#1 Reflash the bios with the latest bios that isn't beta. 0701. If no dice..
#2 Replace cpu. If no dice...

Wouldn't hurt to try it again, but at some point you're gonna have to start trying different things to fix the problem.

The cpu could be messed up, but partially working.

what started to be a nice project with kids building 1 computer for them and them why not another one this one , has become more a time consumer than anything considering I work a lot and the hours I spend the night on this computer to troubleshout is a lot but well I was loving it but now turned into a nightmare well.

Re: System Failed Overclock After Reboot. i dont get it. STOCK 2019/01/12 18:06:53 (permalink)
well, hi all . Yesterday i spoke with Asus what they could reccomand to me about the board and they were pretty funny actually. i did speak to a manager and he took the time to listen to me and give advice but well. I had the choice to send it to them with a 35 us $ for inspection. and Around 350 $ quote average without seeing the board from asus. I was like well that around 500 cad. haha i mean at this point is not a money thing, its mostly the hobby and time i did put on the project i could not fail and forfeit. So i tried to persist on them to maybe deal on the price or  make it rush so i can use it.,  but well there is not a repair center close, the closest one is at around 6.5 hour drive from my house. The manager told me that i can go straight to asus repair center, and the technician there would take the time with me to talk about it and look the problem. he even told me that i could negociate the price hahahahha. So anyway i did go get a Maximus vii hero, with a i5 4670 and im pretty impresse by it its only a 4 core but its fast !!!! i overclock it and here we go ! . Ive never done a windows installation as quick as it was… incredible fast. my ssd on benchmark is even running at higher speed that it should run haha, not a single error during installation or issue . ALL good with the maximus VII hero… got back home at around 23h55, finish re-build the computer with processor and new board etc, clean up in wire again and install windows freshly , all done at around 5 in the morning. hahaha.

BUT, today like i said before i need to go at the end of things and i couldnt resist to look at the rampage. so i decided to clean it and open it and see what going on. The guys at asus did explain to me what was cpu contamination etc.  So i knew what to look for.  I knew also the computer shop did work on it . So what could be bad if i give another try ???? Well belive it or not. its working now 100 % ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………
The asus rampage iv black that worth around 550 us on eBay ??? that yesterday was finish off., is re-born. HEHE.
And oh by the way sli is nuts. im going tri sli well see if better :P

Thanks for help and thanks for support, sorry for my poor English il try to be better each day writing poèmes here..

Re: System Failed Overclock After Reboot. i dont get it. STOCK 2019/01/12 18:15:50 (permalink)
this motherboard is in the best motherboard in the world if not the best actually. you cant burn a cpu , you cant burn the board. its just not possible. if a water leak on it yes, if physical damage on it yes. but otherwise this board is a art pieces and its indestructible. the setting in this motherboard make it invincible. there is safety setting over any setting that you will try so you cant broke it or damage it from setting. there is always a way to recover and do over.  like the guy at asus say, you pay for what you got. The other board ROG, even this maximus. its nottttt the same quality or feature. yes the bios is nice, its maybe quicker, yes there is nice led and aura sync. but he you want a indestructible board with performance or you want leds ??? haha,. this story made me learn a lot on computer and on rog product, i had my first ROG asus maximus III formula about 10 years ago. and those are the best product you can get. 100 %
*(im not saying evga is not good i didnt try them so)*

He sup mate.

No, like i said i could not resist at tryng to repair it again, if i was going to fail , il just go either to asus center in Toronto, or il use the guy on eBay he charge 200 $ cad for a 2011 socket repair.
so i give it a try for about 3- hours straight, And i did it. first boot already good.

that is pretty funny. the computer never been oced when putting the extra card stock setting all the time except 1 time just to see .my toughts is the single pin that was reaching when the cpu has been put on place first time and it got pressed a bit but maybe it was loose a bit also after this and some time to time when she become hot the metal expand and touching other pins maybe or not doing 100% good contact at cold start in my basement and was giving beep error once i was booting the computer in the morning when  it have been stalled for longer period. because after it was giving this error booting the beep code  once past bios the computer have the time to heat up and load default and boot to go all day all night no problem i could restart and do anything. The vibration of moving tower, changing ram stick, cards, doing upgrade etc. and once i pulled it out. the pins were fine actually. but there was really only 1 that had damage. i managed it reaching so im just gonna make more test but so far i got all program you can name for test and it pass all test. my xeon never been happier than today.  the last thing im doing is installing that windows again just to be sure but right now there is a setting im missing its install but it stuck at please wait a moment anyway i will figure it but i was pretty busy today so im working on it time to time. something tell me that i did that with the flashing bios,  changing setting in bios, etc  it was a pin problem of course but the around problem was caused by me and by my ignorance and lack of knowledge . so now i know how to troubleshot very good. since i tested it yesterday outside a case and see if it could run., it never failed 1 times. not a single time it give an error or a beep or a bad led nothing. i moved it into a case with all the good stuff and as you seen in the picture it work AA

well guess what… now i think i consider myself an advance amateur in computer. the system is up and 100 % running without any issue. now a single issue. and its doing last update now. i just started the clean install from usb boot tools. because the thing that was doing is  the administrator account was disable and locked. so it wasent accessible.  Had to play in the command console but it wasent an easy game.  so before saying the cpu is toasted. or other components is  broken or toasted. make sure !!!!! …,of the rest.  that my problem i always think i need to dig further. like the conversation i had over the phone with evga adviser for the bridge saying there is no corosion but its full of it. had to be transfer 3 time and at the end they were not even 100 % sure what they were saying. not to be rude….

but i have to agree now that the rampage with a new adata 3dnand was  faster in the installation with the xeon, but way faster than the crucial, the thing is i was short on storage so i did install windows on a cheap hdd from a portable lap top runing only at like 50-60 ish a spinpoint m7 hehe.

it take around 11-12 second for a restart. including doing the nip and opening internet edge. loll
