Yes had the latest version 1.1.4 installed prior. Took out my 3090 ftw3 ultra which worked with no issues.

I read this thread before installing precision. I also came from an ftw3. I uninstalled precision, deleted anything precision related I could find in the registry and in appdata, left bios switch to default, and installed the latest precision and everything worked.

Just FYI, I had a firmware update brick my 2080 Ti Kingpin. Fans didn't spin and lcd died. I contacted evga and they said to wait before rma because an update was coming the next day. Next day I downloaded the new version of px1, updated the firmware, and it fixed everything. Might be worth it to wait and see if a newer kp firmware update fixes any issues.

Yeah this is what we should have done. I dont think the devs will finish during the holidays which is understandable so we probably wont see an bios update soon. They release 1.1.3 and 1.1.4 pretty fast.

Yeah I tried the other bios versions to see if that would change anything. Pretty sure the card is just faulty to begin with. Curious if you have anything coming up in gpuz like I did.

Did you do your rma on Friday then did they ship it yesterday? Worried that the may not get it shipped before holidays :). I know I know I need to be patient.

My RMA was approved same day Friday. They shipped out UPS overnight when I asked them to upgrade because thats what I paid for originally on the 1st Kingpin. Arrived locally Saturday. Delivered Monday afternoon.

The cut off seems to be 2pm PST. Hopefully they didn't run out of cards. They usually have enough in reserve to cover Rmas

So is the consensus if you actually accept the firmware update on KP cards for versions 1.1.3+, your perma-brick your OLED and need to RMA?

Seriously, EVGA?

So glad I deleted the firmware folder first.

Nah not everyone had the problem but I think it stems to the fact we had another Evga card installed before the kingpin

Oh, well so did I (1080Ti and 3090 FTW Hybrid). I'm way too scared to install the firmware update. I'll wait until they sort it out.

Could we force a downgrade of firmware with Nvflash. Do you think that would work?

Nvflash would be for the gpu bios and nothing to do with the mcu firmware of the card.

Possibly but doubtful. I have had at least 5 other EVGA 3090's and my Kingpin didn't brick the OLED on firmware update.

ok good to know. I also was looking that other people had issues with other cards where they are just seeing the gpu temps after the firmware update not just kingpin cards.

Anyone else get their RMA card in and were able to successfully update their firmware. It looks like my card might not get shipped out until after the holidays. I just called CS and they said mine is currently not scheduled to ship out today but its early enough in the day that it could change.... Im hoping that a New PX1 will release soon to see if i can force it to fix it with a new release.

Did you use DDU or any other methods between moving in between cards that may have prevented this?

Why does EVGA do this year after year?  Every generation is plagued with cards being bricked by firmware updates.  Is it a problem with the MCU hardware design?  Is it a problem with EVGA's software and update process?  I don't know.  The simplest solution is to avoid updating the firmware.  EVGA, why do your cards have so many MCU firmware updates every generation and every new model?  It's crazy.

Why even use the MCU design?  Can't you retire it and just use the multi-fan asynchronous NVIDIA reference design?  No more MCU firmware problems.  No more issues with proprietary software.  Afterburner would actually work 100% for people including the asynchronous fans.  Everyone would be happy and much lower pointless RMA rate.

I will 100% not buy an EVGA card with ICX MCU garbage.

Because additional sensors on board.

Yes, I know.  But they are nothing but gadgets to look at which have no real purpose.  You can argue one way or another, but ultimately, in my opinion, they serve no purpose and the implementation of the MCU design has proven time and time and time again to cause failure.  Simplify.  Just make it work reliably.
Like, really, what does that temperature information affect?  It causes you to tweak things and find a way to cool them down by 5 additional degrees?  So?  In the grand scheme of things, it's just something for you to fiddle with but doesn't really affect the use of the product in any meaningful way.  I mean, a difference of 5 degrees from 80c to 75c for a component rated for 105c, is a slightly less than 5% difference in temperature.  Does that really have any meaningful benefit?  No.
There are millions of graphics cards without these sensors working happily every day and their owners are happily oblivious to the fact that they could cool some component 5c better.  Meanwhile, people who are playing with these cards with these gadgets are frustrated that they have to RMA their card when these useless gadgets break.

Simplify and adopt an implementation which already exists and works reliably, or fix your existing broken implementation.  This implementation has been broken for years.  When will the change happen?

I got my kingpin on Sunday and installed it (and precision x1) and did the firmware when it told me to, no issues.

i just tested this on my broken one. 1.1.5 doesnt even ask for a firmware update on one with the broken firmware. so those that were hoping it would fix your card that is currently having lcd issues, it may not work. it didnt work for me

Just installed 1.1.5. After it installed ran px1 and firmware update came up right away. Sphincter puckered up and I hit the button to start. Firmware updated with no issues thankfully. 2 times on the new card now its updated firmware with no issue.

yeah on the my new card its worked fine. i think with the firmware issues my clocks were reading wrong because with the new card i can get to 1350 me and 185core. but i cant get to 15000 pr.  but then again alot has changed since my other old card. so im hoping its something i need to reconfigure. I have a new mobo so things maybe diffenerent on the ram and cpu end. Im trying to console myself right now lol 14807 is the best ive done with the new card. but i also notices that mem and core clock is more stable it doesnt fluctuate as much as the old card. so if i mess with with it some more i think i can do better hopefully. either way i have to send the old card back.

Try slightly lower clock speeds especially on the ram. Sometimes you just need to find the sweet spot. I find at some speeds my gpu load drops from 100% during games. On other settings it will stay at 99 to 100% load.

yeah im trying to remember what i did on my old motherboard. the settings are not apples to apples right now. but thanks for the heads up. i need to tighten up my ram timings to how i had it before as well as mess witht eh fabric. we will see. 200 points off doesn seem too much off since i havent really tuned it completely yet besides seeing overclocks i get get with the card.
