Yep, and this is why I wanted a tech from here to help me out.
Those rma guys dont know jack, telling me its my motherboard slot, when the only time either titan worked was when the ends are strung up by a string so the card itself doesnt bend.
Instead of admitting they have a fault, they want me to spend more money to get a bracket to hold the card up, when I already borrowed money I didnt have to buy a stupid water cooling unit that only made the card last 3 weeks.

I am just going to sell the piece of junk 2nd rma and use my gtx780, which is actually a LOT better performance than the titans have been in the exact same machine, and the card doesnt bend like melted cheese.

I am so pissed off right now. So pissed off.

We were able to set an RMA for you and offer Pre-Paid shipping as well. The card issue that you are describing is card sagging and it is fairly common with larger cards. I personally own GTX Titan card that does sag a bit in the slot, but when placed on a flat table is still flat, hence the card is not warped. The weight of the card puts pressure on the PCIe and can cause it to show the wrong PCIe and cause card crashes. The last card was sent in for the same issue and passed through testing. Our recommendation would be to brace the card with a PCIe bracket that can help to hold the weight, or test the card in a different slot where the card may be stably running at PCIe 3.0 speeds and showing consistent performance. We are sorry that you were not satisfied with the RMA solution that we are offering you.

No I am not happy, and its funny that EVERY EVGA 1080 card has a backplate on it.
Hmmm, I wonder why?
Could it be because of this sagging? Or because the mainboards are so thin nowadays that this is a recurring issue and there needs to be backplates to minimize the RMA's?
My 780GTX is just as large, has that huge heatsink with 2 fans on it, and the same placement for the power pins, and it hasnt had one single issue. Not 1. But you guys are trying to tell me its my motherboard and not your 900 series video cards. Yeah, right.

Edit:
And, I cant even get into the evga for sale section.
And, yes, I clicked on the link that says click here if you are having issues reading this forum. It just goes straight to the products page.
I even went to Community, and read the sticky there.

Asus here I come.

I understand your concerns, the backplate that is on the cards is largely aesthetic and does little to aid in the structure of the card. Titan cards are designed by Nvidia directly and they design the metal base-plate and cooler to hold the weight. Again I am using a Titan card and it too does not have a backplate, and card bending is not an issue. If that was a common issue for that card then the complaints we would get would be widespread and this is the first case I have heard of bending on a Titan card.

Re: Titan X not going pci-e 3.x anymore, 2nd card 2017/05/09 15:15:17 (permalink)
Well, fyi, I have an Asus ROG Forumala 3 motherboard, the one with the backplate and frontplate, so it doesnt bend.
So, I guarentee its not the motherboard bending.
I am going to have the wife help me. We have a straight edge, and I am going to take pics of the 780's very miniscule bend, and the titans huge bend.
Hopefully, I can post them tomorrow, as I am pretty hurting just from doing the dust cleanout of the case a couple days ago.

And, really, this will be my 3rd card. Its a $1000 video card (when I bought it). I spent almost $50 on the corsair kit, and another $120 on an H90, because everyone said to water cool it and I shouldnt have any issues with it at all, that even the reviews said they ran hot. So, I spent almost $1200 on 2 of these cards to get them to works right. They havent.
Yet 1 person with a crappy $100 950 card you guys end up giving a 1080 to?

And, I got video of my card making lines on my monitor, and finally giving up the ghost as it were. But, when I tie it back up, it works a bit until it just gets worse and worse and worse again. But, when you guys use it at the shop, it works totally fine, not a single issue? Maybe because you guys put them in a clamp like device, straight up, and have a set few tests you do to see if they are 'good' ?

Yes, I am very mad that you guys arent making this right for me. Very mad.
Especially since this is the very first video card I have EVER had a problem with. And I have been computing since 1995.
I still have a single core Athlon system that runs win 98se.
I still have 8800GT's that still run as good as the day they were made, in sli also.
I still have 7-8 old motherboards with cpu's and memory that still work as good as the day I bought them.
I still have an IBM type mechanical keyboard that was that port before com port (or was it after?), that huge round port, that I got an adapter to ps/2, and it still works.

In other words, I take VERY good care of my stuff.
I have been building systems since 1995.
I went through the water cooler phase, before there were even any AIO kits.
I have only ever overclocked 2 things before also: 2 Intel cpus, one Core 2 Duo, and my old gaming machines original I7, before they made the I5 and I3's (which still runs, its just a tad slow since it is so old).
I am not a kid.
I do not abuse my hardware.

