They've fairly recently said they're expanding and trying to streamline operations, but we can see how that has gone so far. Not like things manifest overnight, but Optimus takes their sweet time. Only the future will tell us if they are actually going to improve. They have plans for rads, more fittings, better CS, etc., so if they could actually get it together on production timelines, they could go big. None of that matters though if production capability/capacity doesn't expand, and customer support stays the way it is (slow to non-existent). Also doesn't help that COVID has hit and continues to hit every part of the production line.

So, I'm order #5300... and I got my order in within a couple of hours of the preorders going live... I'm wondering at this point if I should cancel or keep waiting... at the rate they seem to be going I'm willing to bet I'm going to be continuing to wait for the block until February.

I'd keep the order honestly unless you're selling it, or if you're just happy with it as is. As much as I hate to say wait, no one else will be making a block like this for the KPE. Unfortunate reality rn. We also don't know the exact order numbers, so hard to say where your block is in the line. Best of wishes.

For reference, I placed my order within a few hours of the page being live on their site, but not advertised yet (the order page was posted on OCN before "officially" live). My order number was #5217, probably no. 10 - 15 in line going by order numbers from OCN.

Sounds almost like GPU blocks are a kind of side hobby to their main business and not high priority - either that, or this is a 'retirement job' where it's no big deal to them if they fail to deliver. Totally guessing of course, but apparently this is par for the course with OptimusPC. Still very good products, just absolute crap on production planning (I used to work as a production planner years ago - vital to running a successful manufacturing business imho).

Yeah, not selling it. I have a brand new wall-mount Ryzen 9 5950x build I started in late August, had purchased every other component and was expecting to be able to complete it by October at the latest. This is the only part I'm waiting for. Going to be a killer machine when it's done... IF it's ever done before the parts become obsolete.

If only there was some way we, as customers, could contact someone to update us on their service.    Would be nice if something like this existed.

Eh, not going to go all pitchforks and torches on them.  But just looking for consistency and transparency in updates.

This may explain a lot:
"...Optimus Water Cooling Corp has 8 total employees across all of its locations..."

Just not a huge team and support falls down low on the list.

I know.  No use doing that.  Optimus is fully aware of our frustrations and their lack of communication/transparency to customers, but are not willing to change based on pass history.  When they do reply to e-mails, they start off by apologizing for not getting back to their customers in a timely manner.

It's a Christmas miracle!  My order, 5223, was marked as shipped this morning.  Don't think it'll get here by tomorrow (just a label created so far), but should be here before the end of the year.  So they are continuing to roll out, albeit, what appears to be, quite slowly.

Congratulations! Out of curiosity, what was your colour (yes I'm Canadian and that's how we spell colour) of choice for your block and cold plate?  My order is 5240 (so 17 away plus/minus).  Hoping that I get mine next week.

I got the satin nickel finish with the nickel cold plate.  I've got their signature CPU block as well, so was looking to match.

Nice.  I ordered the same for the KPE block.  Good to know that they started rolling out the nickel finish options.  I have the foundation CPU block, silver satin with nickel cold plate...still in a box.

Nice. Yet they have been shipping one KPE block per business day for the past three weeks or so.

Everyone talking about it in this thread right now mostly ordered the same day pre-orders went live. if you didn't order that day you're likely to still have a fairly long wait.

Dang, yep I'm canceling. They have barely shipped any blocks than. At that rate 40 series will be out before they fulfill pre orders.

If I remember correctly, most of the people who preordered the Optimus 2080 ti FTW3 blocks didn't get them until after the RTX 3000 series was launched.

If only there was some way we, as customers, could contact someone to update us on their service.    Would be nice if something like this existed.

They would need to actually respond to emails for that to happen.  I guessing they don't have the time or employees for it.

I wonder what the main issues are with the company other than communication.  The Dun and Bradstreet info says they have about 500,000 in sales per year.  Considering they can sell everything they make and there are always backorders for their products, what can they do to improve production and efficiency?  Is it a lack of equipment?  Old er and/or slower equipment equipment?  The pieces take too much machine time?  The equipment is mostly dedicated to production for their other non PC parts contracts?

One good thing about being in Covid isolation is that no contractors can be in my house.  With that, I started the process of the conversion from AIO to block and I'm about mid way through.  For those of you who are going to go through this, I have to share the EVGA instructions on converting the KP AIO to their waterblock are really good and helpful in taking apart the hybrid KP.  I have my gpu down to pcb and will start cleaning it up in a bit.

As for preorders, I ordered mines on the 28th.  If you check back through the thread you can see when pre-orders started since someone posted here which I saw and then immediately went in to purchase one myself.  I am hoping you guys get your orders soon as the wait has been too long already.

Did you have to heat up the back plate to remove it or you had no problems?

From what limited info I've seen on OCN, they have one guy responding there and sometimes here. The rest of the CS team is probably small but iirc they added a few people recently. Going on info they've provided in the past.

Their facility, from what I've seen, is pretty small. They've been talking about expanding and doing in-house everything like Watercool to cut down on long machining and finishing times. How much that will help, who knows, but I think they're getting there, slow as usual haha.

Check back through their official OCN account for full details.

Mech9t5,
I didn't heat mines up at all.  I used a plastic pry bar to pop it off the pcb.  The back plate was the hardest to remove.  There is a double sided tape in the corner near the dip switches that create a bit of a stick when you try to remove the rear plate.  On my KP, EVGA used a lot of thermal putty which once you pop it comes comes off pretty easy.  I just finished cleaning up the PCB of thermal putty and thermal paste.  I'm now taking a short break prior to assembly of the block onto the gpu.

The EVGA instructions were really good for the disassembly of the block.  Follow those and you should be good.

Just finished up the block conversion.  The optimus instructions are okay, but be sure to read ahead and plan.  The alignment of the two plates and the top port can be tricky so read ahead and plan for pages 3/4 of their instructions.  I have to leak test this tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure it should be fine.  The use of instructions from the EVGA hydrocopper block conversion is really good for taking apart the Hybrid.  Read that a few times and follow the disassembly instructions and you should be golden.

My block is Silver Cerakote with Nickel cold plate.  The silver cerakote is nice, but there are imperfections that kinda look like over-spray in certain areas.  Nothing too noticeable, but not perfect either.

The finished block is really heavy.  I would not feel comfortable mounting this horizontal without major support brackets to help spread the weight load.  If I was to mount this horizontal into the PCI slot, I would use the Lian Li GPU anti-sag bracket, and then also a gpu post support to help hold up the front.  This thing is that heavy.  Vertical mount should be fine as you are not loading weight onto the PCI slot.  I bought the Lian Li O11 XL vertical mount bracket with the PCI-E 4.0 riser cable.  I am already running a PCI-E 4.0 cable in my vertical mount, but this vertical mount kit will allow me to adjust the gpu position either further/closer to the mobo because the vertical mount has multiple locations to mount the PCI-E riser cable.  It will still be a while before I'm able to get this into my pc, but atleast the conversion is done.

Merry Christmas to everyone.  Be safe cause Covid does suck.  My son has it so we are all stuck in not being able to go out.  Thankfully his symptoms so far seem to be mild overall.  He is vaccinated so I am assuming he has the Omicron.  Take care of yourself and your families.

That's the satin nickel cerakote? Looks like an off white beige color.

Kinda sucks they got rid of the real nickel plating. But glad I chose black. Let's see if I get mine before February.
