Nate just wait until the Keplars come out. I will be looking at getting three or four made depending on what I can afford at that time.

Looking forwards to seeing that copper fly ! Quick question - What do you think to a lacquer coat on the non-board side ; Any benefit to cut down on corrosion ?

some companies do coat the water side of the copper with a sealant such as lacquer. I don't think it would be a safety issue as the lacquer melting point wouldn't soften the lacquer till it hit a minimum of around 172 degrees F. if your water loop is that hot there is a much bigger problem, lol. lacquer is most volatile when in the liquid or especially vapor forms, but once dry it is relatively stable. certain forms of lacquer are used to paint engine blocks as an example which get hotter than 170 degrees. the reason you might not want it would be because some might argue that the heat wont transfer as well through the thin layer of lacquer as opposed to direct copper contact. in my opinion, if this is only a thin layer then the temp deference would be negligible.

I don't ever coat the chip side of the block for that reason. Yea it looks tarnished when you flip it over, but its the bottom, who cares?

Blocks look sweet Nate; excellent work. Can you send me a pm on price for full copper and also copper/acetal? One thing about your design that could possibly be improves is that most previous blocks cover the additional vrm/chips next to the cpu sockets. I have probably the first custom blocks ever made for this board from another member on different forum. I never installed them due to being a slacker, but it was brought to my attention that there was the design flaw of not having something to cool those add chips/vrms. After that I started to think about new blocks and saw some with an extension plate to acommodate the add vrms, but its next to impossible to get mobo blocks for these now unless they are custom. I would probably only be interested if we can do something about the add vrms that need to be cooled; otherwise the blocks I currently have are somewhat similar to yours with the exception of having an acetal top (or maybe they are delrin). Thanks

I swore I posted pics somewhere of the mill? I am aligning the linear rails for the Y axis as the machine is cutting out the tops of this batch. Trust me, there will be pics. I tend to wait until the end and show them all at once.
