) to get 3080ti.

My thoughts is that the que will be a little better than the 3080 but not by much. You would need to get on the notification list within a couple minutes of it going live

It sure can't hurt your chances of getting a gpu.I have a elite membership through and it hasn't helped me get a 3090 Kingpin yet.4 months now and hardly any movement on the queue list for the Kingpin.A B-Stock drop of gpus got snatched up by bots yesterday I believe ,I of course was signed up for the B-Stock but of course received no notification. 8 months now for a 3080ftw3...NADA 5 months now for every 3080 and 3090 gpu makes ...NADA and 4 months now for the Kingpin...NADA.The bots get everything and this queue list sign up means NOTHING! The queue lists only moves seconds when it does and weeks if not months in between the few second drops.Well thats my take on the queue list, it can't hurt but it sure as hell will not get you a gpu anytime soon.

  1. Spam this forum to jump through all of EVGA's hoops so I can have even a chance at joining the queue
  2. Get a queue position the day before launch
  3. Take my well earned PTO to get the launch morning off and camp out in front of the nearest micro center
  4. When they open, wave my wad of money in my hand and tell the employees that I will take whatever they will sell me at this point

On behalf of all the forum members: Please do not spam

Unfortunately the chances of getting of getting the 3080Ti is going to be as dismal as getting any of the other cards. Elite membership or not :(

Honestly, if it takes a year to get a Ti I won't moan. I think getting in the queue the first day will make this a possibility. I wish the best of luck to all us gamers who just want a good card.

So, is it worth it to enter the gueue or not? Because I am in the queue for the 3080 and still nothing and I see this model to come out every single week from online websites which it does not make any sense in my opinion.

If you're on the hunt for a new card, it won't hurt you to be in que. If you get a card before your que, you're not obligated to buy

Its up to you how long you want to wait. The queue atleast lets you have a sure shot at one whenever it comes up

Have you been able to buy one in this way? I am in the queue for all 3080 models and I am still waiting for a while and as fas as I read here many people waited months and nothing.

It would have been better to simply have an account age or just products purchased, but this is the result. *caw, caw*

I'll try to snag one online, but since there seems to be large supplies . . . I'm wondering if I should get in line at the store. Depends on COVID too.

The 3080 ti really seems like the card to get.

I've had 2 Ti cards before; the 780 Ti and dual 980 Ti and I loved them. All my peasant friends had the standard edition and I just felt special, ya know?

No in all seriousness they are a great gap purchase from the standard run of the mill to the insane expensive 90 variants. Dollar to Performance Ration is a nice sweet spot.

980Ti and 1080Ti were the last good value/price to performance high end cards nvidia offered... now, we're just at the point of nvidia gouging the gaming community (AMD as well... they're not off the hook here, either).

Furthermore, their assumption that EVERY owner of a card can simply offset this by mining fails to appreciate that uses will use the GPU for other tasks thus diminishing the amount of mining it will perform in its lifetime. That many users keep their computers in their bedrooms and many of those will not want to run their computers while they sleep. Assumptions about the costs of electricity further alter the net value of the card to users. That is, if the card is expected to generate $4000 of value in its lifetime and costs $2500, what happens when a user resides in an area where electricity is 5 times more expensive than low-energy cost areas where miners establish operations?

Not to mention the tax implications many people are not aware of, or prepared for.  Mining is consider Earned Income.  based on your Income tax rate at the time it's MINED, plus then any capital gains tax on the MINED price and the "Sold" price. if more than one year, if less than one year, that is taxed as Income.

PLUS it's considered "SELF EMPLOYMENT" if not operated behind a LLC, so you open your self up to another 15% tax, and quartly payments if beyond a 400.00 threshhold.

in the US it's a complete TAX nightmare that is going to get allot of folks into trouble if they dont start reporting it.

Yes, this... mining is definitely out of tge question here in Hawaii.... we have the highest cost of electricity in tge nation and the highest state income tax... plus take into account the high weather temps and humidity.... the longevity and performance of the card takes a hit as well.

Mining returns would be a fraction of the average here.
