everything but the GPU made a good connection.  The ram was still crappy on this card.  I am up to some stuff this evening.  Maybe actually fire up my computer...

Get used to that.  it ALWAYS happens.  By the time you get the hang of things, you run out of dice.

Yea, Nate..has everything to do with it.  I must have taken my 295's apart 10 times each just to get the pads right so the GPU would make contact with the water block.  Had to be just right.  Hallowen had the same issue if I remember correctly.  Pads might be too thick.  I forget who gave me this link, but they said they were thin enough that the GPU made good contact.

i would get the gpu sitting evenly first... because it happen to me as well...once i fixed it..scores shot back up to 1250-1260 memory
single card though.
(provided they aren't messed up from over heating or hard core artifact-ing)

Finished all my insulation.Eraser and neoprene(and i will add paper towels when i am about to bench). I will put pics up later. Also, my little bench table seems like it will work really well. I have one dillemma though. The mounting screws for the cpu pot are about 1" too short, so i will have to make a trip to the hardware store to get some longer ones. Oh yeah; and DFI is retarded and put a mobo mounting hole under the heatpipe from the nb to sb and i can't get a screw in it. Fail. lol

Here it is all done:
EDIT: There is eraser under the neoprene on top of the board, and there is eraser on the back of the board too, just fyi.

Here is the whole album of photos: http://s929.photobucket.com/albums/ad132/xxrabid93/DICE%20benching%20prep/. I am debating on posting the whole thing, possibly as a guide.

you really don't need to worry about mobo mounting screws that much when you are horizontal like that.

AHH my old DFI ready to rip it up one more time.  Best of luck in your first dice runs Rabid!  Just remember, that board is particularly sensitive to gtl changes when you are going for fsb over 550.

@ Nate: It's not the mobo mounting screws that are too short. Those are fine. It is the mounting screws for the pot that are too short.

@Joey: Well with this chip (pd 915) i won't be coming anywhere near 550fsb. It is 200x14 stock. At 336fsb, it is already at 4700 which is around max for air without just dumping volts into it. I figure if i'm really lucky, i will get 400fsb, and 5600mhz overall.

So Menards didn't have any screws of the type i need long enough. They said to try ACE, so i guess that'll be my next stop...

ACE didn't have the correct screws either. At least they told me that they are M4 though. I guess tomorrow i will pick up some threaded rods from the McMaster Carr warehouse before getting the DICE.

@Jon: Nice. Is the cpu on phase or DICE? 4900mhz vantage is impressive.

Yea. The DICE place closes at 4pm CST, so its not happening today. It's lame that it closes so early. I figured out what i am gonna get from McMaster though. 1 M4 1m long threaded rod, and a pack of nylon insert M4 locknuts. I figure i can just cut the long rod into 4 separate pieces, and i know they will all be more than long enough. The locknuts will be used as the bottom end of the rods, under the backplate.

yep, i know just what you mean.
the cheap ice place closes at 2:pm here and the more expensive one closes at 7pm pst.

make sure you super glue the bottom lock nuts so it doesn't start turning later on.

@Jon: Yea, i probably could get DICE somewhere else, but i guarantee it is more espensive. At this place, it is $1/lb (tax included) for rice pellets, or around $.50/lb for the scrap stuff cut off of blocks. I figure if the scraps are too big, i can smash them with a hammer or something. So 25lbs (what i plan to get) would only be like $12-15.

Sounds like someone is addicted  ;)
I know the feeling.

4.9GHz vantage run is no joke.  Imagine if you had dual 295's?  You might have broke the 47K boundary.  I am STILL trying to break that 47K vantage... and when I do... I am throwing a party!
