Scorched Earth was refering to the fact that several people got their posts deleted, got warnings & I think at least one person got a ban for cursing at a Moderator further after being warned not to curse on the forums to begin with, by the by. 5 hours of constantly interrupted "sleep" after a 36 hour day doesn't really qualify as sleep, does it? It's better than the alternative. Usually takes a few days to really erase that sleep deficit though.

jehoffman1 Well, another day, a lot more disappointment, but a bright spot. I was ready at 9 am. BestBuy sold out quicker than I could click on the yellow buttons. I couldn't get on EVGA's site until 9:30 because it kept crashing on me. I signed up for the two 3060's but God knows when I'll get one of those. It did not look like Newegg or B&H had any available for sale on their sites. There were 6 3060s and a very expensive 3070 on the Newegg shuffle. I put in requests for all of them and for a 5900X CPU. I didn't get any of the GPUs, but I DID get the 5900X. I got a 5800X a couple of weeks ago but really wanted the 5900X, so I'll return the unopened 5800X to Newegg as soon as I get a tracking number on the 5900X (which is estimated to come in a week). Interestingly, the 5800X is returnable, but the 5900X is returnable only if defective--which is fine since the 5900X is NOT going to leave my hot little hands. So be prepared that things you buy on the Shuffle may not be returnable.

nick_shl Made an order. Decided to add singnature. At final page decided to remove signature and removed tick mark. Placed order. By some reason signature is there and they charged for it 4 bucks.
My recollection from prior discourse in this thread is that EVGA has a policy of requiring signature for purchases over $XXX shipped via UPS, so I don't think you would have avoided it either way.
Also if you happen to pay with PayPal, they always require a signature.
My ups and or fedex do not allow signatures due to covid.

O_o so they allow package stealing, sick. That's worrisome, they should at least allow you the option of signing for it if you're home, takes 5 seconds to put on a mask, scribble on the thing then close the door. Heaven forbid they have to clean things right? Not a knock on the UPS drivers themselves, they're dealing with heavy load because so many are working from home & what not, but UPS & FedEx could do much better to ensure everyone's safety with the current global bassard collector going on. Could be as simple as sending you an email when your package is coming that day saying "would you like to pick this up at your local store to sign for it, have it dropped at your address without a signature, or sign for it in person with your driver" to give you options. If it's more than one thing I almost always go to where our local UPS guys load their packages in the morning (around 10AM cuz we're pretty far from the main UPS hub in the state) & pick up my packages directly. Saves them a 2+ mile out of their way trip to come out to our house, and let's me get stuff earlier in the day (usually they won't get out here until sometime between 5PM & 9PM, and it's typically more of 7-9 at night). I realize not everyone can do that, depending on the size of the city you live in such a spot may or may not even exist that you're allowed in to.

You're welcome to wait for a month if you wish, but you could also buy one right now straight from AMD.com. 5800X in stock as of right now: https://www.amd.com/en/direct-buy/us
It is the timing of the credit card bills that is making me wait, but thanks for the info. I'll save that link for when I am ready.

Congratulations to your future boss! Thanks for reporting back. All reports are helpful, not just the latest ones in the timeline. It helps us (anecdotally) gauge volume of registrations and of the drop and gives us an opportunity to celebrate your success/reaffirm our faith in the queues. Thanks again!

I'm sure this was brought up and I likely missed it. But why are they introducing the 3060's when they can't even fulfill so many back orders? Mine hasn't moved a second in over 5 months, going on 6. So watching people getting other cards that were brought out after is even more frustrating than people who signed up after december getting them.

It's going to be an extremely depressing month or more. I am predicting NOTHING available in what I am looking for till April-May time frame. I have no hope what-so-ever in seeing a 3080 till 2022. I am so freaking frustrated and depressed.

That is a question for NVIDIA. EVGA, as NVIDIA's partner, has a contractual obligation to carry the line.

I wanted a 5900X and was lucky enough to get one. However, I would have built with the 5800X had I not gotten the 5900X from the Newegg Shuffle. Frankly, I'm not sure it makes much difference which of the 5000 series CPUs I might have gotten. They all run at about the same speed, the difference being the number of cores. Thus, I doubt I get any improvement in speed unless I run enough programs at the same time, each of which takes up a reasonable amount of the capacity of the core in which it is running. I often run a browser, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Acrobat, Word Excel, and Quicken at the same time, but most are running idle much of the time. Furthermore, most programs cannot split between multiple cores. I think Photoshop is the only one of the programs I use frequently that can do so. I doubt I'll ever fully use 8 cores at the same time, thus making the extra 4 in the 5900X superfluous. I preferred the 5900X anyway because I prefer to overbuild than to underbuild. I only build a new computer every 5 years or so. By overbuilding, I never have to do upgrades larger than adding memory or storage between computers. In fact, my 5 year old computer will probably be adequate to my needs for another couple of years. I'm building the new one now, because I'm home bored, decided I wanted a new faster one, and worry that I may not have the dexterity to build a new one after much more time goes by. Building one's own computer is more time-consuming than buying a ready made and requires doing one's own trouble-shooting if something goes wrong (rather than just calling, e.g., Dell's support). However, I've found the computers I've built myself have been trouble-free, whereas the ones I bought from Dell, Gateway, Micron, etc., tended to have parts wear out after 3 to 4 years. I Congrats on the 5900x. That is also what I am looking for from New Egg too. I got a 5800x on it's way from Amazon, but I'm not sure which one I want to run. I'd rather have the 5900x, but at this rate I might as well just stand pat with the 5800x. Atleast I got the 5800x with free shipping. I already have a 5600x that I plan on selling once I get the new CPU in.

