Is this a BIOS update, or just an overclock?

How about a Boost for the SC crowds. Now that the FTW will be out a 800Core clock for the 1GB and 768MB SC versions would be really nice.

Not complaining... just suggesting :)

How about go into precision or afterburner and DO IT YOURSELF. They wont give the all the SC cards a boost because the superclocked cards are only rated up to 763mhz. Some SC cards might not go much higher. They gave the boost to the vanilla ones because they were actually a bit underclocked. A boost for my card wouldn't do crap. It's already at 850mhz.

How about I already have done it myslef. It's just that I would find it nice of EVGA to do. I wasn't complaining. So stop being so defensive of evga. But you can't tell me it wouldn't be nicer to have your stock clocks @ 800 Mhz EVGA Designed BIOS and have it covered by them then to do it yourself.

SO STOP BEING SO DEFENSIVE...I DIDN'T MEAN TO TAKE IT OUT ON EVGA NOR DID I REALIZE IT WOULD MAKE SOMEONE SO ANGRY ABOUT IT LIKE I WAS CALLING THEIR MOTHER NAMES LOL.

Hey all.. i`ve got some questions... i`m a little nervous which is why i`m asking.. first time i ever put in a gpu so i`m making sure everything is perfect... i even made my own antistatic wrist band from some wires and a plug....

Let me start off saying that i have a GTX 460 1G SC EE (01G-P3-1373-ER) and i`m using Win 7 64bit

I`m a little confused at what i have to do since i have to install the new gpu as well...
so....

i`m going to uninstall my current drivers, switch off my PC, remove my current 7900GTX and put in my new one, load up the PC and... this is where i`m stuck,
should i install the new drivers ( 260.63 ) uninstall them, run this FPB then reinstall them?
or just run this FPB then install the new drivers?....

I`m dying to install it lol

Would like to know this as well since only one of my 1370s shipped with the updated BIOS (.76).  This was over two weeks ago too, so is there an issue with simply posting the .76 update, or was something else changed on the cards?

Yeah this doesn't work for me... I type y and it eventual beeps and says no matches found...

(It says more than that but those are the last words and it disappears to quickly for me to catch anything else before that...)

I have a GTX 460 SC edition EVGA obviously am clicking the correct link etc I have vista x64 and I tried it with the beta 260 drivers an with the reg 258 drivers both times same conclusion.......

I finally figured out how to register. Far easier than it used to be.

There's a good chance that the BIOS has already been updated, if you recently bought the video card.

You should use GPU-Z to grab the BIOS information to your video card.

A way to check is open Precision and look see if either your fanspeed can be set to 30% or you clock speed is defaulting to 720/1440.

i asked and they said they're still working on them...  i dont understand what they're working on though.   maybe they're testing for even lower fan speeds who knows, but hopefully they're not trying to add an OC to the card. i just want quiet not additional heat.
in your case couldnt you just backup the bios from your .76 card and flash the other one with it? (providing it's the same card).

Probably, but with reports of people bricking their 460s I didn't want to risk it on something that eVGA said they were looking into releasing an official updater for.  If they remain silent about it, that's probably what I'll end up doing, and if so I'll post the BIOS here if it's successful.

Well, went ahead and did it anyway since the eVGA update is just a scripted nvflash, worked like a charm.  I'll post the extracted .76 BIOS, but I take no responsibility if anyone uses it and doesn't know how to properly use nvflash.  If this is frowned upon, I apologize and please modify the post if necessary.

This is ONLY for the 1GB Reference Cooler 460, part number 01G-P3-1370-TR.  I wanted the file name to specify what this is, so you will have to rename the BIOS file to something simple like BIOS76.rom for nvflash to read it.

is there also a possibility to reduce the fan speed of ne usual GTX460 1 GB SC. This FPB just includes the EE, right?

Thank you! That was exactly what I needed, I'm now running happily and practically silently with 30% minimum speed on my custom auto fan & overclock profile.  It works perfectly on my 01G-P3-1372-TR, since the only difference between that and the 1370 is the factory OC, which doesn't matter at all since I'm setting my own OC values anyway.

Mine has the same bios as yours but I can change the fan speed from 30% to 100%

BIOS 70.04.13.00.74

Memory 1900

GPU-Z reports the same Bios as Precision
but when I click the button beside the Bios Version and Save to file it says BIOS reading not supported on this device

ok I updated GPU-Z and get the BIOS from it

@djcake123: Do you use the newest GPU-Z, the 0.4.6? With the older one you can't read the bios, but with the newest you can.

Something i would like to know: if Evga would bring a second update for the normal 460 to reduce the fannoise, will there be no problem to update the card a second time?

Glad to help, and good to know that it works just fine with the 1372s too.  I assume that it did overwrite the clock profile back down to 720, but as you noted that's a non-issue with manual OCing.  I'm running 875 on both cards myself, these are really nice and quiet compared to the EE's I traded in.

Since it works with both the 1370 and 1372 versions, I have no idea why eVGA is holding off on posting it officially.  I'm sure they have their reasons, or maybe they just haven't gotten around to it and are shipping all new cards with .76.