I bought a $1000 video card that lasted 6 months. And the replacement you guys sent me worked for 3 weeks. How do you think the 3rd card is going to do? Do you think it will work? I seriously have my doubts.
Its like throwing away $1k, for nothing, Since my 780 works better than either of the 2 titan x's did after they got 'bent'.

Thanks for nothing.

Thanks.
They need to fix the link, as it does not go to that area.

Also, at RayH
What pci video card holder do you use?
I only have found 1, and it doesnt say what video cards it will fit.

This might help you find a suitable bracket: https://forums.evga.com/My-980-is-sagging-m2665163.aspx

Also, I have a ASUS z170 TUF with the backplate and thermal armor and have a slight sag in my 980ti and 1080ti. I know you probably don't want to hear it but those backplates don't do squat for stability. It's an ASUS issue IMO. You just have an extreme case of it. Just my 2 cents.

If so, then why does my 780GTX with the huge cooler and heatsink not sag at all?
And that card works p e r f e c t l y in my system, but the titan doesnt?
Also, I have tried a gtx770 in the same system, and it woks perfectly also.
Nope.
Not even close to being the truth that its the mobo.
The frikin titan BENDS at the rear corner. Thats the issue.
And once its bent, it acts all wonky in games, and even the desktop.
And then the card is toast. It may work 'ok' when you strap it back up, but it is never the same after that. And, it just gets worse and worse over time. :(

Funny how there are so many issues with so many people with the 980's and titans and DP and G-Sync, but they are all fine in the 'test bench' (yes, I know someone who works for nvidia, and know how they do their tests, and what is considered passing or not, and I doubt evga tests any better than nvidia does. Let them test it in a real system, not a vise-like pci-e slot that is on a bench. And let them run games through it, for days. But, no, they test the same tests over and over, a 10 to 15 minute pre-determined set of tests, that hardly ever fail, because? Well, they are a set test, and it will only show errors when certain things are tested. Anywho....)
Thanks for the link. Sincerly.
I hope I win one of those 1080's, so I can be done with this trash card. Pay $1k for a card that doesnt work. What a bargain.

Re: Titan X not going pci-e 3.x anymore, 2nd card 2017/08/22 15:48:43 (permalink)
Well, I am going to try it out instead of selling it, even though its an old card (you can tell its all scratched up and smudged), and they didnt even give me my caps back from the back of the card to cover the empty sockets.
If this one goes out, I will rma again, and again, and again, and again, until I get one that works for more than 3 weeks. (and this time, I am not going to let it slowly go bad over time, I am going to rma right away).
I have decided to not put the water cooling on it this time, since I will probably have to just send it back soon anyway.
For the moment, I havent even gamed with it, as it took me almost 2 hours to put in (I am disabled, and been crying the whole almost last 2 hours, stupid EVGA card), and I also rigged a fan to blow over the back (top) of it, and kind of just a little bit into the fins at the very front (fan side).
I am hoping this, along with the string holding it up straight, will make it last longer. (I have had the side fan blowing cool air into it from the start, the case comes that way).

Funny, how the GPU core has gone to 67% just sitting here typing in a web browser though. Hmmmmmm......
GPU core temp has been low 84.2F and high of 91.4F. Just sitting here typing in this browser.
Going to keep logs, as this is one of the things the other 2 cards did, was slowly the temps kept getting higher and higher the longer I had the card (not the longer I had the machine on, the longer I actually had the video card), even when I was doing that 'All on all the time' thing Sajin told me about, with Afterburner or PrecisionX.

Please please PLEASE GOD let me have a good card that doesnt slowly start going bad. PLEASE!

And, I also did Sajin's clean machine thing, and found out that Nvidia Experience was installed (yay DDU), although I have never installed it before, and it wasnt in MS uninstaller nor Nvidia's uninstaller

Re: Titan X not going pci-e 3.x anymore, 2nd card 2017/08/22 18:10:29 (permalink)
Wow.
I have to say this RMA'd card SUCKS.
I just got into the LOBBY for Warhammer Vermintide, and it was still on the GTX780 settings (ie: all medium and low, plus dof, blur, shadows, and some other stuff OFF), and the temp's got to 183.2 F, 83.8889 C.
And that wasnt even PLAYING the game!
That was just in the launcher basically, where you choose which map TO play.
Ambient temperature in my room (right above my computer, so it has to be colder on the ground) is 71 F, 21.6667 C.

