Re: New Titan Xp 7 per cent faster than FE, FTW3 should close that Gap 2017/04/06 11:12:39 (permalink)
Seen this coming as AMD is getting closer to releasing there next card.

Not surprised at the price point either. Gotta milk the people who would buy one of those then release a new series in 6 months from now to make the purchase worthless. Rinse, repeat.

This is why I buy the xx70 series when it's 50% or more increase in performance.

Weird, how you managed to get my edit back in the post. How did you manage that?  That was removed on purpose just a few seconds after making the post.

It showed on my phone as unedited, exactly as it was when I hit quote, until well after I replied, lol.  I moved over to my work PC because of a lightning storm knocking out cell signal.

Truly epic trolling by Nvidia. Well done I say. You just have to laugh at this point and the butt hurt Ti owners is comical. They are in a frenzy right now on various forums.

I am really happy with my GTX 1080 Ti FE Graphics Cards from EVGA, my only regret was that EVGA did not have the Hydro Cooper Water Blocks Ready for Release when they released the GTX 1080 Ti FE Card.
They are Running Strong @ 2138 in all the Applications or Programs I am running.

I've moved this thread to General Hardware until I receive info from EVGA. However, it will remain here if EVGA decides this is the correct forum.

Wow... I wonder how many are going to sell their Ti cards now? LOL

I'm not...  don't see a need for an extra 4 fps.

Everyone still within their 30 return period shouldn't need to sell

Also going to be lot more than 4 fps increase and that's not counting overclocked.

So, technically there never was officially a Titan XP... only a the Titan X (2016 model) which everybody just nicknames to Titan XP.

This is the REAL Titan XP. Interesting.

Finally made it to a real computer instead of my phone.  2013 It was a Titan.  2014 it was a Titan Black.  2015 it was a GeForce Titan X, 2016 it was a NVidia Titan X and NVidia probably liked the name of it being called Titan XP, so 2017 gets the NVidia Titan Xp

This is from NVidia website (leaving the TI variant, since it is essentially the same card with minor differences each time):

NVIDIA TITAN Xp (new!)
NVIDIA TITAN X (Note: not a GeForce Titan X, a NVidia Titan X)
GeForce GTX 1080 Ti

GeForce GTX TITAN X (Note: not an NVidia Titan X, a GeForce Titan X)
GeForce GTX 980 Ti

I think they should start drug testing the person at their naming controls.

So in a marketing sense, I get they aim for the folks with $$$ and the early adopters for the latest and greatest.  You pay a heavy premium for top of the line for a 2 year period average.  Who the hell are they aiming for now since those folks they cater to already purchased one in 2016 leaving it less than a 2 year span?

I truly hope Vega comes out swinging in hopes Nvidia is forced to slash prices, including the Ti while also hoping the EVGA Hydro lines get released after Vega to see if there's any price reduction as well.

Precisely. It's to make more money because people are stupid enough to buy it. Can't fault Nvidia one bit.

how the hell can you call anyone stupid for spending the way they want to?  it's not your money moron, worry about what you can afford. i got plenty to spend and now the 2 980ti's  hybrid will go in the grave yard unless i find someone here in denver that can use them for a good cause in other words free.

I can afford pretty much anything on the market right now, but if you feel comfortable paying $500 more for a marginal upgrade at best over a 1080Ti (Yes, I know you have 980s) then by all means. It's just not very smart financially. You're pretty much just buying them to say " I HAVE A TITAN, and you don't." Now, if it was a 50-75% increase in performance over a 1080Ti, then maybe. You'd be much better off going with two 1080 Ti.

Edit: just to be clear, I'm poking fun at Nvidia's "logic" or marketing not anyone who wants to buy this. I'm sure it will be a killer card, but Nvidia's rollouts make me groan

Why would I be jealous of someone having something that I could buy myself?

Question is legit would 1 Titan XP be faster running 3 screens (who cares what screen) at 2560 x1440 or 2 1080ti's?

Currently have 2 1080ti FTW3 cards on pre-order...pretty sure they will be faster.  I am sure there will be reviews over the next couple days.  99.9% sure I am sticking with what I ordered but tossed a wrinkle into things!

literally just got my first 1080ti yesterday....getting my step up one tomorrow...my EK blocks in about 2 weeks...and i'm pretty content....1k+ for a gpu is beyond my budget...especially when I have multiple computers in the house doing more than just gaming...would benefit from a single gpu each and such.  And i'm partial to evga products =P, Nvidia can keep the monopoly on their titan x...and let the hardcore gamers with money and sponsored people enjoy them ^_^.

That and I only got the 1080ti b/c my 980ti HC had a newbie accident...so...they're running until the corrosion from water damage kicks in and they stop running at all...already glitchy, but still managable and they'll just fold from now on LOL.   Its just funny to see the Titan Xp come out...sort of predictable.

Interesting question.  Found this from Nvidia:  Not sure its answering your question any but it at least taught me a bit more about how sli works.

MULTI-MONITOR

How many monitors are supported when running in SLI mode?

With GeForce R180 drivers (or later), standard SLI configurations for 2-way, 3-Way, and quad SLI support a maximum of two monitors. Additional monitors (up to 6 monitors total enabled) may be enabled by using either a motherboard GPU and/or a PhysX capable graphics card (GeForce 8 series or higher with at least 256MB of memory) that does not have the same GPU as those that are SLI enabled.

Can I use SLI multi-monitor in all SLI configurations?

Yes. SLI Multi-monitor is supported in 2-way, 3-way, and Quad SLI configurations and is enabled automatically when SLI technology is enabled in the 'NVIDIA Control Panel' (right-click on your desktop to open).

What is the SLI focus display and what does it do?

The SLI focus display allows you to select which monitor will receive the maximum SLI 3D acceleration for full screen 3D applications. In SLI multi-monitor mode, all monitors have 3D acceleration but only one monitor has maximum SLI 3D acceleration.

Are the SLI visual indicators going to change with SLI multi-monitor enabled?

Yes, the SLI visual indicator will change, but only for the SLI focus display. There will be a small green square that appears to indicate the SLI focus display. It will not change on any other modes or monitors.

Does SLI multi-monitor now support Clone mode?

Yes, clone mode is supported, but the 3D performance on both monitors will be less than the SLI focus display's performance when in Dual View mode.

When you are running a full screen 3D application with the SLI focus display, what happens to the second monitor?

When running a full screen 3D application, the operating system and the application determine what happens to the second screen. The screen may go black or change resolutions to match the primary monitor. In addition, full screen applications prevent you from moving using your mouse and keyboard on the second monitor.

Can I render my 3D game full screen on more than one monitor?

Yes, a 3D game can be rendered full screen on more than one monitor if it is a multi-monitor aware game, such as Flight Simulator X. However, SLI multi-monitor will not let you render standard single monitor applications across multiple monitors.

Does SLI multi-monitor support GeForce 6 and 7 series?

No, currently SLI multi-monitor mode is only available for GeForce 8 series GPUs and above on Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems.
