Call Evga and ask them to trouble shoot it with you, but my guess is that your card may be dead. Please ask them about your specific psu too because a lot of people think this may be related and I think it would help others trouble shoot. Does your serial number start with a 2014? As stated in a previous post if you switch your wires does the light move with them, or stay? If it moves it could actually be your vga cords. Hope you get it sorted.

Well, I've had my 3090 ftw3 ultra for a while now. I've played various games like Cold War, Modern Warfare, Dragon Quest XI and some emulated ps2 games. Aside from COD regularly crashing when overclocking (apparently it has something to do with COD's anticheat?) it has worked pretty well and I have yet to run into any issues. In case you guys are curious, I use a ryzen 9 3950x (ordered a 5950x though, taking a while D:), my psu is 1000W 80+ Titanium, ram is 128gb ddr4-3200 cl16, storage is 2tb nvme (5gbps read 4.4gbps write). Motherboard is an msi x570 gaming plus and my cpu cooler is a nh-d15.

Is that why my frequency is in red while playing COD? I have a light overclock of 100 on core and 200 hundred on memory.

If I put a higher offset on core then COD crashes.

My first 3090 died with exact same red light and fans at 100. The only fix is to get I replaced - only took EVGA 3 days to get me a replacement and I’m in Canada.

Replacement card working well (been 3 weeks) ... but the first one ran for about 6 weeks before bricking.

System spec: 5950x, 1300w platinum seasonic, 33gb ram 3600, Asus x570 rog hero, custom water loop in lian li 011D XL (glass panels removed until GPU block arrives).

First and replacement GPU were 2014 and made in Taiwan.

I'm jealous. I ordered a 5950x 5 minutes after it released and even then, I was too late by 2 minutes because the site I was ordering it from was so damn laggy XD anyway, I believe so. When I asked around, that's what people have been claiming, that it has something to do with Cold War having some kind of anticheat. It sucks, because my monitor is 4k 144hz, so I'd rather have maxed out settings with higher FPS, rather than sacrificing some of my quality for higher FPS x). Waiting on my 5950x, hopefully that'll increase my FPS significantly, using a 3950x atm.

i was playing halo at the time, as a few others in this thread were!, hardly a killer game, but that aside, im scared of my replacement going the same way.  ive seen a fair few people on the 2nd or 3rd card, i will wait and see what the retailer says, but im likely going to push for a refund.

There’s no way a video game, any video game, is going to brick a card.

i was not suggesting that, just pointing out that mine died whilst playing halo, as did a few others, there is a bit of an ongoing joke in this thread about halo killing cards.

Was playing Halo 3 MCC on my 3090 FTW3 when I heard a pop then video went out and RGB lighting turned off on card. There’s no solution for this but to RMA right? My power supply never has had any issues, its a Corsair HXi 1000w Platinum. The red light that is on is the second from the left and  my serial number for the card starts with 2014. Wish someone could figure out why this is happening so frequently.

Received 3090 FTW3 Ultra Gaming Monday (Jan 4th), card died Tuesday morning (Jan 5th), filed EAR (EVGA Advanced RMA) right when EVGA support opened (12PM EST), just now (Thursday night) received shipping notification that the new card will be here tomorrow. (Jan 8th)
Card SN# started with 2014, made in Taiwan, black lip. Using Thermaltake Toughpower 850 PSU, 3 dedicated PCIE connections.
Good luck on your replacement! ... seems like we all need it.

My turn around, non advanced rma, was rather long only because they were closed for shipping until the 5th. I paid for the collateral on the 29th. If I don't count those days it took them one day to get a shipping notification out although I did call to ask about shipment. My card will arrive Wednesday and it is confirmed to be a 2012 serial number. They sent that information with the rma email. I am crossing my fingers this is actually a bad batch, not that this makes anyone's life easier with a 2014 card, but it will be a pretty good indication of it being a card issue and not a psu issue as everyone previously expected. Hope you get your card soon.
