Unfortunately it depends where the flash failed in the update process to see if it is recoverable or not. Really apologize for the issue, thankfully it should not happen anymore as the MCU updater is now bit by bit with a more strict error detection to catch any potential errors and recover before a flash failures.

So new 2080ti ftw3 cards that shipped today are not affected?

It was the software which caused the issue.  The software has been (hopefully!) fixed.  The fault never had anything to do with the video cards.  I don't know why so many new people are showing up and asking these questions.  Are you being directed here by someone and encouraged to ask these silly questions?  Have you read this content?  Is it not clearly explained?  Over and over again, these questions seem to be digging at an attempt to get some admission of hardware fault.  There is no hardware fault.

No need to be a prick about it. I just ordered mine last night and some of these posts have me on edge lol.

Sorry.  I hope you understand.  I didn't expect you to respond.  At least one of the previous people asking the same type of question appeared to have an agenda.  I assumed that you too were sent here by some redit thread.  I don't have time to research the backgrounds of every person who comes.  In this age of flash mobs and litigation, it's easy to misinterpret the reasoning behind a single sentence from an unknown person; especially when that single sentence appears to be ill-informed.

Hey Jacob, do you know if you guys have physical access to the card, can this issue be fixed? I sent in my card asking for a fix and return because it overclocks well(~2145mhz stable 2190mhz max). Really hope to get it back and purchase a hybrid kit for it. But the tech support said they aren't sure if it can be fixed as of yesterday.

Installed the new version of PX1. Waited for this new release as I just was using afterburner for the last week. My card is also a week old so never installed PX1 before after hearing of these issues.
I can report the firmware installed without issue. PX1 looking good too. All my sensors are working and I setup a custom fan curve. LED control is great. I'm reporting my findings if anyone was still on the fence of using PX1.
Had a quick half hour round of battlefield 5 multiplayer and my 2080 Ti FTW3 is running like a champ! Thank you Jacob and team for getting this update out!

Thanks to those that offered advice and the PMs, I can't respond because of the forum rules but again, thanks. I considered the advice, even with limited control my card is timespy/firestrike stable at 2150, but the new update didn't fix it. It sucks to receive a $1300 brick after stalking jacob's twitter and waiting like a kid on Christmas, but I'm glad that EVGA is all over it. The multistep RMA process is a bit wonky, but sending replacements before receiving the return goes a long way in keeping customers happy.

To the can you not read, less helpful, posters: EVGA upper level support was asking us to hold off pending the new update, which contradicted what was being said in this thread of red lights = RMA and regulator phone support, and Jacob's statement from the day before, which also changed once the 'fix' was coming sooner than expected - less than an hour after my post. Looks like fix wasn't a fix for the already bricked cards, but nobody knew that at the time.

Not much help for those whom have already experienced the issue ... but as EVGA_JacobF  noted in Posts 80 & 88 --- still worth trying before RMA your card

What are you planning to do with 2150mhz card? Give it up with rma or ask it to be fixed?

yup that was my experience, seems like the issue effects cards a few different ways so helpfully helps for some. hope they aren't too hard on the dev that broke 'em, was probably an expensive mistake.  Fortunately I think ftw3 buyers are probably more forgiving/understanding of this kind of thing than your average consumer

I initiated a RMA, not going to stress myself out about it until I see how the replacement runs

I just got my new card. Has anyone else installed the latest precision software without any problems? I just want to be 100 percent sure the issue is fixed before trying precision on the new card.

I had no issues with my new FTW3 and PK1 0.3.9 Beta - FW update ran successful.

I just got another 2080Ti FTW3 Ultra and the update failed right away failed right away and now stuck with 3 led lights and won't go away.

Which version of PX1 were you using?

Edit: I was able to flash my card and Precision X1 v3.1.0 updated the firmware. I disabled all my TSR's and after a fresh boot I ran the flash tool first thing and it ran and closed automatically. Then Precision X1 updated successfully. However, after a full shutdown. I did have to do this twice because for some reason Precision X1 glitched on load and spun up my middle fan to max again and only showed two fans. I went through the process again and so far its been good.

Old Post:
I have this same issue. I received my FTW3 on 12/07/2018 and the RMA replacement on 12/11/2018. Neither card would/will flash with Precision X1 v3.10 or flash with the firmware update.

I was same problem on 2nd card yesterday, then i remove 1st card and go to DDU. Install GPU driver and run .bat is successful

After this i reinstall 2 card on motherboard run X1, it will run firmware update again is successful

I have one more new 2080 Ti FTW3 and I didn't run Precision X1 yet because it ruined my first 2080 Ti FTW3.
What would you recommend now? Because I think it may fail again after running Precision X1.
But how to control lights, fans etc?

Evga has revamped how the firmware writes to the card with much improved error checking since version 3.9 of PX1. They stated it should not cause the updating firmware failure anymore.
I have flashed my card without issue using 3.9 and I’m now using 3.10 with no issues. I have the same card as you.
I run PX1 every time I game and is stable for me. Hope this helps you.

Guys I had this problem too on my RTX 2080 FTW3.  I believe along the way one of the versions of PX1 had lunched the Nvidia drivers.  I installed a newer driver pack and installed PX1 again and the update worked fine.  I would try uninstalling your Nvidia drivers, go and download the newest version and install them again fresh, and give PX1 another shot at the MCU update.
