Hi, I have tried getting in touch with EVGA support but no answer!!! So can anyone tell me if my EVGA 220P21000XR SuperNOVA 1000 P2 Power Supply 1000W 80Plus Pl, would work with my ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4090 AMP Extreme AIRO GPU ??
If so what power connector would be best to use with it??
Thanks

YES, it should work

That PSU have Qt6 - 8-pin PCIe outputs ..... so that is plenty of cables.  Use individual cables for each connection to your GPU (in other words, do not use the second connection on any of the PCIe cables) &

The GPU you mentioned - Requires (4) cables / connections to the adapter

Recommended Power Supply of 1000W

EVGA - Product Specs - EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 P2, 80+ PLATINUM 1000W

subseauk,

Thank you for your post and I can confirm that Cool GTX is correct as this unit should work, but you will need to use the adapter from the graphics card manufacturer.

Hi Cool GTX, thanks for the response. I understand the need for 4 separate power cables but I believe I would need then to use the 4to1 adaptor  that came with the GPU. I have heard that using inline adaptors can cause issues, do you know of anyone that provides a direct 4 to 1 (PSU to GPU ) type cable for connecting the GPU to the PSU?  Cheers

Yes, the adapter is Required & was mentioned in my reply, I made it bold font in the above quote for clarity.

The root issue is with the 12-pin design not being robust enough for typical use; you must limit stress & disconnect/ reconnect cycle on the 12-pin connector

I have several GPU that use the 12-pin connection (though different brand than your 40 series) - no issues over a year later

1) I leave my 12-pin adapters connected to my GPUs & like that I can disconnect the 8-pin cables from adapter when I need to organize cables or move the GPU

2) Do not force a bend in the adapter near the connection (stresses the connection) & keep the bend large as possible

3) I support the PCIe cables by using zip tying the cables in position to reduce/ remove stress from the 12-pin connection

This is what you need to understand Connect/ disconnect cycles 8-pin PCIe to ATX 12VHPWR Adapter Included with RTX 40

The Curious Case of the 12-pin Power Connector: It's Real and Coming

NO, I do not know of a 4 x 8-pin to 12-pin cables, offhand.

Check with custom cable Mfgs.  Most seem to only offer 2x 8-pin to 12-pin cables

Thanks Cool GTX
I must have missed part of your first reply ( it's been a long couple of days with very late nights LoL ). I see the reference to the adaptor now so thanks again for that.
I have already been in touch with Cablemods and ordered a cable with the GPU connector on one end and 4 x 8 pin connectors for the PSU on the other but it will take 2 to 3 weeks to arrive!! Meantime I will plug in the adaptor and see how it goes. Thanks again for the help, much appreciated.
