I just installed my Hybrid kit on my FTW3 Ultra 3090 last night. I had some high temps at first but after moving my radiator up top like you did and having the fans exhaust heat out the top of the case I'm back in the high 50s low 60s with temps. The card is also clocking higher so while the temp decrease isn't as dramatic as I hoped, it's throwing more power so it's a win win all around. I see your GPU2 temp is also slightly high like mine, I thought I did something wrong but I guess not. Does anyone know what GPU2 represents?

Is that 50 to 60 at load or idle? :P heh....I hope at load.

How interesting, switching to the OC BIOS actually gave me a minute score increase, but that could be due to slightly lower load temperature too... load temp peaked at 53C:

Again, almost exclusively seeing PWR as the PerfCap reason, with a slight twing of VRel in there (the blue).

I wonder if that "best" score on a 9900K/3090 combo is on a Kingpin card, or if the CPU was heavily OCed or what.

Definitely at load.

OC BIOS with Power Limit at 107%, no other tweaks or changes (stock still on the GPU completely):

I'm actually seeing mostly a mix of PerfCap being PWR & VRel now, hit 452W and stayed there or below, PCIe slot is pulling over-spec, which I don't like, but we trod on.

Nearly 100pt gain from just changing power limit is pretty funny though, especially since the GPU max clock seen during the benchmark did NOT change.

So in order to get temps that won't end in multiple RMAs per year of ownership we should all get Hybrid's or Kingpins?  Interesting.  Whish I had known.  Oh well..

Nice build btw, love that case setup.

That's not really the case.  Just need good airflow etc.  My 3080 FTW3 Ultra (air cooled) ran in the high 60s even while OCed with the fans maxing out at 80% speed (not 100% cuz that lowers your power limit a bit).

This thing definitely runs much cooler than most people are reporting in their air-cooled 3090s though, that's for sure, especially on the GDDR6X vRAM.

You can also undervolt your card, allowing for a performance increase over stock while also reducing temps.  My 3090 FTW3 Ultra temps are 55c-56c @925mV (around 1950 MHz core) or 58c-59c @950mV (around 2010 MHz core) on air.  My hybrid kit should be here today, so I'm sure temps will be reduced even further after install.

BRUH Markuaw from these forums is the top score with the 9900K/3090 combo lol  He's hitting 2205 on the core, I don't think I can get that high but who knows (OOOOOOH he's on sub-ambient cooling, average GPU temp for his run was 34C vs mine was 50C, that's probably a big part of the GPU clock difference).
Just hit 14178 with a modest +105 core, +200 vRAM OC, hitting hard power limiting now, for the whole test.  That's with GPUz still running in the background so I think I can do even better.  Also not sure if these drivers are the best for scoring, but I'm using these drivers for Cyberpunk 2077 so it's less about benchmark scores & more about gaming stability :-P

https://www.3dmark.com/pr/643611 all things considered, I'm happy to be over the 14K mark already without even using the XOC BIOS from these forums (yet).

My 3090 FTW3 air cooled sits at 66 or so full load during gaming with an OC and no undervolt.... so I'm not sure how you drew that conclusion.

Have you played any games yet? How are the frame rates?  Does it crush ultra high settings in game? I'm curious about real performances.

It's the current record on the 9900K/3090 setup, I'll pull it up real quick: https://www.3dmark.com/pr/629637 definitely chilled liquid, by my guess, otherwise that temp average is insanity.

First dabble at undervolting, VF curve in Afterburner is set to 2040MHz @ 981mV - Max load temp went DOWN to 52C (from 55-57C in previous runs), score is UP from stock (which runs at higher voltage) to 14119: https://www.3dmark.com/pr/643637

Oddly it actually only hit 2025Mhz during the test, not sure why that is.  And the best part about the undervolt... no Power Limit except for one tiny moment during the test which I think is an anomolous reading to be honest, because it said PWR & Thermal, thermal is not possibly an actual PerfCap reason at the temps this thing is running.

Soon, right I'm enjoying fiddling with undervolting to see if I can strike that perfect balance of power draw/temperature & clocks, so that games will run cooler while also running at better-than-stock FPS.

Thanks.  I am running a similar setup to both of you, just curious what others that actually push the 3090FTWs (both air and hybrid) were hitting.

