lantern48 Seasonic Prime 1000w Platinum and no crashing/restarts/blue screen issues at all. The fans get really loud sometimes for no reason that I can tell, but that's about the only issue. Oh, and a bit of coil whine.
My Prime Ultra Ti 750W fan was getting loud with the 2080Ti FTW3 Ultra so I replaced it with the HXI 850W.
My fault for not being clear. I meant the fans on the FTW3 Ultra get really loud sometimes and I'm not sure why. Satcher
On what titles? RDR2 and Minecraft RTX?
Don't have either of those to test. Sorry.

It gets obscenely loud even when I'm in BIOS or first start the system. And if I don't have Afterburner's custom fan profile open in Windows the temp will hit 60 degrees with no fans going at all. It feels like something isn't right. Just overall the fans sound like jet turbines compared to the quiet 2080 Ti FTW3 Ultra fans.

That's normal behavior for the 0 dB function that was introduced several generations ago. If you don't like that, switch to the OC VBIOS (and reboot) and the fans will not stop.

It's been on OC BIOS. That does not make the fans behave any different under 60 degrees.

Is the OC BIOS to the right or left on the 3090? My 3080 switch came already on the right which is supposed to be the OC BIOS. I guess I could try switching to see if it's backwards.

Bcassiman I just RMA’d my card. Two PSUs over 750w when calculator says 550w and still restarting. My enthusiasm for these cards slammed into a wall.
I know my system pulls a lot more than that... With the 3080 FTW3 Ultra. (And 2080Ti FTW3 Ultra) Plug yours into the Seasonic calculator, it's at least pretty accurate. My actual max power draw is 700W from the PSU to the system, that's not from the wall. Not including power spikes. Gaming loads are between 550W and 600W depending on the game, not including power spikes. GPU not overclocked.
Yeah that’s why I went up to the EVGA 850 p2 and it still restarted. I’m using a stock 10400 which is locked so my CPU draw is minimal compared to an OC cpu. The EVGA techs seem to be just as confused when I spoke with them. They stated that my Thermaltake 750 should have been plenty. So if these cards are clashing with PSUs they aren’t very hip to it yet.

Make sure that it's actually fully selected to the OC. It may have been bumped. Flip it back to normal then back to OC and reboot. If it still doesn't set fans to always on, register your card if you already haven't and contact EVGA to get them to send a VBIOS for you. Or you could always RMA, but a VBIOS flash is really quite simple when EVGA sends you one.

Anyhow.... Was in contact with someone I know at Corsair for those who have Corsair PSUs... He says they tested the RMX, RM, RMI, AX, AXI, HXI, HX and they all do indeed work with the 3000 series cards. So, he said it must be something else going on or a bad card.

Alright so I found a solution that seems to prevent my card from powering off the computer (750W Seasonic PSU, Ryzen 2700x, Aorus X570) Dual PSU diagnostic setup: hooked a Corsair CX600M PSU up to my mobo/CPU with my Seasonic 750W PSU powering the 3080 FTW3, drives, pump, fans. So far it lasted a half hour in RDR2 whereas when everything was on the 750W PSU it couldn't make it 5 minutes. I will now begin a Firestrike Extreme loop to see if it holds. This dual PSU situation is confusing my fans and Corsair Commander Pro. So it appears to me the Seasonic calculator that tells me I only need 674 watts for this setup is not presently accurate for whatever reason. I'll be ordering a new PSU...

T hose who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way. Affiliate Code: 3T15O1S07G

Possibly, or it may be a driver issue or a PSU issue or a faulty card issue or a combination of any of these or other factors. We do not know yet. atfrico Another lie found by consumers🤔 Thank you Nvidia 🙄
You're claiming NVidia did this on purpose? - another lie put forward by resident AMD fan and Intel/NVidia basher Atfrico. What a surprise. One could then say the same about almost every failed driver update AMD issues.. lol.

So replaced my Seasonic Focus plus 750W with a Corsair RMX 850W. My computer and card are now running smoothly and even put it through OCCT power tests for sanity. So yes can confirm personally what Jankerson said and some PSU lines don't seem to be able to handle this card. Best of luck to everyone else with this problem.

It just seems to be certain models. Like my Prime Ultra Ti 750W (750TR) can handle it ( I tested it yesterday) while others had the Prime Non Ultra 750W Prime Ti (750TD) and they shut down. So it has really been interesting to say the least.

Forgive me I just joined this chat - are non of ya'll undervolting / downclocking your cards? stay with me here (I could be way out of line for saying this but whatever). lets say these FTW cards have great heatsinks (the best heatsinks folks) so the card keeps trying to boost higher and higher. problem is the card boosts into the higher clock speeds (Danger Zone!) that was crashing many other 3080 cards prior to the new drivers. so have any of you tried undervolting your FTW cards and turning the speed down to 1850 or so in afterburner? unless im wrong I think these ampere processors dont like being anywhere over 2000 on a regular basis. the undervolting would solve ya'lls problem with the PSU inadequacy concerns at the same time. sorry if this has been covered Ive been skimming since page 5.

I've built several rigs at my local pc shop with the 3080 and a 750 watt psu. (New psu's of course) you can definitely run a 3080 on a 750 that has strong 12v rails with no issues ... but if your psu is aging ...the power draw on the 3080 can be too much for old caps to handle...

MOST of the ones have PSUs that have a history of issues with transient power problems. Corsair actually tested all of their line, Gold and above and all of them work fine except for the SF750....

Yes they will, absolutely will run on a 750W quality PSU. As long as the model doesn't have issues with Transient Power spikes, and that is only certain models.
