What the heck lol. You went up like 1000 points on the same clock speeds. How does this work??

15.8 is unicorn bin.

Probably 1K BIOS and cold ambient

That's my guess too. I was hitting all sorts of power limits on my 15.3k run. 520-537 watts, and I couldn't push the core faster because of it. My avg temp was a bit under 40C, I think 37C. I think with XOC and ice water I could hit 15.5k or more, but I'm more nervous of condensation from the freezing water.

So the secret is just to open a window huh? Lol. Sorry already did that. Had a run start as low as 17c.

Also be sure to hit silicon lottery.  That's the other secret sauce.  Why can't everyone just hit 15.8k at room temp?  This guy could crack 16k on a cold night in the garage.

I love that people can pull 15k+ with a little cold air.  I do wish people would include that they're using ice water/dry ice/outside on a 18F evening, just to help sort through some of this.  I'm going to assume you're using some really cold air when your 3dmark temp average is 25C.  My best score came from starting at 10C, and my runs still finish right around 40C.

It’s because the memory never clocks down.

Not super impressed with the stock Kingpin by the results I’m seeing here. My 3090 Suprim X can do 14,500 port royal just fine simply by maxing the fans and using +160/+1000 clocks in afterburner. 14,300 with quiet fans. These <5% marginal gains going to a Kingpin are so incredibly slim :(

The Kingpin is fundamentally an extreme overclocking card. It’s designed to handle liquid nitrogen without hard mods. A lot of people are new to the KPE this time around and they expect it to outperform other 3090s when casually moving the sliders to the right while listening to Dave Matthews Band. That you achieved +5% over another overclocked 3090 is both impressive and not guaranteed.

Except these are supposedly binned and everyone has WILDLY different performance. One guy without doing anything using classified tool is hitting above 15k while a majority of us can't even hit 15k

Suprim X are binned as well. It's MSI's flagship. From what I've read this is supposed to replace the lightning z which I wouldn't consider it a replacement as it doesn't have voltage control.

My associates code is O1RWT3TOQ5NNXP8 if you wanna help !e get my EVGA score up :)

Finally broke 15000 PR with my KingPin 2020/12/25 19:06:52 (permalink)
Barely passed the 15k mark on PR with my KingPin using the stock LN2 bios and MSI AB with +162core and +1200mem. For some reason my +165core gave me a worse score, wonder if it was power throttling. The Avg temp for this was 46c.

That cpu and oc men don't effect port royal that much usually. Low average temp helping a lot though. That would be one of the better chips for sure I've seen here so far.

Yep, download nvidia inspector and make two batch files...

Mem OFF:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\nvidiainspector\nvidiaInspector.exe" -setpstatelimit:0,8

Mem ON:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\nvidiainspector\nvidiaInspector.exe" -setpstatelimit:0,0

Click mem off to stop the issue. Click mem on when ready to use any graphics accelerated apps.

On stock LN2 BIOS, I'm also seeing 120-130 w idle. I think a recent driver update also caused this, I saw in the patch notes from NVIDIA that this is known. Is this also a fix for any high power draw at idle with the 3090 series?

Curious what scores look like on 9900k and at stock clocks. Looking to get a baseline. I end up around 13900. This is on latest hot fix driver.

I can't post any links yet, but I have a 9900k. I had it clocked at 5.1 all the way to 5.3. I can boot up to 5.4 but the voltage that it's requiring may not be worth the test run. When testing for the first time under ln2 setting i scored a 15167, with my cpu at 5.1 with tweaking to the tool and settings I was at a 15300, again also with cpu at 5.1 This was all in my bedroom with no window or any help with my card in my case and no open side panels with a room temp around 67f-69f I believe my overall average temp run from the card was showing 46C\48C on both of those runs. I can test out stock settings in a minute or two.

ran it under normal bios at 5.2 and got a score of 14066 with average temp at 43C, again although I do have a push\pull config on the rad. this was also with no core clock, no mem clock or any tool tweaking just plan stock run in push/pull.

Nice score. What was your GPU and MEM OC? I have a 9900KS and am looking for some comparisons. Thanks!

You can find a lot of my recent testing at higher scores on the 3d mark search page just type in the info and look for the username ToastyPeppers. My highest score currently is 15802 but in order for me to even get that I had to get my temps low starting the test. for the different kinds of comparison on what core and mem clocks I used. I kept my mem between 1400-1500. I notice with my memory, the cooler it is the more I can run it at 18000 but I have to increase mem volt for a stable run. At one point I had it at 20000 mem but I was getting heavy flickering and my pc shutdown on me. Core clock has been all over with different testing. on xoc bios I kept it around 200 up to 265 so far. With a normal run on ln2 bios with my score reaching 15300, I believe my mem was set to 1250-1275 but I do not remember my core clock settings personally maybe my other comparisons could give a little insight on what I used, as I said I went all over different settings trying to figure out what went with what. I plan on cooling it with liquid nitrogen soon not sure when though.
