Scaling is poor here: vram perhaps? I wonder how a similar system with 4GB cards would do with this.

I haven't run into any bugs other than 64bit executable doesn't work with OSD, but that is not really an application bug.

IMO, this is the most impressive demo I have seen in several years. Sure, not everything is perfect, but what is most impressive is Dawn's skin and especially the lighting. Particularly when you place a colored light source behind Dawn's hair, the way the light reflects around her hair is really stunning IMO!

Agree 100% with you Jacob.  I just let this run for the last 20 min or so and it just blows me away on how impressive the lighting is on this demo.  It is for sure the most impressive thing demo I have seen in a very long time.  It is so clean and detailed as well.   I say it will be a good 4-6 years before we see a real game with the fidelity, lighting, textures of this demo in a real game enviroment.

Is there a difference between the 32bit and 64bit executable? Or what is the difference?

One of the first things that grabbed me was how good the leaves look on the trees (well that and turning off DOF!) It's gorgeous :)

I’m on board as well Jacob. The hair, skin, and light interactions are rendering joy: glad my purchases are fueling our voyage to the Holodeck. I have another favorite tech demo that really shows the advances that are being made, although I still think Kara wins on many levels. The hair and light play are nowhere near New Dawn’s but the skin is similar and Kara’s facial animations are superior. Perhaps I’m just overly swayed by the writing. Kara says more in a few minutes than most games or movies do in hours…

On second thought the skin is better in New Dawn. I still like the facial animations better though…PS3 or no…

Hey this is what I am getting in the demo. Is this pretty good for two 670 SC 4GBs? I think my cards are just awful on this.

I ran it on my single GTX 580 and it got enough FPS to be bearable, lower than I'd like for a game, but enough for a demo. I'll have to run it again and watch the FPS in the LCD keyboard display to get the exact FPS.

yeah, averaging in the Teens, not good by any means, but enough that it's bearable to watch.

So is my fps good in my screen shot. I tried to make it as stressful as possible in the scene by having as much detail, lighting, physics on the hair.

AH now it's working, yeah it looks good, as that's about the same that Jacob is getting with SLI 680s

Ok good. Well he should get higher fps than me anyways. As you can see I tried to make my scene in the picture as stressful as possible by trying to have as much background/effects in it. This is the lowest I can get my fps in this in this scene with the settings played with. The max I seen my fps go was 51. Also dont forget I have my card overclocked as well. There is no way in heck that a 670's stock boost clock will be 1283mhz.

This demo looks fantastic overall. I am seeing framerates in the range of 10-20 with an average of around 14 FPS throughout the benchmark at 2560x1600 with one 680. The memory usage is the highest I have seen to date at this resolution. Prior to this, 1750MB was my peak memory usage.

Yes, I checked the settings and Ultra mode is showing as On. I do have Aero disabled to minimize GPU memory usage by Windows. On occasion the memory usage will spike a bit higher to 1986-2022MB.

I was about to say dude. I was like there is no way you can have your memory usage that low with that type of resolution.