This is freaking outrageous.
I have jumped through every hoop the mods, EVGA, and the community have had to offer, and I just cant get a good freakin Titan video card.
Its always some hoop to jump through, or the users fault, when everything I have is way more than enough that this card should run both properly AND cool enough to NOT throttle or harm the card.

I will be actually playing a game with the card in about 20 minutes, will let you all know how it goes.

Re: Titan X not going pci-e 3.x anymore, 2nd card 2017/08/22 20:20:31 (permalink)
OK.
So...

Gaming, in not even a new game, Warhammer Vermintide, I get:

Temp: 185F 85C
99% GPU usage
54% Fan speed
74% GPU Memory Controller
29.9% GPU Memory used
GPU Fan Speed: 2533 RPM

But, I am getting more FPS in Vermintide than I was with the old card I just sent in. I am getting no less than 109 FPS. My old card started at that much, then went down to in the 90's, then 80's, then lower into the 70's and eventually the 60's, which is when I sent the rma in.

So, do those numbers look out of whack to anyone? Because they do to me. Especially the GPU usage vs fan speed. And, the 85c is just ridiculous to be running games at. And, not even a new game.

I will run new games tomorrow (Sniper Elite 4 and Dead Rising 4, both which taxed the 2nd water cooled Titan I just sent in a whole lot more than Vermintide does), and see what the temps get up to.

That temp is normal for auto fan speed. Time to crank the fan speed up.

I am not using any software anymore.
I am thinking that software may be messing things up.
If evga wont send out a bios to have more aggressive speeds like they did with the 1080ti's, then thats what it is going to be.
I will run it as-is.
I have asked for a more aggressive bios, and they said no.
I will see if the card lasts longer w/o the precisionx or msi.

Re: Titan X not going pci-e 3.x anymore, 2nd card 2017/08/25 22:26:19 (permalink)
With heavier games (Sniper Elite 4, Dead Rising 4, Shadow Warrior 2. And none of them are on Ultra with everything maxxed out. I have stuff turned off, and some on low, and some one high) I am getting:

185F heat
99% gpu core
100% memory controller (how can this be if the memory used is only 35%? Can the card NOT have more than 35% memory used, if the memory controller is 100% in use when only 35% memory is used? This does not make sense at all to me).
35% gpu memory
53% fan speed

So, I dont know what to make of this.
But, until the fps starts lowering on games again (which it will), I am happy, as long as I dont get stutters from something being 100%'ed, or losing frames.

EDIT (still 71F (21.6667c) in the room, and AC pointing down towards the computer, still):
Mirrors Edge Catalyst results:

And, even more, bad, 186.8F, 86C.
99% gpu core
100% memory controller
42.9% gpu memory
2555 fan speed (funny, the fan speeds go higher, but open hardware monitor says 53% fan speed almost all the time for these upper heat tests. I wonder if 53% is the internal LIMIT for the fan controller without any 3rd party software installed? If so, that is seriously bad, and even now, you can tell there needs to be a better, more aggressive fan curve for these Titan X cards).
See pics. CPU temps are nice and cool. Mobo temps are nice and cool. Its only the Video card that is having issues. It has only EVER been the video card that has had issues.

I am afraid to do professional benchmarks with this thing, because I think it would actually break the card where it will slowly start dying again like the last 2. And, I have done pro benchmarks since my GTX580. But with these Titan X cards, every time I have done that, they have started slowly dying. I water cooled the 2nd titan x they sent me, and the gpu ran very cool under very heavy loads like these games I am playing still, and it didnt last 3 weeks before it started having issues. So, cooling the gpu core chip is not the issue. I wish I could afford the double sided stick tape to attach my aluminum heatsinks to the memory on the backside of the card (I have some left over from when I water cooled my 580, but the tape has been used, and none left). BUT, I dont think the memory is the problem, as my little (very cheap, but it works) laser heat sensor shows the memory is running cool since I put the fan blowing across the back side (top) of the card.
Is this starting to sound familiar to anyone else? Something about cheap cooling and certain parts of the board are getting too hot? And what did evga do? They recalled the 1080's, and started putting out bios' with more aggressive fan settings.
But, when asked to JUST put out a vid bios with more aggressive settings for the Titan X, BY USERS ASKING ONLY (no need to recall, just give it to the people asking for it), evga refuses to do so. Why? I am guessing because even though they SAY they fully support the cards for 3 or 5 years, as soon as the next lineup is out the door, they could care less about any complaints about the cards that have been replaced by the next gen cards (last gen cards are forgotten and thrown to the wayside, and screw the consumer. Let them wail and whine and TRY to solve it themselves, jump through tons of hoops that dont make anything any better, EVER, when evga could have an easy fix in less than a day).
Shame on you evga.
Shame shame shame on you.

