Match the wire gauge of the UPS cord OR Bigger if you must use a short cord.  ( or move the desk ?)

With wire gauge Smaller Number = Bigger Wire

10 gauge is bigger wire than 12 ga - bigger than 14 ga .....

All right got the proper size extension cord ordered for my new APC unit.
Think I now have all relevant files I will need copied over to my external USB 3 drive.
Got my USB Flash Drive loaded with the Windows 10 install media.
I think I am finally ready to go. Z390 Dark should arrive tomorrow, but probably not till in the evening.

Started this process of deciding on and ordering parts around first of October.
The time is finally arriving.
Many, many thanks again to all that have offered assistance in this thread!

Special shoutout to bcavnaugh for his great detailed instructions on getting the new system up and running properly, I am sure that will be very handy. I have copied that text over to have as reference. Hopefully everything goes as smoothly as when I did this X79 Dark build.

Hey gang, quick question.
I have 6 ea 140mm Corsair fans I can put in the new EVGA DG87 case. Certainly do not have to use all 6 if not needed.  Also have the Corsair H150i Pro to put in it.
Any suggestions on placement of these in the case for optimum airflow would certainly be appreciated!

Just got the 2080 Ti FTW3 Ultra pulled from this machine and the 1080 Ti FTW3 put back in it. No other parts from this machine will go in the new one. Have spent the last three days backing up all files I think I will need to external USB3 hard drive. I think I have everything ready to go now.

Ok so making final preparations here.
Curious about something, on the Z390 Dark built in video - once I boot this thing for the first time, is it going to be using my 2080 Ti GPU as it will be installed, or will I need to go in and change something in the bios to get it to do so?
Just a little unclear on that, thanks for any tips on this.

Edit: Also I do not need to install the Intel Rapid Storage if not going to be setting up RAID right?

any video issues, which I don't think there will be, you can use onboard video to get into the OS and stall the drivers for your card.   This board also has a PCI shut off (manual on the board), so you don't have to yank your card if there is a hardware problem.  But I don't think there will be any issues.

Much thanks guys!
Slowly but surely making progess.
The Z390 Dark, two ea m.2 Nvme drives, 1 ea SATA SSD , and power supply are all in the case. Love the looks of this board!

Now about to mount the Corsair H150i Pro and 9900k cpu.
Once that is done, on to the GPU and any fans I may want to add to case.

can't wait to see how people do.   My board is sitting on my front porch.  I'll start the install once I get home.  I cleaned my case, blow out any dust.  fixed some broken LED lights,   moved all my cables that should be moved to new locations to accommodate the board changes.  I'm set to go and hope it's plug and play.   I'm nervous though.   Sometimes it's one little part I forgot about but I hope not.   yep.  just sitting on the porch out in the cold waiting for me to get home.  Poor thing.

Guys make use of the bench board PCB that came with it

Get the CPU mounted and the cooler on it then set it on the bench board. Get the memory and GPU slotted in and power hooked up. Get her booted up and into the bios to insure all works. You might even work with it there long enough to get the OS install and a bench mark ran to make sure all is good before it goes into the case

No, you don;t need it unless you run RAID. I uninstalled it after I moved my Ironwolf drives into a NAS box - no issues experienced.

Good deal, much thanks!

I am getting there slowly but surely, CPU is in and H150i Pro radiator is mounted. Taking a short break, then will go mount the H150i pump onto CPU and hopefully get this task finished up before too much longer. Really taking my time and being extremely cautious due to my eyesight issue. Not near as fast at this as I once was.

Augh I am so frustrated...
This EVGA Case has a Molex power connector in the case  that needs to be hooked up to get power
to all it's fans. I have been working the last half hour trying to get the dang thing hooked up to the Molex power cable for my EVGA Power Supply. No matter what I do, it will just not connect. Made sure orientation is correct, trying and trying and the 4 pins just will not go in the 4 holes.

I was doing so good now frustrated as all get out... stuck. For one lousy connector lol. Perhaps I should call it a day at this point.

Try using a different cable. Or pushin the wires in when you try to connect them.
If its a modular cable from the psu you could try taking it out sou you could geta better angle on it

Also look in the end of the cable from the case. make sure the pins are centered and not pushed off to the side. If it is pushed to the side try to straighten it. You might have to align the connector housing and as tatm said push on the wires, wiggle them to get them to center into the female end of the PSU cable

Well I'll be dang, after spending over a half hour trying to get that to seat, came here to post on it and ordered a pizza as well, so a short break.
Just went back out there and first time I tried, it seated !!
Go figure!! LOL.

I really do not like Molex connectors - but it's in and I can continue to proceed!
Thanks guys!

Might wanna try getting a pair of needle nose pliers and pulling on the pins to make sure they are seated properly. Another thing i have done is try to start from one end and go to the other when putting them together. Go in at an angle

Lmao figures... freakin gremlins again.
I agree on molex connectors tho. Youd think they would update the internal cables more often. Molex are the worst tho. Extremely bulky for 4 measly wires

Ok now I am stumped again.
My Corsair H150i Pro has a three pin fan tach connector, says to connect to cpu fan header on MB.
Those CPU fan headers on the Dark are 4 pin.
What to do?

A 3 pin fan plug should go in a 4pin just fine.

Theres sometimes a new usb connector. And then the small pwr button n hdd led cables. It shouldnt be that hard

The 4 pin headers have that plastic tab sticking up to index the 3 pin connector - 3 pin connector is power and ground with RPM (tach signal) the 4th wire is the PWM signal for devices that use that. Not saying you can't get it plugged in incorrectly - you would have to try hard to do it wrong.

Make sure you get that USB cable connected between the pump and motherboard as that is the link the software will use to communicate with it
