The board desperately needs a BIOS update. Many other lower tier boards perform better at this point.

yeah. i went to 5000 and 4000. no dice. I am insisting on 4 dimms so self inflicted wound a bit.
this new kit I have are all 4 sequential serial numbers. real nice.
That is seriously a bummer. I mean that's basically one of the best selling points of rocket lake is that you can throw 5000+MHz memory at it...

Gear 1 is much more of an IMC issue than a board issue, I have found. 3733 and 3200 ratios seem the most stable for me.

Based on my experience, it's a board issue.

Board sucks. I'm returning or selling mine. Already purchased a MSI Z590 Gaming Edge Wifi. 5.3ghz all core, ram runs at XMP 3600mhz cl16 G-Skill (2x16), adaptive volatage works and don't break 83c on water. By EVGA. And MSI board was $100 cheaper. Best of luck to rest of you. Glad your boards are running up tp expectations.

I would have returned mine for the Aorus Master but I decided to keep it since it's rock solid. Not a single crash and all components just work (NIC, sound, etc.). I still have an open ticket with Gigabyte about their ALC4080 codec issues on the Pro AX and I don't even have the board anymore. Plus their software is pretty jank. And no other board had the combination of features that I wanted like this Z590 FTW. I guess I'm overall satisfied with it.

My board had same issues as well as adaptive voltage not working at all. Even set to 1.3volts no offset still would boot with cpu at 1.54volts. Amoung other problems. Processor wouldn't over stable unless used override voltsv at 1.45, and then as far as it would go was 50 all core. Just got my RMA number it's going back. Picked up an MSI gaming edge wifi. All great. Same memory at 3733 up from 3600(well 3467 on evga board was max stable. Can now control the turbo boost power limits and boost time. Got solid over clock at 53,53,52,52,51,51,50,50. 1.435 volts. Max temp stressing i

i have the same problem, i manage to run higher frequency with blck Oc but as soon as i load with the xmp profile at 3600 the board wont boot at all, do i have to get an RMA? i'm on a 11700k

I'm stable @ 4000 gear 2 with all four 16gb sticks in now. I'm super happy with it and will be doing the 590dark on the 5333 kits probably this week.

It's when reading you that i realize that having no gear 1/2 mode allows a better ram overclocking with four sticks on Z390 FTW

This was based on another board, but those were the findings they had for the most stable memory settings. It sounds like Igor's Lab expected to see some board manufacturers' VSA being higher than it should be and that stability could be found by lowering it to within that range. I saw on one of your posts that you tried "bumping up" the voltage, but I didn't know if you took a look at lowering the VSA or playing with the VCCIO_Aux.

Thanks, yes looked at the article. Yep, I've been trying pushing up VCCIO_Aux, VSA was at 1.295 without me changing it, pushed voltage up to 1.475, gear 2 of course.. it just won't post, and I get the 2 little red LEDs confirming it's DIMM issue. 3600MHz works on gear 1, perhaps I should work on lowering the timings instead, since it seems this board refuses to do anything in gear 2, both on this ram and some 5333 ram we tried. Frustrating, plus I'm running on about 3 hours sleep.. been a long day.

Hey all! Bumping this to see if anyone had any luck as of late?
Running into a similar issue with my EVGA Z590 FTW (v 1.07) with Corsair Vengeance Ram 3000mhz C15 32gb (8gbx4) and i9-11900k.
Can't boot when XMP is enabled and in Gear 1. Boots in "Auto" which I believe is putting me into Gear 2 based on mem controller freq.
I have a Trident Z 3800mhz C14 32gb (8gbx4) on the way and will report back if the change in memory helps.

around here is seems most people are having success with just two sticks of 16gb stuff. I was able to use (4x16GB) of the trident royal elite 4000mhz stuff with all 4 dimms populated but that was gear 2. It runs great so I am done with that.

yea I posted my AIDA results in one of these threads. Ill look around but it was stable and not bad. My 590FTW is gear 2 @ 4000 and my 590Dark is gear 2 @ 4800. I just haven't messed with it too much other than getting it stable and getting to the games.
seems to me that gear 2 is perfectly fine and there are probably better places to spend the effort.

Hello,
i just feel to pick up this thread again.
I have 11900k on Z590 Dark with G.Skill 3600 CL14 Ram (2x16GB). BIOS is 1.08. XMP loads and when I let it sit at Auto for GEAR Mode it runs fine.
My problem is, that as soon I turn memory settings to gear1 I get an boot loop. I tried this also with 3400Mhz and 3467Mhz but run also into the boot loop.
This turns me down a little bit as I bought this expansive Ram with 3600 gear1 in mind. What could be the reason? Is my 11900k that bad?
How would you approach this issue?

Just checking, do you have the memory in the appropriate slots? please refer to the user manual, but I believe 2 and 4 are the slots you're looking for. The IMC of each 11900k varies quite a bit it seems. So some definitely run memory better than others. That said, I'm surprised that 3600 won't run gear 1. That seems too bad for normal IMC spread. If you couldn't run 3733 gear 1 I wouldn't be terribly surprised, but many can do that if the RAM allows. If you take a look at the MSI chart here, they did a pretty nice job giving a clue of what frequencies should run easily or are harder to achieve based on the specific CPU's IMC capability. It does say 3400 won't run, but 3600 should be "easy" as well as 3466. One other thing you might want to try is giving a slight boost to the voltage. I had to do that even on my 4000 kit to get it to run 3733 gear 1 (with very slightly tighter timings than XMP). Here's the big memory thread we had going if you want to dig through what others tried and were successful with (and unsuccessful).
