Nitemare3219 People keep complaining about the backplate. I think it's a reasonable thought that the VRAM chips on the back (which are extremely hot under load) need airflow, and a backplate is just going to cover them up. Would thermal pads work? Don't know... I heard their last backplates were plastic which is an obvious no-go. EVGA's metal backplates are pretty thin, so I feel like the thermal capacity from that would be abysmal for 12 hot VRAM chips.
My understanding is they're running REALLY close on temp tolerances for the VRAM. No overclocking of the VRAM, etc. Seems to me the backplate was left off for practical considerations; they're trying to get the most airflow possible. And given that the backplate is largely an aesthetic consideration, it was left off. The practical trumps the aesthetic everytime. What good is a pretty backplate if the card overheats under load.

First thermal pads than backplate, thermal pads are useless without aluminum backplate. It's very important to something drop temperature of memory chips for few degrees.

AWK16Thanks for quick honest review, many people that have already got them wont point the negative so psychologically they don't want to have regret. So the performance is pretty much on par with 980 and DP is cut big time almost to the point of no really usable to professional and $1000
Well, just to be clear it is definitely faster than the 980, but its important to frame that in context it is only going to end up net 30-40% faster because the 980 overclocks so effortlessly, and while Titan X can also overclock quite a bit, it will end up throttling faster/sooner because it hits TDP/power limit sooner. The Titan X is also louder at both idle and load, so in the end it just not feel as refined and impressive as the 980 was for me given the performance level. 980 is like that Al sports car with a nice quiet turbo while the Titan X....like the guy who put the aftermarket muffler mod to make it louder or something lol. For me its no regrets, I was going to spend another $500-$550 (or $620 in the case of my 980SC) no matter what, as single 980 still wasn't enough for 2560x1440p on my ROG Swift. Titan X isn't fully there either but it is much closer (Far Cry 4 and AssCreed Unity played a lot better for example). I think I would've been happy either way with a 2nd 980 or this, but I think the Titan X VRAM will mean fewer concerns for new games that routinely saturate the 980's VRAM.

Got mine today and been playing around with it for a few hours. Overall awesome card, but it is not ALL improvement over 980. Came in a box that is about the size of a woman's shoebox. Much smaller in person than it looks in pictures with no frame of reference I guess.
So some negatives, there is no super awesome back cover like the GTX 980 reference. It looks like the holes are the same however, but I am not sure if a plate should be put on there due to VRAM modules on the back of the card. I think the last card to do this was the GTX 280. Overall, I think the original silver/black cooler looks sharper than the blacked out Titan X look, but the side profile of the card still has the silver flair around the GEFORCE GTX light up logo. Oh, and the Titan and fan area do not light up or glow as the glamour shots indicate. EVGA's 980 SC also had more nice bells and whistles, like connector plugs and an SLI bridge cover.
It is DEFINITELY louder than the 980, mainly at idle it is more inline with older Nvidia blower coolers in terms of sound. However, once it ramps up it is about the same so far. Overclocking may change this. There is a bit more of a howl to it vs. the 980 which was easily the quietest card at idle I've ever owned.
The card does not boost as high out of the box, well covered, but my 980 SC boosted from 1242 stock to 1404 out of the box with no OC and I ran it at 1454 and it rarely if ever throttled. This card using just power target of 110% (max) in Afterburner boosted up to 1202, not bad but was mostly in the 1177 range during gaming. I will try and push it later today.
Also as covered in many reviews, there does not seem to be much RAM overclocking headroom. I clocked RAM to +250 (3750 or 7500) and after a gaming session noticed it had slid back to 3500 even though AB showed the OC was still applied. Seems as if Titan X will clock the memory back down if it thinks it is unstable rather than just let your screen lock up or crash? So, effective bandwidth will be reduced from the expected 50% as well given my 980 and many others I read are able to achieve 8000MHz (+500) quite easily.
Comes with NO connectors, no accessories, just a pamphlet and a pretty nice Nvidia heavy duty special edition case badge. Special edition is blacked out, although I think the standard green one with Nvidia claw looks better.
I did play Assassin's Creed Unity with Ultra Details and 4xMSAA and it is still not what I consider playable lol, but I did manage to push VRAM up to 6GB at 2560x1440 on my ROG Swift. :)
In summary, I'm still really happy with the card, but it is not going to be as big of a boost to anyone who already had a GTX 980 or any of the previous Titan cards. Anyone coming from something smaller or older is going to be in for a pretty big leap however. If EVGA had a SC version of this I would've bought it on launch but I think anyone who is willing to wait should if they can. The SC model is going to be a steal for just $30 and will be the card to get for anyone who wants the reference cooler. It will also have all the connectors and such included.
I will probably end up selling my 980SC (or my wife's 970 and give her the 980), but I think anyone who picks up a 2nd 980 for SLI would be just as happy with that instead of this card. I think for 4K I would probably opt for this card mainly for VRAM, but for anyone looking at 120+Hz gaming at 2560x1440 or lower, I think 980SC would probably give better performance in most cases.
Hope this helps for anyone on the fence and is looking at this card.
Thanks for quick honest review, many people that have already got them wont point the negative so psychologically they don't want to have regret. So the performance is pretty much on par with 980 and DP is cut big time almost to the point of no really usable to professional and $1000
It's probably a little more realistic to get several points of view. Others that have the card, that I've talked to, state very different things. The benchmarks also back up many of those sentiments as well. Thus, I'm inclined to listen to a consensus, rather than just one viewpoint (leaving all due respect to the original poster on the table).

