Anyone here with the optimus kingpin block that can chime in on this? My backplate isn’t flat/straight, is this normal? https://imgur.com/a/3jwu098

Can't say that was the problem I had. At first I thought just your metal plate was bent, but it's the acrylic too, huh? If it was just the metal plate I'd say it'd probably bend back when it's installed. But since it looks like the acrylic is bent, I'd be concerned it'd warp the card too, or have some sealing issues.

I checked the acrylic when it wasn’t mounted to the backplate and it’s straight. But when the acrylic is mounted to the backplate, the backplate bends the acrylic with it.

Huh, the acrylic is more flexible that I thought.  With the main block being a huge chunk of metal, I would think it should all just bend back into place when it gets installed.  Would just make sure to pressure test.

Im waiting for a reply from optimus. I’m worried about leaks and possible stress cracks. For now, my build is gonna be on hold. :(

Please keep us informed as to what Optimus says. My $0.02 is that once everything is screwed down, it will be strait. Not sure how this would make it past QC. On their assembly instructions they do mention that it is possible to have some warping when you tighten down the backplate.
Best of luck!

They must be considering that now and putting pre-camber into the backplate! It'll be flat when you tighten it down! (not serious)

I just got my replacement plates and they are all flat.

Atozglue, I would wait before you try and install and see what they say.

I'm going to try and find the time to work on my GPU this week and compare the old plates with the new ones and see if I can notice any difference other than color. It looks like without comparing it that the new black plates I received has smaller gasket channels machined into it.  I had to work late last night but opened the box the new black colored plates were in.  I didn't have my original silver Kingpin block out last night so I could be wrong.

All temperatures are delta temperature in celcius between GPU core and coolant.
3dmarks stress testing: between 7 and 8. 3dmarks overclock (going for high score): 8. In game runs at 2130mhz: between 5 and 7.

OMG that's insane dude, thank you for sharing. 2130mhz stable is nuts to me. I just got myself a 3080 Ti FTW3 to replace my 1080 Ti FTW3 and you guys are inspiring me to build my own first open loop.

Take the 2130MHz with a grain of salt. I can run mine on the stock cooler and it shows 2145Mhz on the screen but the effective is actually around 2070-2085Mhz. With specific settings I can get it to run at 2100Mhz stable effective but it uses like 600w at that point and on the stock cooler that's like 55-60 degrees on GPU which is a bit toasty.

The effective clock ability and power draw will vary a lot between cards too, so idk how great my sample is. I imagine if I were to use this block I might go up 15-30Mhz effective but that would be an insanely good sample. I already hold the #51 single card PR score in the world with this stock cooler so that might be something to take with a grain of salt also.

Did your box come in damaged?  I'd take pictures of that too and send them Optimus.  I just finished moving over the parts from the old Kingpin block to the new ones I just got last night.  I wont be testing it yet because I have to move all my pc stuff from the O11XL to the Enthoo Pro 2 case first.  New case, more rad and different hard tube assembly, new mobo/ram/nvmes all have to be installed and bench tested prior to doing the block conversion again.  Once I get all the stuff bench tested I'll work on converting the kingpin to the Optimus block.  Until then I have to wait and see how this will work out for me.

No box damage. I’m thinking it happened during the baking process. For cerakote it needs to bake @ 350f for 1 hour. Possibly impurities in the copper caused it to bend? Been 3 days and Optimus has not responded to my emails.

You mean the channel on each inner side of the block, right? So the 'hole' the gasket fits in is 2.22mm x 2.2mm (likely set to be 2.2mm diameter).. yet the gasket is 1.6mm diameter. No surprise there are leaks.

Since they can't make the block channels smaller, they need to make some fatter gaskets, or recall all the blocks and mill and coat new ones, which would probably take another 9 months at least, at the rate they move. What a nightmare.

Or did you mean the 'total' block channel is 1.21mm x 2.2mm, so it's an oval 'hole' when the block is fitted together?

The channel that the gasket sits in is rectangular in shape (90 degree edges), not oval in shape.

Measuring the gasket channel of the kingpin block. It has a depth of 1.21mm and a width 2.2mm. Their gasket is 1.6mm by 1.6mm.

Doh! Thanks.

And I agree, that's why some, including myself, have leak issues with the block.  The quality control on the cut gaskets is terrible.  Mine was not evenly cut, some portions of the gasket were thinner.
