basically you want to "displace" any air pockets with matter.  That matter can be vaseline, kneadable eraser, insulation etc.  I was at work and I forgot to post the pictures on my work computer!  I would defiantly get some plasti-dip and coat the motherboard around the socket.  defiantly on the resistors next to the socket.  Those things do NOT do well with moisture.

Put vaseline in the socket, then slap the cpu in?  put regular thermal paste on the cpu.  How bout the RAM..is it close enough it needs protection?

Will blowing a house fan on the whole thing reduce the chance of condensation, or is that not necessary?

Now the GPU's...seems I would need to do tops and bottoms of each 295, right?  kneadable eraser ok?

Great job Q! Keep it up!

Tomorrow is my last day of school before spring break. DICE here i come. I also plan to finish up my little project. What board and proc. should i use first under cold? I can't decide b/c i am worried about f'ing it up with condensation. My DFI LP UT P35-T2R, my Gigabyte EP45-UD3P, or my EVGA 750i FTW? Obviously, the EVGA has lifetime warranty, but it is also the weakest overclocker, and the vreg and nb get toasty when pushing volts; also it has the least indepth oc'ing options. The Giga is still under warranty (at least i think), and is good for quads; but i don't know how Giga's CS or RMA process is. The DFI is secnod hand, so no warranty; it's good for duals; also though it has the cleanest socket area (no caps around it). The procs are q9300, e7400, e1500, pd 915, p4 660. I haven't used the e1500 or p4 660, but i figure i could test 'em out on air and see what they can do before tossing them under the cold.

I was thinking maybe DFI + pd 915 (hit 4.7 fairly easily with it)...

I just want some opinions though.

Haha. I'm just messing with you. I want to get a P55 Classified and a i7 860 for some DICE fun but I'm doubtful on that. It would be hella fun though.

If you have time Nate, post some pics on how to insulate.  I may try what Rudster recommended first, since it's pretty easy.  Would there be a difference in insulating techniques once I build a chiller?

Step 1: Order a sheet of 12x12x 3/8 closed-cell EV Foam from McMaster Carr.
(3/8" puts you JUST over the height of the CPU socket-about the height of the chip itself.

Step 2: Cut out voids in the foam for the cpu socket, 4 caps & square thingy to the right of the socket, and the 6 caps between NB & CPU.

Should fit like this:

Step 3:  Take off the CPU socket hold down (T-15 torx bit) and then Plasti dip around the CPU socket (put your cpu cover over it.  go up to the sides of the socket sealing around the plastic sides of the socket itself.

Step 4: Fill in the gaps of the CPU socket with kneadable eraser.

Setp 5:  Add any additional kneadable eraser around the socket to "seal up" between the foam, and socket.  Test fit with your super secret waterblock and ensure good contact like so:

Then you have to insulate over the top of your waterblock, AND the tubing because that will freeze too.

What's the blue painter's tape on the ram slot?  temporary, or is that to protect the slot from condensation.

Look at the 2nd cpu test and compare it to a 920 run if you have one. Unless i am losing my mind the 920 scores twice as much.

was just a temp, but I left it there,  was more to protect it from the plasti-dip.  The GPU insulation for a dual 295 would require its own thread. I have TON's of pictures.  It involves MUCH plasti-dip

Yeah but I'm sure that's with Physx enabled. He ran it without. For example my results are like this:

Physx on, 920 @ 4.06Ghz - about 170-180 step/s
Physx off, 920 @ 4.06Ghz - about 24-26 step/s

@ Nate, Would those pics help me when prepping for a GPU DICE pot?

You are mistaken, this is with out physics enabled, no graphics card assistance.
If I am wrong show me a 920 that scores more than 34-37 fps on the physics (2nd) test with out physics meaning no graphics card assistance.

Anyone have problems with vantage running ppu enabled? Does warm up and stops, only with ppu enabled.
Reinstalled drivers and vantage still no go. Even with nothing overclocked.
So far 2  different video cards 9800 and GTS250.
Have not run with enabled in a long time.

I have not read the whole tread, but what are you guys doing/ trying to do.
I know its all about getting the best benchmarks with /and achieving the lowest temps.
but what methods,
just wanted to know, looks super cool , btw.

Any and all methods, building chillers, dice pots, slush buckets, using automobile radiators, air conditioners, outside in the cold, evaporators, phase change, etc.
Someone does it and can help you do it too.

Well I got my replacement 759 and confirmed the restarting was the board.
Replacement worked a couple hours, then bios checksum error.
Now an instant FF did all the tricks that are listed, even swapped bios chips.
This sucks.