That's the regular edition, I do believe they had those for preorder momentarily yesterday so that makes sense why he shows the invoice and not the actual card. Whether he has it in hand or not is questionable, but doubtful imo, I think he just squeezed the shipping info out of an EVGA contact and knows they will ship next week. But yeah I agree, people will hedge/scalp where they can on Ebay where every day could mean hundreds of dollars. Best to just wait for EVGA to list them offiially if you want one.

Yep no doubt, I went in expecting that and also read the concerns about noise and temps, but the 30-40% improvement to me does not totally outweigh the negatives, so it is bittersweet that's all. I mean I guess if I was coming from another Titan or my old GTX 480s I would still be happy with the Titan X's sound and acoustics, just the 980 set a completely new bar imo for performance, noise, and heat for a top-end graphics card.

ManBearPig Numbers alone (except VRAM), SLI 970s are better. They have 256 more cuda cores and can clock at higher speeds (my 970 FTW+s are stable at 1550 while gaming on air and haven't even tried for a max OC yet). Really only at UHD I see the Titan X being better because of the extra VRAM (and having all at the same speed).
eh? overclocked titan is very close to 980 sli in many cases. Also SLI doesn't always work (sadly). It is a shame many reviews didn't use the correct tools to OC. (the 970 is super impressive because of the cost). maybe add another 970s for tri? unless you can find a home for them. I personally already ordered 4 titan x.. but i'm a crazy person. Oh yes.. i will be #1 again in hall of frame for a week or two in 3mark. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2015-nvidia-geforce-gtx-titan-x-review <-- one of the better reviews IMO and OC'd correctly. It is under 4k that the impact is more visible too.

May-01 to May-06 Est. Delivery Only a fool would believe these. Obviously they don't have something EVGA hasn't officially announced. If you think they have them, go buy one. $1300 isn't too bad to pay for something that isn't out. P.S. One reason to not believe them... If they have the samples, they are bound by EVGA's agreement for the part, which means they can't sell them for profit being a test sample, not a retail version. If you seriously think just because they have a high rating that they actually have these in Stock and EVGA hasn't released them, then you may be the most trusting fool of them all. Just like when the K|ngp|n cards were on eBay before they were released for pre-order, and the classifieds before they were available. Imagine, just for a second, that someone with a high rating can lie about availability... It's a hard concept to grasp, but they aren't bound by anything other than an estimated delivery date, then they have the money and can quickly refuse refund until they have money for the card someone else purchases as well as their own. People are foolish enough to fall for these in hopes of getting them before everyone else.

That's nice. My plans always something go wrong... Everything could be much better. I saved money for X99 only to choose hardware, than sell my GTX780Ti + money from Z77 platform and processor and 100-200e and Titan X is in my hands, but always one of part go wrong and never is my fault, never. That would be nice setup X99 + Titan X.

Just got mine from Nvidia an hour ago and I'm really impressed. Will dig in more tonight after work but this is what I've experienced so far. In Far Cry on ultra settings it's using about 4 gigs Vram and getting 50 plus FPS (on a GSync 4K monitor) In Assasins Creed on ultra at 4k it's giving about 40 FPS and sucks up almost 8 gigs of Vram! (wasn't expecting that) In Star Citizen (pre-alpha) I'm getting a very smooth 30 FPS while using up to 7 gigs of Vram. Gameplay on all games checked so far is silky smooth at ultra on 4K and a pleasure. So my initial thinking is that I will be adding a 2nd one in sli as soon as Evga has them (hopefully on a step-up if that's added by April 4th). I'm very pleased with this as I really want to be able to game at 4K at the full 60FPS G-Sync offers on all games. I also immediately did a light overclock (plus 70 on core clock and plus 80 on memory) with zero issues.

sounds like it's perfect for gsync since that seems to be around it's sweet spot of helping the smoothness. Congrats and thanks for the feedback!

tamvegas Just got mine from Nvidia an hour ago and I'm really impressed.
Very nice. I think the Vram alone makes it worthwhile for people who have higher resolutions. I want to upgrade to a 4K monitor soon and will be picking up the Titan X SC as soon as I can. I had a feeling i would have to pick up a second one to enjoy 4k and your information reinforced my thoughts. Thanks!

My plan is to get 2 of the vanilla Titan X's now and then eventually add a third in when games get demanding enough to need it. I can never go quad-SLI since a) scaling isn't there and b) I have a soundcard and quad SLI occupies all the mobo slots.

Not really pleased with the packaging on NVIDIA's part. Oh how sexy they are... Just grabbed the sliders in Precision and went. Ran Firestrike with +200 MHz on core and +500 MHz on memory with no issues in the benchmark. 110% power target, 87 temp target, 0 voltage increase. Previous Firestrike score with 780 Ti SLI overclocked: Overall: 18,711 Graphics: 25,830 TITAN X Stock: Overall: 20,950 Graphics: 32,164 TITAN X Overclock +200 core +500 memory: Overall: 22,327 (worse CPU score) Graphics: 36,669 I am going to draw back the OC. Not really necessary at all on my current 1440p monitor... waiting for a better 4K option. Plus the memory runs hotter than hell, and I'm waiting to see what's "safe."

Wonder if EVGA will include a fan option like Gigabyte did with the Titan Black where they didn't ship it with the fans on the card but put the fans in the box. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVdpy4uxMbA
