Anyone see any updates for FTW3 waterblock?

Optimus still sold out, EK says more like december

I tried to return the FTW3, but its 15% restock if box is opened (the inside bag was not opened and the unit was unused, but they only consider the box)

Have you talked to EK support recently or is this an assumption?

Yes. I am going to give you direct quotes from Facebook when asked about the 3080/3090 FTW3 blocks and questioning why they are producing AMD blocks already despite FTW3 being out for months:

3 days ago:
"Unfortunately we can only produce blocks so quickly even though we have multiple teams working on it But rest assured that the FTW3 is next in line alongside the FE 3090".

1 day ago:
"We aren't experiencing issues with bots purchasing blocks. People will be able to cool their FTW3 cards with our blocks this year. We have multiple teams working on projects and the collaboration with AMD began a while back. It hasn't impacted development of the FTW3 blocks."

I hope you're right because it gets quite loud and hot. I'm limiting my card to 0.975v to keep temps under 80 and avoid the power limit in games.

I just got an email from EKWB and I was like "YES! THE FTW3 WATER BLOCK NOTIFICATION!" ..but no, it was just an invite to some Black Friday deals.

I'm waiting for Optimus to open up 3rd block of orders myself. However the wait is going to be long. There's also the heatkiller option but that probably not out till next year.

Asked the other day about the hydro copper kit for already owned FTW3 3090 cards was told
“ Hello,

I do apologize, but there are currently no plans to sell the blocks for the 30 series separately. In addition, there are no plans to add the 30 series water cooling cards to our Step Up program. We normally don't offer water cooled products on our Step Up program.

I am sorry for the inconvneience.”

I told him I thought it was a missed opportunity and that a lot of people had been looking for these blocks. This is not for an AIO but a water block for an open loop.

EVGA should never add a card with a waterblock to the step up... you may have experience with custom watercooling loops, but over the years there have been MANY people that come into the forums that purchase a hydro copper card and thought it cooled itself.. they had no idea they were required to cool the card even though there are warning everywhere telling them they must.

The moment the card gets added to the step up is the moment you see more people killing their cards because they don’t know what they are purchasing.

Step up also requires some form of return on investment, and selling custom cards, which typically generate revenue because they are not on the step up list, is typically not something you see. Having the FTW cards on the step up to begin with is a first.

Has anyone had an update from OptimusPC on their FTW3 blocks? Their website still says batch #1 eta mid November, and batch #2 eta end of November. I'm not aware of anyone receiving a block yet, even from batch #1  - unless they meant November 2021. :(

It amazes me that we are now 2-3 months since the release of these cards, and still not one company on the planet has a water block available for them.

Not even joking in the least.  Said there GPU was overheating and showed the PC, and there was a hydrocopper sitting there with absolutely not other watercooling gear. Had been using it for quite a while like that.

I have been in contact with EKWB since launch, and they were waiting on an FTW3 Card to size and test fit a block to.  They stated that they had 3d renders, but no card to physically verify, so I bought one when my email came and shipped it to straight to Slovenia for fitting.  Fingers crossed that the blocks start coming out soon.

They are so unreliable it's crazy. They had the water block for the 2080ti as a pre-order item for almost a year, then all of a sudden they switched over to the 3000 series gpu block and offered anyone who pre-ordered the 2080ti series option to switch to the 3000 series block. I don't think they ever even shipped out any of the 2000 series blocks. I have cancelled 2 orders with them for gpu blocks one for each series because they have never been able to meet there shipping times not even close.

Kind of scary they take everyone's money though. Hope they aren't doing a FrozenCPU on people (if you're aware of all the bs that went down with the owner a few years back).

Wow Scarlet_One, very very good of you to forward your card to them, I would have thought EVGA would have been happy to do that. I hope you at least get a free block out of it for your trouble. Thank you for your selfless act, much appreciated.

Last I heard from someone here who pre ordered the optimus FTW3 block was there was a delay to the end of November for the first batch then another delay after that.

Optimus doesn't have a reputation for delivering product on time.  It sort of reminds me of the Cyberpunk 2077 game delays....

Was able to get a FTW3 3090 block from aquatuning.us
The shipping time is first part of January but at least I have one on its way. Price is just shy of $150 and it’s nickel plated copper.

Keep in mind that Alphacool blocks are...well...not a block but 3 pieces with channels to guide the water over the separate metal plates.

EK is supposedly open for preorders next week, and heatkiller is coming in Jan, and those are expected to be higher quality blocks.

With that said....I also have an Alphacool block on order - but I do intend to replace it once other options are available. I would have liked an Aquacomputer block with an active backplate - but they've been silent on if they intend to support EVGA at all.

That same announcement:

Upcoming NVIDIA RTX 30 Series Water Blocks

The first in line to launch, early next week, is the EK-Quantum Vector FTW3 RTX 3080/3090 water block for EVGA’s FTW3 lineup of 3080 and 3090 series cards. A 3070 FE water block will soon follow with the 3090 FE still being worked on. Some Aorus water blocks are also in the pipeline. The exact release date of 3090 FE water blocks is still unknown, but more details will be published as soon as they’re available.

So do what I did I suppose - order the Alphacool now to get in line - see what EK says next week. Depending on that, cancel or keep your Alphacool order.

My Alphacool order is still in the "Machining" phase...

Either way, Heatkiller is probably going to be the block to get for these cards second only to the extravagantly priced Optimus.

If EK turns out to be even slower than Alphacool, I will keep my Alphacool until Heatkiller is available - then sell my Alphacool block - admittedly that means eating $100 in shipping and markdown to sell a used block...

Edit: Also - it's unfortunately more than fair to say that it's not the first time EK has said that the FTW3 block is just around the corner....

personally, im going to buy all of them.   do install videos, then run temp comparisons, and then decide what i want to use in my rig ( not sure if the size of the Optimus blocks will make me want to use them full time.. ).. if i were predicting, i'd end up with the Heatkiller blocks as they are awesome and sexy.    With one caveat...  i think the hydro copper blocks look amazing.. but not sure if they will actually be available for purchase ever.

if that's the case, my disappointment in EVGA is growing.   Combine that stupidity with the fact they haven't and apparently aren't going to provide a 3 slot NV link for sale.. these might be the last EVGA Products i buy...

You're not wrong why would you not support your own products? seems like if they are willing to sell cards with them then they could sell an add-on just as easily. The processes are already in place all it would take is some install literature and they can make easy money.

Re: Waterblock for EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Gaming/Ultra ? 2020/12/05 13:56:51 (permalink)
Bought an FTW3 Hybrid.  Also waiting on notify to pop up for the FTW3 HydroCopper.  Was going to see which one was better and sell the other one.  Problem is...my Hybrid card ended up being a lot better than I expected.  It can do 2220MHz up to around 60% GPU usage and 2205MHz up to about 80% usage.  Throttling reason is just power limit, not voltage.  So this is definitely the card I want to keep.  But unfortunately, I won't be able to swap the hydrocopper block with the hybrid shroud and sell the card off because then both cards have voided warranty since you need to return them in the exact same state you bought them.  So now I have to hunt for a 3rd party block to get.  Normally I get the AquaComputer blocks but there's no word if they're planning to make one for the FTW3.  So far I've seen the Bykski and AlphaCool which I really didn't like.  Apart from that, there's the overpriced Optimus that I'm considering.  But they haven't put out any updates about their next batch of blocks going on sale.  Didn't think there were so few options available for the FTW3 since it's probably the most popularly sold card out there.

Need to spamtribute 100 posts for Elite status to be able to get a KingPin because Jacob. My apologies in advance.