So, here are the pics of the hotter video card (mind you, these are games I am still playing, I have not finished them. If I have finished them, I am restarting the games because they were good, or am playing on a higher difficulty). And, like I said, I would like to professionally benchmark the card, but I am afraid the card will break down again).

my card is a 275w bios set card   I guess  you can find that from here for a example ??

Board power limit
  Target: 250.0 W
  Limit: 275.0 W
  Adj. Range: -40%, +10%  [ 250w + the added  10% = 275w limit]

ya, buddy  my ''LAST'' 3 asus boards were sabertooths  -  I think in my opinion sabertooth branded boards were ment to sink there asus teeth in to your billfold  . the most unstable hunk of junk I ever owned   [just my opinion]  I now see if a motherboard gets 10 30 bios updates for ''improved stability  '' makes me wonder how stable and compatible  it was from the start to need all that   [you can tell from asus support pages quite a few bios revisions been removed  to make that look better  like bios 1701 ??  , good ol' asus / more opinion ]

I guess all you can do is test that card in another stable strong build to see if its works as normal or if the same results as you got with it now to see ?? then weed things out .

I can be nice to have a known fully working back up build handy to test these thins when they pop up or a good buddy that will let you use his build to trouble shoot

good luck

Re: Titan X not going pci-e 3.x anymore, 2nd card 2017/08/28 09:10:29 (permalink)
I am wondering if something else might be an issue that is effecting your video card. I have a Titan X Maxwell and have never encounterd anything remotely like you have posted. I have used eVga for myself as well as clients. I have an older Asus mobo as well and have not seen any bending or anything from my Titan or temps being that high even with air. Sorry you're having what seems to be bad luck with the Titan's or something might be off with the motherboard sensors.

Motherboard sensors? Those temps are GPU temps, not mobo temps.

And, those are the temps that have been on all 3 cards. So, yes, its the cards, not anything else.
I have done watercooling and the gpu temps go down, yes, but the card still goes out the same exact way, wether on air or water cooling.
I am tired of everyone saying its the mobo, or this, or that, when I jumped through every hoop everyone suggested, and at the end, the same result 2x.
I hope this doesnt happen with this card though. I really dont.

So far this card is starting out exactly like the 1st two, with the temps, and the cruddy pop-in.
BUT, the FPS are as good as the 1st brand new card, so thats good. I hope it works longer than that card did though. And that the fps stays even, and doesnt start dropping like both previous cards did.

See my posts here about the card crashing:
https://forums.evga.com/EVGA-GeForce-TITAN-X-Hybrid-randomly-overheating-m2715489.aspx

And this thread here about the 3rd titan x crashing on me since the first day I got it.

It shuts my machine off (heat, the fans dont go on high enough to keep it cool when the inside temp is 71F, or crashes my games (at LEAST every other time I play a game, and always when I play more than 1 game (the card seems to retain the heat instead of getting rid of it, so it keeps getting hotter and hotter and hotter until it crashes).

I have dump files of the crashes.

Will someone here (an EVGA member), who has seen my posts since the first time I have had issues with the first card until now, and I have done MORE than my due diligence in trying to get these cards to work, help me in getting anew card? One that just 'might' actually work in my system?
Please?
Pretty please, with EVGA on top?

I just want to play my games.

Thank you.
And here is an image I grabbed.
I should not have to have 3rd party apps installed to NOT make my computer crash (and this 3rd card has crashed from the very begining).
You can see my room temps are good, my system temps are good, but this card just keeps crashing.
And, I am on my 3rd card now.
It is getting to be very bad.
:(

Yes, and all I get is a tech that knows nothing about my issues, and says 'well your last card was good, its just you'.
Starting to really really irritate me and get on my nerves badly.

I just got yet ANOTHER crash in a game.
I played Warhammer Vermintide just fine.
Switched to Tom Clancy Wildlands and about 20 minutes into Wildlands BAM! Computer crashes.
Even with the fan at 100% the video card got to over 181F, and the system crashed and rebooted.

This is getting to be super ridiculous.
