Yes, but with your temps you should only lose 1 to 2 bins only. 1 bin = 15 mhz.

This is the problem with my card, the temperature throttle is extremely aggressive. Even at 45C I can start to drop clocks. What is the normal range for GPU boost temperature throttling? I had one card that would not start throttling until 64-70C yet my current card will throttle aggressively at 50C. Why is that? Is that silicone lottery or something else? Will experiment some more with fixed voltage. P.S. Are 3D Mark Timespy/Firestrike reliable tests for stable overclock's or do they tend to show instability too early? I generally pass Heaven with the same clocks that crash in 3D Mark. I know a lot of cards can struggle with those tests... P.S 2 With the fixed voltage and 2 bin drop should it be clocks only? I was dropping voltage too.

With locked voltage @ 1.093V GPU boost takes complete control over the card at 53C and throttles heavily down to 1.0V.

I dropped 15 mhz myself at 40c, but didn't lose any voltage. True thermal throttling doesn't occur until 89c. Dynamic adjustments isn't thermal throttling. Not sure why your current card dynamically adjusts so aggressively compared to your other card.
No, for true stability testing you'll need to test your overclocks in each application you plan to use.
I believe so, but i'll have to check it out again myself.

With fixed voltage Timespy had the card dropping into stock boost speeds (under 1V - 1965Mhz). I suppose it's possible the card went into a safe mode from a failed overclock. Will have to test again. I find it unusual the card is adjusting at such low temps. It's like the safety mechanism is far too aggressive. It will usually drop me down to 1.030V at 47-48C.

Made the card lose 2 bins by slowing the rad fans down, and still didn't drop any voltage...

What program did you stress the GPU with? Will test again later and post back.

I'm following this guide. I have a 2080TI FTW3 on a full custom loop. I set the fans in Afterburner to 100% like the guide said (even though there is no GPU fan). I've manually set my rad fans to 100% though. I've got the yellow dotted line to come up at 1093. But then I'm stumped for the next step (no vertical white line). What am I doing wrong? Pic attached.

My bad - I didn't unlock voltage monitoring. I'm using AIDA64 which also monitors voltage - do you think that Afterburner warning about multiple applications monitoring voltage being dangerous is worth heeding?

Don't see how it would be dangerous, so no.

This is a great thread. I will give this a try even though this seems a bit foreign to me. Really trying to max the power of my 2 1080 TI FTW3 for Cyberpunk2077 to get it to a place where I can get decent frames at close to ultra settings. Couldn't get a 3090 or 3080 so going to try and enhance what I have. Are there any threads for Overclocking RAM as well?

First off thanks for the guide! I'm trying not to be a dummy but how do you find the max allowable voltage for your card? I understand stability/performance takes some testing to find the sweet spot for an individual card, but where do I get a (safe) starting point? I mostly just want to see how far I can push this 3080 FTW3 Ultra, not likely to leave it OC but perhaps depending on the gains.

Whatever the card uses at stock settings would be the safe starting voltage. I believe 1.093 or 1.100 is the max voltage for a 3080/3090. How to find the max voltage of your card is detailed here... https://forums.evga.com/FindPost/2826074

1.093 on the 3080. This still works fine, especially since the boost lock button doesn't work on precision anymore as far as can tell

So I think I'm doing something wrong. My curve already looked like this when I hit ctrl+l. It jumped up to 1987MHz but I never saw the vertical white line. I think that's because the curve is correct. Did I just lose the lottery or is there something else I need to do? I noticed everyone else's screenshots don't have the 405MHz Memory clock.

Odd. Your memory clock should be running higher than that after applying the ctrl+l.
