I would like anyone and everyone with the BattleField Bad Company 2 stutter to try something: Remember to Make sure that precision is open to monitor your GPU usage 1. While in game press ESC then Alt+Tab or ALT+Enter to get to Desktop (usually i like ALT+Enter then move the window down it will make it less likely the program will crash) 2. Press Ctrl+Alt+ Del and open task manager 3. click on the process tab 3. Right click on the bfbc2 proccess 4. click on set priority 5. click on real time (it will automatically set it to high instead so don't worry) 6. once once it has confirmed it has change exit task manager 7. Click on BFBC2 in the task bar and if you pressed ALT+Enter press it again to make it full screen 8. Resume playing and check after a few minutes your gpu usage Please post your results. I use this trick to get extra FPS on a lot of other games also it is very useful. also check your usage in windowed mode as wel aas full screen see if it makes a difference in FPS and GPU usage GOOD LUCK and I hope that this helps alot of you out there

☄ Helpful
you can also do this with different affinity settings but i would try this first it DOES make a difference in FPS

Changing Affinity settings from the default (By default they are all ON/Selected) only affects Multi-threaded processes. What agames are you playing that are multi-threaded? Unless you are going to go through and Load Balance a CPU with by saying what can run on which core, you not allowing the OS to load-balance the CPU.

Setting priority to either Real Time or High didn't work for me, same GPU usage. It actually screwed up the sound in BFBC2 & caused 2-3 sec. freezes when loading maps. Game play also felt sluggish, I'll wait for the driver update.

DNOTTIS The fixed driver is coming - hopefully in the beta on monday.... The fix will be here soon :) but it will only fix the stutter in BFBC2. I have the stutter in alot of other games too. they should comb through the driver to see what is conlficting or not being executed correctly with the 400 series and these drivers. it is definitely a 400 series issue. i never'had this issue with my 8800gt.

I tried this but then I have horrible mouse input response then. Setting a game to higher than normal priority isn't a great idea as that process will then be able to steal CPU cycles away from other processes like audio and input. I haven't seen any sound problems though but there are definite problems with real-time mouse input when setting the game priority above normal.

i have had only one problem or issue with changing the priority of the game proccess. the only issue i have run into was it would not let me change it at all and this was due to sony's "wonderful" DRM called securom. Other then that I have done nothing but reap the benefits of this trick.

I had the stutter with my 480gtx and my QX9650 quad combo. I read the dnottis thread and I unchecked one of the cpu cores under processor affinity and the stutter was GONE and the fps jumped up!! Now I just built a i7 980X system using the same 480gtx, same OS, same hard drive, same power supply, Same nvidia driver.. And the issue DOES NOT HAPPEN PERIOD WITH A 980X. The in game frame rate is smoking fast. So its got to be a issue with quad core cpu's.
