No, hitting ctrl+l again afterwards will make the card idle on the desktop, but when you launch an application the curve should still take effect without having to use ctrl+l to lock the clocks.

It is working great now, I believe I was a bit confused first about the ctrl+l procedures in your guide.

Combining your guide with a more basic thread I found on overclock.net was perfect, now I finally get it, better late than never. ;-)

I don't know if anyone mention to save your max voltage settings. Now when you bench your machine just hit the saved voltage settings and adjust you clock and memory speeds for max runs.
Nice tutorial Sajin!

Sajin, have you got any ideas why my FTW3 is stuck at 1.062v and won't go to the full 1.093v? It's just been put under water and its max temp is 43c, while power consumption barely goes above 95% of the TDP (127% allocated).

I've tried using the curve method, but it still caps at 1.062v.

Perhaps there's a BIOS that I can get it up to the full 1.093v...?

Edit: figured it out, but it did not improve the OC ability at all. Stuck at 2112 or so... either way, I'm very glad with the temperature drops and extra 60 MHz I got out of the core as a result of the drop.

Updated op with additional info on how to get the core voltage slider working in afterburner if you're having trouble getting it work.

Could u help me maybe? I have the feeling my Card isnt working as indeed since my 1070 on my other Computer performs as good as this one.

Make a new thread in this forum section and post your full system specs and tell us what is reported for performance cap, use GPU-Z and look at the sensors tab as that will be the easiest way to look at speed, temps and perfcap reason

No problem. Sounds like your card is working fine since it is boosting above the advertised boost clock speed.

Is there any way to make the new afterburner control all fans on a 2080ti ftw 3? This guide helped me get away from the issues precision x1 was causing but I'm running 12c higher (76) in game
And no I don't want to have px1 running to control fans

No, but you can control the gpu fan with afterburner. The power and memory fans will kick on by themselves when the power and memory sections get hot enough.

Yea I tried turning up the curve but still get like 10-12c hotter, must be the vrms and memory. I'll have to look into modding the curves in bios

BUT I'm getting a stable oc without games crashing when every twenty minutes so this guide saved my life lol

Good guide Sajin, got my EVGA 2080 Ti HydroCopper running into power limits and locked in at 2115Mhz @ 1.093v at 38-40*C. That’s all my card can clock on that voltage... 😕 But all is good. Thank You sir.

Can run TimeSpy up to 2145mhz but that’s not game stable....

Can anyone point me toward what I should be setting my voltages to on a 2080ti ftw3?
I'm kinda confused by this. Trying to push higher voltages to get a higher oc, but basically it seems like it just let's me adjust at what frequency it hits what voltage.
So if I'm understanding correct, if I lower the frequency per per voltage it'll begin the higher voltage at a lower frequency?

Anyone looking to have voltage unlocked to access up to 1.2v specifically on a 1080ti should check on OCN thread "How To Flash A Different BIOS On Your 1080 Ti".  More specifically the XOC bios mentioned in the thread.  Not that you ever really need 1.2v for daily use but for benching and even to get a little more voltage above 1.093v.  The XOC bios is the only way Ive found to do this.  It does however disable all thermal protections so the card will not automatically shutdown since there will be no thermal limit anymore.  So, if you are in need of a tiny bit more voltage and are already at the limitations of your stock 1080ti bios then it is something to look into as a viable option.  Even flashing a bios from another 1080ti with higher power limits can help if you dont want to flash something that disables thermal limits.  If you do decide to flash a bios to your 1080ti please thoroughly read the thread and understand that its your decision to flash the bios and if you brick your card or destroy it then its your fault alone.  With that said, I ran the bios for the past 6 months without issue benching on HWBOT now I am taking a break from HWBOT and gaming so the FTW3 slave bios with the kingpin fix flashed to my SC2 works best as it does for many others.

Also, nice info for those that dont know how to get more out of their card Sajin.  Sorry about the thread highjack

Hi,
so recently I've decided to overclock my Rog Strix 1080 Ti OC a bit (been using it for more than a year with no OC at all).
But every time I push the core voltage slider over the 10% state, it doesn't pass the 3D Mark FSE. I guess i can get a bit more from my 1080ti oc with the right adjustments.
The temperatures are fine (<60c)

I've been struggling to overclock my GPU, but nothing over +60 (2012 mhz) on clock is 100% stable. I can push it further (2038 or at least 2025 mhz), and it would maintain like 3/4 of the Fire Strike Extreme loops, but it won't pass by any means. It can pass some other 3d mark tests, but not this particular FS Extreme.

I've tryed the OC scan and it just gives me strange results, all time different, but mostly with clocks lower than 2000.

It's been itching my brain for a while, and I can't stop trying.
I've noticed that GPU is mostly at 98-99% load during stress tests (and gaming), OCed or not. However, every time it reaches 100% load when OCed, the driver would crash within a couple of seconds.
Also, if i turn fans manually as high as 75%, i can reach ~2070mhz stable, but it blows too loud for daily use 🙂

Any ideas where should i dig to? So frustrated! It's my first pc in 10 years so i can miss a lot of things.

Download GPU-Z and have it open while testing on the sensors tab. Look at the perfcap reason. If you are seeing Pwr or Vrel that could be an indicator of the cause for your issue.

Are you using the latest MSIAB beta?

Now I have a question:

Anyone hear if MSIAB has been or will be updated for the new 2080Ti XOC BIOS? The freq/volt curve doesn't work once that BIOS has been loaded on a card from what I'm reading.

Just download MSI Afterburner directly from MSI
