Here's the deal guys.... for the other games with stuttering... does disabling one core fix it?  If not it's something else.  If it does then it could be related to the same multi core code affecting BF BC2.  So list the games that disabling one core fixes and I can pass it on to Nvidia.

However, if disabling one core doesn't help then its another issue entirely and will need to be troubleshot on its own.   This problem with BF BC2 has been isolated and it's pretty specific.  I did find in COD MW2 that disabling one core made the game run smoother.  However, in Crysis it didn't seem to help.

gtx 460 sli here, disabling cores does nothing for any games that stutter.

I played some BF2 today with my GTX 480s in SLI and didn't get any stutter. I thought I probably would as I have a Core i7 a X58 chipset and 480's and I'm the sort of person that would easily notice such a stutter but .. nothing.

I hope it stays that way for me and I hope you all get a fix. I commend DNOTTIS for his efforts he has done a lot for the community by taking the issue directly to NVIDIA and getting something done about it.

of course you won't notice any stutters. you are playing at above your monitors refresh rate with probably vsync locked.  there are no frame rate issues at such high frames rates.  find a way to play in the 30-55 fps range and you will notice the stutters.

I don't really know how I can get it to play in the 30-35 fps range. I have every setting maxed including AA and AF, HBAO and the resolution is 2560x1600. I'd need 2 more monitors to max the game any more..

The stutter we are talking about is only seen with a single GPU.  I had a few SLI users test this and they found it to be worse with one core disabled, SLI users were never able to dup the same issue we were seeing.  To replicate, its single GPUs only that are seeing this - and as for FPS my FPS were always 100+ but I had it really bad.  I can imagine at lower FPS it might even be more pronounced but it had nothing to do with the framerate.

We're almost there guys!  I can't wait to see these drivers get posted on Nvidia's website.

Best guess would be tomorrow or Friday.  They were due monday but a bug with the installer pushed them back a few days.  So I'd imagine by the end of the week they should be posted.  Manuel hasn't indicated any further delays since last ETA.

I'd like to see 3D Vision cross-hair fix get done.  Supposedly nVidia's aware of the issue and working with DICE on it:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision-3d-games.html

And at the bottom:
**The patch 553292 for Battlefield Bad Company 2 is causing the crosshairs in the game to no longer render in 3D. We are working with the developer to fix this issue in a patch that will restore the experience to 3D Vision-Ready for that game

I saw your video MW2 jgalmond.  I had that same stutter with MW2 multi-player only.  MW2 single and co-op were silky smooth.  At the time I using GTX 260's (core 216) in SLi.  It rendered the game unplayable for me.  From what I discovered on IW's forums, it was some sort of micro-lag associated with IWnet.  I never really got any sort hard conformation of that, but most agreed it seemed plausible.

Some also suggested that you change the polling with Precision.  For some it helped...me not so much.  MW2 is just a broken product.  Good single player experience for me.  But, hammered dog crap multi.

When in game, control/alt/del.  Goto task manager, processes tab, find the CODMW2.exe (or whatever it is), right click it and "set affinity".  Disable one of the cores and see if that fixes the stutter.

Report back and let us know.  I reported to Nvidia that it seemed to make it smoother for me, but some confirmation would be great.

it's also there with sli.  i have played with this same stutter garbage since beta.  i have played the game with 4 types of nvidia cards and 1 type of ati card.  8800M gtx in sli, 260M gtx, gtx 460 sli, and gtx 470 sli.  all of them had this stutter.  the only card that played the game at silky smooth framerate, even at 30 fps, was the hd 5870M mobile version in an asus g73 laptop.

it is unbelievable that nvidia has not sorted this out, let alone the fact they dinied it existed until we screamed at them.  don't they have their own development team play the actual games they design the drivers for?  because of this i have my strong doubts we would ever get a true fix and i would not get your hopes up too high.

DNOTTIS,

I tried the setting affinity trick and it didn't work out for me.  I did have my suspicions that it had something to do with my quad-core.  I might give it a try again soon and see if it doesn't help.   God knows what IW has been up to in the months since I last played that POS.

I tried several of the tips in the this thread, and the other locked one. Removed the 3D stuff, turned off A/V and even the disabling of one of the cores (from 8 to 7). Nothing made it better.

So, what you are seeing isn't going to be related to the BF BC2 fix where the multi core optimizations are causing the issue.  I didn't realize you were using SLI, maybe it's just your typical SLI microstutter.

Certainly appears SLI related, turning off SLI I have smooth gameplay in MW2.... as for "microstutter" nothing micro about it!

reinstall of the driver seems to have fixed it, if anyone is only playing their games now with set affinity and a core turned off watch out it like auto saves to your drive and funks it up. .  im just going to deal with the stutter/low gpu usage till the new driver i guess  . .  sighh . .

When you guys mention hitching/stuttering, do mean like this:

I don't have BF BC2, but I have this annoying hitch in MW2.

This is exactly it. It ain't a microstutter; more like a frame loss. I got this card running on 17s at last and the frickin problem is still there

Are we talking BF:BC2 or MW2 here?  I don't think the stutter between the two is the same.  I tend to lean towards the MW2 stutter either being quad-core related or IWnet related or both.  I cant speak towards the BF:BC2 micro stutter with 4 series cards because I haven't experienced it...yet.

The BC2 stutter is similar to the MW2 one. It only happens half the time though for me

I know it sucks to have to wait longer...I think they are trying to push a WHQL driver out though.

I wanted to give everyone an update. We are in the process of building the final driver and it will take about 10 days for testing to complete and pushed out to NVIDIA.com. I will still update everyone who has PM'd directly but I would expect the final driver to be available on NVIDIA.com in the next 10 days.

Is this related to BC2?  Because I'm not having issues with the current driver other than some 3D problems.