This has to do with how the Dies are made. The Die being used on the RTX 3060 is different from previous SKUs, being a GA106. The 3060 Ti & 3070 share the GA104 Die (meaning the wafer sheet that the dies come off of is split, ones that are higher quality go to 3070s, ones that are lower quality & can't run the higher clocks etc, go to the 3060 Ti). The 3080 & 3090 share the GA102 Die, higher performing ones go to 3090s, the regular ones go to 3080s. So it's a completely different process basically, compared to previous releases. Apparently a GA103 Die has been spotted in the wild, assumed to be the RTX 3070 Ti - and a GA102 with 12GB of VRAM has also been spotted, which could be the RTX 3080 Ti with a 384-Bit Bus & half the VRAM of the 3090 - so it would likely perform almost as well, at a much less insane price. So I'm guessing to lower production costs, NVidia is changing the RTX 3080 Ti plans from a 320-Bit Bus (like the 3080) with 20GB of GDDR6X to a 384-Bit Bus (like the 3090) with 12GB of GDDR6X. This would make it cheaper to produce (less RAM chiplets), meaning if they price it in the $1000-$1200 range, the profit margin would be "better" than what was originally planned for. We'll see. Some news sites are reporting rumors it could be released in April - but, as with the people that hilariously believed it would be released in January originally (why would NVidia ever launch a SKU that would make another SKU obsolete 3 months after it's launch), I'll believe that when I see it. I'm still expecting it to be June, at the earliest, for the 3080 Ti, with the 3070 Ti released after that. Thus endeth your tech news summary when it comes to video cards, hope someone learned something, now my head hurts. lol

An honest opinion of this build from anyone on this forum would be much appreciated. pcpartpicker.com/list/PQJMgt Only missing GPU obviously currently @ 24G-P5-3987-KR 10/16/2020 4:51:07 PM PT. Was lucky enough to get the 5900x today. Most of this stuff is still available for a return. Please let me know if anyone sees anything they would personally change and why (besides subbing the fans for Noctuas... I know, I know ). Thank You, this community is seriously awesome!

The new 3060 card is a head scratcher for me. Why waste 12 gigs of precious RAM on a slow (by this generation standards) card? As for the 3080ti delay and probable reduction of RAM, word is that people who do rendering for a living were very interested in a 20 gig version and that this card might be headed for render farms. Which I guess is still better than mining farms....

So be prepared that things you buy on the Shuffle may not be returnable.
Take it from someone who upgraded to a 5950x from a 5800x, the 5800x will be much more than you need and is well positioned to be to be top tier for awhile. Who knows you might get lucky and get one with a deactivated ccd. I hear there are folks out there working on unlocking them just like they did back in the day. Can you say free 5900x?

soulpatch321 I'm sure this was brought up and I likely missed it. But why are they introducing the 3060's when they can't even fulfill so many back orders? Mine hasn't moved a second in over 5 months, going on 6. So watching people getting other cards that were brought out after is even more frustrating than people who signed up after december getting them.
Thus endeth your tech news summary when it comes to video cards, hope someone learned something, now my head hurts. lol
Good info! Thanks for this. I have an irrelevant question but it's bugging me. While checking out you incredible setup - in between wiping the drool off my keyboard and pushing my mouth closed- I noticed you didn't have an exhaust fan on the side above the kingpin. Why is that? turbulence?

This one? It's cooling the heatsinks on the back of the card, see this thread: https://forums.evga.com/3090-Kingpin-others-Get-that-backside-VRAM-cool-m3219773.aspx If you're referring to the one below the card, that's blowing at 50% (quiet) on the M.2 drives to keep them cooler while gaming etc since my games are mostly on those. I just noticed my tubing looks like a DNA strand O_o and it's blood red coolant... unintentional but funny. Edit: Misread your question, LOL The way the Kingpin radiator tubes are now, a fan would try to eat them. Also, with the way I have positive pressure (6 intakes vs 3 exhaust), any hot air naturally finds it's way out of the case pretty quickly, so that fan isn't really necessary... much like my long time standing policy of having a RAM fan "isn't necessary" but I did like how it kept my RAM cooler... I'll have one again, eventually O_o once I get the system layout done with the cooling for sure.

It depends on the card for which you queued up. The 3060Tis, Hybrids and Kingpin queues have all serviced registrants with December timestamps. The card queues that started in September, October and November, they are mostly still in their launch month (except the 3090 Ultras have moved from September to October). So, again, it depends on which card you queued up for. Here is the latest summary for North America: Notify Queue Summary. I hope that helps. Best of luck!

Why do you think so? Does it mean that I do not have to worry about e-mail this week? Maybe it is a stupid question, but I have no experience buying card via EVGA waitlist.

It's just an assumption, don't take my word for it and it's coming from the fact that till this hour nobody from EU received any notification as far as I can see. We can just wait and see
