4GB of VRAM is still plenty, I see the 980 Ti getting 6 or 8GB and that'll probably be the card I'll get..if not I'll wait until next year. at 1440p with a single monitor my 980 FTW suites me just fine.

newparad1gm GitDat, what monitors are you using for 3D Surround? I'm at a quandary here now as I have 3 Acer GD235HZs in 3D Surround, but they are dual-link DVI only for 120Hz. With the original Titan I got 2 DL-DVI ports per card so I could hook all 3 monitors up to 2 cards in SLI. But now these reference Titan X's only come with 1 DL-DVI port so I would need 3 Titan X's to hook up all 3 monitors which a fairly ridiculous configuration for my setup. Or I would have to get 3 Active DP to DL-DVI converters as apparently they only support 3D Surround either all through the DVI ports or all through DP ports, you can't mix and match. I really wish they would come out with a Titan X with 2 DL-DVI ports, like the various custom GTX 980s like the EVGA Classified. I might just have to sit these Titan X's out and upgrade my monitors first.
BenQ XL2720Z's. It's all about dat STROBING! 120 fps MINIMUM w/ strobing = I am COMPLETE!! lol. Smoothest gaming possible. Which is why I need so much power :) I use DisplayPort and plug them all in to one card. HDMI for the 4k auxiliary monitor. Here's a link to my setup with the monitors https://youtu.be/_SdhzcmgC5E

Just to clarify (I'll be doing 3D Surround too) Displayport to your monitors will carry 3x1080p at 120hz? I have the 3 Benq xl2420t and they've got DP 1.2, and the Titan X has DP 1.2, so in theory it should work. Have you confirmed that on your monitors? That would really help me out in deciding to buy this thing.

3D Surround works great with the 980's so it will with the Titan X's as well. 2 highly recommended 3D titles: Nightmare House 2 and Brothers: A tale of two sons.

mistermister Just looking at numbers alone, this card seems to be more of a lateral move for me from my SLI 970s. Of course I speak in terms of gaming performance at under 4k resolutions.
Is this a fair assessment?
I believe it is a logical assumption. I wanted to SLi some 970s but the Titan X's non-existent green glow pulled me in... Frankly, I have had 2 and 3-way SLi for years; I love that nVidia is pushing it even more with Pascal using up to 8-way. The technology is only going to be more refined moving forward. Plus I recently became aware of the potential for microstuttering when using improperly balanced overclocked systems. My latest o/c has been the smoothest SLi experience I've ever had. I'm looking forward to the butteriness of a single GPU rig. ^.^

ManBearPig Numbers alone (except VRAM), SLI 970s are better. They have 256 more cuda cores and can clock at higher speeds (my 970 FTW+s are stable at 1550 while gaming on air and haven't even tried for a max OC yet). Really only at UHD I see the Titan X being better because of the extra VRAM (and having all at the same speed).
Basically what I figured. Thanks for helping me save ~ $500+

Got my pre-order in at Amazon, now the waiting game begins. Rather than go SLI I decided to dump $500-$600 into a custom loop + water blocks. Had 980 SLi and not being able to use DSR/MFAA w/my G-Sync display sucks.

The EVGA SC edition's clocks changed from TBD to: 1127MHz on core; and 1216MHz boost. Memory clock is unchanged from stock. The Hydro, on the other hand, has: 1152 clock; 1241 boost; memory unchanged. EDIT: Was beat to it :P

Just received both of them! Nvidia's packaging was fantastic, was doubled boxed and inside was like a foam basket with precut holders to hold the cards. Can't do anything with them yet, as UPS comes at like 7-8 at night :(. Still waiting on my last components (i7-5930k, 32gb ddr4 2133, Evga x99 classified mb) So it'll still be 3-4 hours before I even get to start putting the rig together. Gonna pick up 3 XB270HU's when they come out for surround. (Currently using catleaps)

I've found on at least 3 occasions that when a new card is in high demand from EVGA, you have to be quick on the draw. Once, I didn't see the email notification until an hour later and EVGA already sold out. Another time, I read the notification and ordered within 10 minutes. 15 minutes later, people were posting on the board that they were already sold out.

So it's not so much a notification system as it is a opportunity to reminisce about the chance you missed. "Remember when we had these in stock? Good times..."

If you are talking about eVGA's auto-notify system, that is how I have both of my 970s. I was lucky to be able to get a 970 FTW during their first batch because of the auto-notify. And then a month later when I wanted another, the auto-notify system worked again. Both times the 970 FTWs sold out super quickly (first batch sold out in minutes), and I was able to get them only because of the auto-notify. But you have to be available the instant you get the email otherwise the other thousands of people who got it as well will beat you to the store page.

Yes. Their Notify me option is SOOOOOOOOO BAD!!!.. It always notifies you when they are out of stock. You have to lurk on the forums and read threads and keep refreshing the product page to get what you need. Also!!! Anyone remember back when the 480's were coming out? I used a program called EVGA Stock. anyone know if there is a current version of this that actually works? that helped me get my 480 way back then. http://www.overclock.net/...572/evga-stock-checker

It's always worked for me. Just remember, THOUSANDS of people sign up for it and are waiting for the same product. It's basically who can get to the store page first. Every time I've signed up for the auto-notify, I've received emails the instant the products go up for sale.

Meric1837 Anyone have any experience with the auto-notify system? I've been burned before. You'll get the email like "they're in stock!...yesterday."
lol. you're actually right. Used it before. Got a notification many hours after the product was in stock.
I went through the same crap when ordering my GTX 680s years ago. NEVER AGAIN.
Yes. Their Notify me option is SOOOOOOOOO BAD!!!..
It's always worked for me. Just remember, THOUSANDS of people sign up for it and are waiting for the same product. It's basically who can get to the store page first. Every time I've signed up for the auto-notify, I've received emails the instant the products go up for sale.
No.. it has never worked for me.. I know thousands of people sign up for it.. I am talking about facts that i have based on my experience. On two occasions I noticed the cards were back in stock and ordered them only to receive my " THE PRODUCT IS IN STOCK " email like 30 minutes later one time and like over an hour later the other time.. Many people have had the same experience. It has nothing to do with how many people sign up and who ordered first. Their notification system sucks.

I have a love/hate relationship during these times. My obsessive compulsion keeps me glued to the monitor.

mistermister Just looking at numbers alone, this card seems to be more of a lateral move for me from my SLI 970s. Of course I speak in terms of gaming performance at under 4k resolutions.
Is this a fair assessment?
It really depends on the games you play and the driver support you have for SLI per game. Some games suffer more than others with SLI issues, some games don't even support SLI or take months before they even see support through patches or drivers. raf.the.stampede
RainStryke I noticed that they mentioned the memory buffer. Looks like the memory will be structured the same as the GTX 900 series cards with 25% of the memory cache being split up from the rest.
Where does the Anandtech article cover the memory buffer? I haven't been able to find it.
It's on page 2 at the bottom.

I Echo your response. I too have sat there mashing my F5 key in the past to get one of the GTX 480's i wanted. Its a shame that the system works the way it does. I am sure they do it that way to avoid issues on their site like slow loads, Crashing and people being upset in general. If people received the notifications the second it was ready like we have had in the past... The site would crawl and you would have issues ordering. I have experienced that in the past so I am sure they stagger the emails to avoid issues.
