Pre-ordered! I wish I could get mine delivered before Christmas but I'm glad the wait is over with.

Ordered an acetal and black backplate myself. Going with a more discrete look this time with acetal blocks and black tubing. The only thing that will have visible fluid is the reservoir which is about as little as I could get away with. Also canceled my Optimus order since I'm in the second batch and first are not even shipping yet.

I was about to grab the black back plate, but I may add a few copper heat sinks on it for the VRAM (3090), and copper heat sinks on a black back plate would stick out like a set of dogs balls, so I went with nickel. :)

I'm going for a white and gold build with violet coolant so black or silver wouldn't have been my first choice. With that said I went with the nickel block and backplate so it can reflect the white the best.

Has anyone heard from Optimus? I ordered my block day 1 and haven't heard anything. The lack of a waterblock is holding me up from watercooling rest of system.
I had an email from EVGA to buy a XC3 3090 which has blocks available. I haven't opened my FTW3 3090 yet was thinking about switching but I let the opportunity pass assuming Optimus was actually shipping soon. Batch 1 ETA mid November, that was 3 weeks ago.
I want to play Cyberpunk so I think I'm just going to install the card air cooled for now and hope Optimus delivers...
Should I just pre order an EK block? I would think Optimus would have their Batch 1 blocks sent by January, earliest I could expect an EK block but IDK, some of the comments in this thread lead me to believe they are a very unreliable company.

Dwarfy I don't know if it's been said before as I didn't read all the thread so I apologize for that, but Alphacool make a FTW3 waterblock
Thanks...guess thats an extra option. And < 40% the cost of the Optimus block I ordered months ago. I sent them an email asking for updated ETA. If they don't give me one I may get the AlphaCool or EK block

I've read in forums recently that EK has been falling off a bit, and AC's redesign sounds promising with more robust nickel plating, guess at the end of the day it's probably splitting hairs either way. What's currently the best non-liquid metal thermal paste?

Do you mean a nonconductive and nonmetallic paste or a liquid metal paste? I'm not aware of metal thermal paste that isn't "liquid metal" i.e. conductive metallic. I like Thermal Grizzly kryonaut as a nonconductive paste. If you want a liquid metal paste maybe try conductonaut

Went with an Alphacool block and their new Subzero thermal grease that's rated at 16W/mK and not electrically conductive.

Have any of y’all checked the EK preorder page for the Nickel+Plexi version. It’s now showing a shipping date of mid-January. Do any of you who have preordered checked with EK if this has changed for all preorders or for just the ones going forward?

I would like to know this too. There’s an assumption it’s for the ones going forward. Don’t know if anyone has spoken with EK on this.

Yeah I received an email too. When I ordered, I was given an ETA of January 6th. The email I just received feels a little like I'm being trolled lol.. check it out: I ordered the nickel + plexi FTW3 block, and the nickel FTW3 back plate. The email says they expect my 'product' (doesn't say if they mean the block or the back plate) to be ready late December 2020, and to allow up to 4 business days for my order to be processed during these peak times. "Yay, it's early!" I thought, wrongly. The email then goes on to say, "However, keep in mind that if your order contains another item that was out of stock at the moment you placed the order and hasn’t been back in stock since, the shipping will depend on the other product’s restocking date as well." "Boo, it's delayed!" I thought, sadly. So they have one item ready before I expected (block or back plate, who knows), but the other item is unavailable and they don't know when it will be available, and they won't be shipping anything until it is. Right now, their website has both items listed as expected late January, so I guess that's my new ETA. Awesome. Not. I had to smirk when they wrote, "..the demand for the FTW3 products vastly exceeded our expectations." Yeah, nah. They knew. I spoke to them about it long before pre-ordering was available.

On that note, anyone received anything from OptimusPC? Their website still says Batch 1 in mid-November, and Batch 2 end of November, and I see a post above from 3 days ago that Optimus said they were about to start shipping that day, but to my knowledge nobody has received anything yet. I canceled my order with them (Batch 2) and went with EK. Not sure if that was a good move or not.

same mail on my side. I ordered also Plexi with back plate. I think both parts not available. We expect your EK-Quantum Vector FTW3 RTX 3080/3090 product/-s to be available in mid-January 2021. Please allow up to 4 business days for your order to be processed during these peak times. However, keep in mind that if your order contains another item that was out of stock at the moment you placed the order and hasn’t been back in stock since, the shipping will depend on the other product’s restocking date as well. Aquatuning give a delivery on 9-10 days. don't know if this is correct. But new listed in the shop Markus

I got the same as you, verbatim. Based on others getting the same email but with times in January I am hopeful the late December target is accurate! You and I got in on the pre-order pretty fast. I do hope the GPU block is better than the EK distro plate I got and am about to pull out and send back. QC on that thing was pretty bad.