Badger, congrats on the card(s)! And thank you for sharing your experience, from queue to delivery, to installation. A question for you - do you know the rad height dimension (with stock fans installed)? And do you know if that dimension is the same for the 3080 FTW3 Ultra Hybrid? I'm trying to determine if I can fit the 3080 Hybrid variant in my NZXT H710 case (the NZXT Z63 rad and fans were just barely too tall at a 56 mm listed height to be top-mounted).

It's a standard size aio on both of them, radiator is around 30mm & fans are 25mm, so you're looking at 55-56mm total.

That I can do. I'll be playing some Cyberpunk later, I'll have HWInfo open (cuz I always do so I have the temps in my OSD), I'll post a screenshot after the session with the maximum temps showing, it reads the iCX temps so will be guud info.

From the looks of it, I should be able to run 2055-2070 at an undervolt... I will have to try that out!

+120 / +200 ran without issue, still not getting much warmer on temps either, hitting power limit PerfCap despite only hitting 454W draw, that's kinda annoying considering I'm on the supposed 500W XOC BIOS, but there's a lot of reports of that being the case in the thread.

hey man congratulations, tomorrow i will receive mine...can't wait to test it...i was wondering have you already updated bios? is it safe? also with last precision version?

Seems to be perfectly fine, the XOC BIOS I mean.  There is no firmware or any of that update from Precision X1 if that's what you mean, the Hybrid card, I would assume, already has that update from the factory (as compared to regular cards that may not).
I am getting power limited at 450-475W and not getting the full 500, so far, but I'm also not hitting said power limit very much in actual usage, just in benchmarks.

Np on no furmark, i just wanted to see icx temps during a workload.

Here's some slightly undervolted Cyberpunk numbers (running at a set curve of 1995MHz @ 950mV, but it's only doing 1980MHz, still higher than it runs stock though):

I would assume at stock it's going to run hotter, & draw more power... while also getting slightly worse FPS. lol

Some parts on the board are definitely still getting warm though, 63C on one VRM monitor & 62C on the one vRAM monitor.
Still, if you compare that to review numbers for the FE & regular 3090 FTW3 Ultra, those are lower temps than those models, and that's while running an actual game (that is a very heavy load, I'm running RT on Psycho so it's fully global RT illumination stuff), not a benchmark.

ah good to know! do you suggest to use XOC bios also without oc and for daily usage? i have 1200w psu

What update from the Factory? I have a day one 'regular' card, no issue hitting 500 with XOC...

Hey thank you for the screenshot! Looks like our cards are quite similar, I also set an undervolt for 2010mhz, but it'll only run at 1980mhz as well.

Overall I'm satisfied with the hybrid. Even if the 500w bios worked, 500w is a tall order for a thin 240mm rad even running push/pull

Seems like a vary knowledgeable thread. I have a 3090 hybrid XC3 at home in a box that just arrived but I literally just got the email to buy the FTW3 3090 hybrid. Anyone here able to break down how much better the FTW3 is vs the XC3 ?

Not sure if I should just save the 200$ difference and use the XC3 hybrid or return it and buy the FTW hybrid

There was a firmware update for the early-launch 3080s that Precision X1 prompted people to install on first use, not sure if the 3090s had it as well or not.

If you're not going to OC the card for daily use, the XOC BIOS doesn't even have much of a point in being installed, unless you just want the extra power target "because it exists", it serves no real purpose if you're not OCing a lot.

If I were you I'd look in to undervolting.  You can either get an overclock while running cooler and less voltage, or if you want to run "stock" speeds, you can undervolt quite a bit and thusly have much lower temps than what "stock" normally runs at.
Even on the Hybrid card, I'm seeing a decent temperature decrease at 1995/1980MHz @ 950mV.  I imagine the 1935MHz @ 900mV would run even cooler that I was testing earlier, and that's pretty much where the card runs at stock, at least speed wise, but it runs 1905-1935MHz while using 1.05V+, resulting in much higher temps.

I'm going to test out the undervolt I had on earlier at some point, it was something like 2040MHz @ 981mV, tested through Port Royal just fine, and gave me a higher score than a +105 offset, while running 3-5C cooler throughout the test.

I'm definitely happy with the performance of the cooler so far, that's for sure.  I want to set it up in push/pull, but with my current mounting situation, that will be "fun", and not the good kind. lol
