I need to know a good CPU cooler. The one I had before is 775 socket, and will not fit this 2011. I want a good one. Any suggestions?

I like the corsair's AIO cooler that I have assuming you have a place you can put a 240mm radiator.
Not sure what good air or water cooling options are out there now however.

Personally I would go with the V-8 .  Comparison Chart (http://www.microcenter.co...Dk2NjkyNyZwYWdlPTE%3D) Due to 4 more heat pipes and 30 more CFM, I have one on my X-58 I-7 920 hand picked CPU. Never had a overheating problem.

To answer your question about PCIe slot 1 or 4 here is your answer (http://forums.evga.com/Use-4th-PCIE-slot-for-main-GPU-x99-classified-m2421355.aspx) says he talked to a EVGA rep and said it should work.

NH-D15 is still probably the best air cpu cooler on the market.

That would not be the wisest of decisions. Closed loop coolers are very good and the better models allow for some good overclocking. Easy to install as well.

If however you must use air cooling this is a relatively new article which may be helpful:

Ok, got to ask ---- Why only air cooling for a 5960X ??   140 Watts is a lot of heat to remove.

My Swiftech H240-X is keeping my 5960X happy while benching my EVGA X99 Classified, before installing the custom H2O loop - just in case.

I went ahead and purchased the CM D92. If I don't like it, then I'll probably get the Noctua NH-D15.

Anyway, I have that Evga read out in the front of my case that I was able to use with my P67. It gave a choice to be able to see a display of the CPU temp, or the post codes. I can't figure out where to plug it in at with this X99. Anyone know where to plug it in at?

You should bought NH-U9S if you don't want AIO.
He is small, but package is nice and cooling is excellent for that size.
Up to 4.2GHz you will not have problems with temp. And on resistor is 1500RPM, not loud.
But you can see motherboard, memory LED, everything... With NH-D15 nothing...

I have to agree about the Noctua cooler if you insist on staying with air-cooling but I would worry about clearance issues with the RAM slot location on the X99 platform. Just a thought.

Where did you plug it into on your P67 board?  What type of connector?  I recall something like that, but can't find any info on it anymore.  Will look a bit more.

It has two plugs on it. An 8 pin plug, and a 16 pin plug. There's no where on the X99 board that has a place for those to plug into. This X99 board was probably made without the LED readout support for that device.

Other things I want to mention about this board. My video card fans have not done any spinning at all. The case is open, and the house isn't warm at all. Also on start up, there's beeps  "beep, beep, beep - beep, beep, beep" in rapid succession with code 9c (USB detect), but still runs fine, and starts up ok.

Yeah, I was thinking that readout hardware you're asking about may have been something for use with that era EVGA motherboard or possibly something exclusive to the P67 boards, not sure.

I have those same beeps as you describe.  I've watched the codes as it boots up and it seems to go through the normal progression and then Windows loads.  Everything has been running very good for me for a couple weeks now.  The only option I've found related to those beeps is to disable them completely.  But I like hearing the post beep so left that setting enabled.  I'm getting used to the extra beeps now during boot up...

I believe in the Bios there's something I saw relating to disabling the beeps. I also will keep them enabled. As for the GPU fans, I read it has to reach 60c before they spin. I guess it's pretty cool in the house right now. Also the case is still open so I can continue working on it until I'm done. Need to see those post codes for now.

On-board PCIe dip switches all enabled?  All PCIe slots enabled in the BIOS?  Have you tried it in any other slot?

I fixed it by reseating the sound card. Also the GPU fans do work. All I need to do now is finish installing all my software. Also, need to take more pics for the Mods Rig.

Welcome to X99 onwers club. Club of smart people who payed 6 core as 4 and Quad Channel as Dual.
Intel give us chance this year and next time... you never know.
Really weird that you decide to go with 1300 G2 instead 1000 P2 example or 1200 P2.
Or you bought before they show up or some extreme nice offer.
You only forgot on Black Sleeve Cables, and that would be same RIG as I planned before I figure out some things...
