ManuelGJust a quick update everyone. It looks as if the driver version that fixes this issue is going to be 260.35 which is based on a branch that is slightly newer than the upcoming beta driver that is slated for this Monday. The follow up driver will contain all of the fixes for Gothic 1 and Gothic 2. nawwwwwww

Is anyone else kind of nervous that this "fix" wont actually fix their problem? For example, I already feel left out in the cold because some users don't have (or don't see, lol) this stuttering problem, but I do. Some users were able to fix it by doing _____, but I wasn't (such as disabling one core). I'm worried that this official fix might not work for me as well, at which point nVidia will just move on and assume the problem has been addressed. Anyone feel like this? lol

Not that my rig falls into this discussion due to the lack of a quad, but I noticed playing bfbc2 the other night a pretty good micro stutter( i was sure due to my proc) I was running every thing maxed 1920x1200 bloom off all other options to the wood(dx11, prerender 1), I was seeing between 20's and up to maybe 35 or so fps, gpu usage in the 40-50% range, I alt-tabed out and started task manager to see the load on the cpu and monitor over the next few minutes while playing, tabbed back into the game and it was like a light switch had been flipped, the frame rate jumped up into the 50's and was keeping a pretty steady 60 avg. with the gpu usage between 70-80% but still noticed the micro stutter. so what happened? I have noticed this in metro also, one day I play and the game runs great and the next its a chop factory. I was reading earlier on in the thread the the game may have console port issues and prfering a tricore over a quad, I suppose this would cause an issue with a c2d in the same respect, I understand the game is cpu intensive but it just seems there is some bad coding involved or a bug in the engine that has yet to be resolved, but with the micro stutter remaining I wonder if this can be resolved at the driver level for me,

I don't know if people love to post their "works fine here" because they are in denial or just don't want to admit there is a problem with the Nvidia driver. You might just not be sensitive to it and aren't noticing it, like some folks have found. Whatever the case, its real, it exists, its been found, confirmed and fixed already. So to those without it, congratulations. To those with it - the fix is coming in a few more days. It was a driver issue after all.

I can attest to that :) I have no desire to try and develop drivers. I am perfectly happy developing my Business Enterprise Software Applications using the .Net framework. What I don't understand though is why it is taking Nvidia so long to get a fix for this issue. If we get a problem at work and it is marked as a high priority bug fix then we jump on it and fix it ASAP. Usually this does not take more than a day or so and we have a hot fix ready for the customer.

wow DNOTTIS doing a TERRIFIC job keeping everyone up to date on this issue. I was freaking out for the past 3 weeks with how bad my stutter was, Every time i google search though i found you leading the investigation!!!! i experience the stutter in crysis, BC2,and even MW2 (for the most part its 200fpssmooth, then sometimes its 50 with stutter) changing the affinity for BC2 helps so much i am seeing 120+frames and utilazation of atleast 40s! was pretty much locked on 37 before, with frames 70s-80s! Disabling one core smoothed out COD MW2 as well for me. As for Crysis I just couldn't duplicate it there. Disabling one core seemed to make the game more choppy so we might be looking at an entirely different issue there.

Thanks for the update Dnottis. I'm watching and waiting for it. I'm trying to figure out the DX/SLI issue I have had with BC2. Played Dirt2 in DX11 with no issues, so it's stange.

what about starcraft II? Anybody have a stutter with it? i have had other games to like: transformers war for cybertron, HAWX, The Sabotuer, Need For Speed prostreet, prototype, street fighter 4, and others. i wonder if this has been an issue all along and it is just coming to light now cause of the capabilities of these cards. Maybe it was harder to notice it with older cards due to lower frame rates and not having dx10 and dx11.

SC II is the main reason Nvidia will be releasing this newest beta driver. They decided to include a fix for the same problem and GPU usage in BFBC2 in this driver as well.

Here's the deal guys.... for the other games with stuttering... does disabling one core fix it? If not it's something else. If it does then it could be related to the same multi core code affecting BF BC2. So list the games that disabling one core fixes and I can pass it on to Nvidia. However, if disabling one core doesn't help then its another issue entirely and will need to be troubleshot on its own. This problem with BF BC2 has been isolated and it's pretty specific. I did find in COD MW2 that disabling one core made the game run smoother. However, in Crysis it didn't seem to help.
