It's not so new; It was announced back in October. We'd be a lot better off if other AIBs and tech companies adopted a similar process to fight the bots.

Forgot to mention, my email came at 9:49am, it was:

24G-P5-3998-KR12/16/2020 9:18:04 AM PTYes

What I really want is this:
10G-P5-3888-KR12/10/2020 9:13:13 AM PTNo

I guess we'll see if I get an option to buy it before April.

If I do I'll sell the King (slightly used) at cost (I'll make a post in this thread at that time so I know it doesn't go to a scalper).

For anyone impatient. You can check your local botter/scalper inventory for a card being sold equal to the new mfr higher MSRP and actually save money in future sales tax as a scalper isn't going to charge you sales tax. I got a 3070 from a scalper recently because I impatient and actually saved ~$60 on sales tax at new msrp price. I'm keeping my queue places though for my friends who didn't get into queue early enough to not be 60 by the time they get a notify. But actually... looking at movement, I'll probably be 60 years old too before my queue places get notified haha.
08G-P5-3667-KR 12/1/2020 7:13:16 AM PT. Is their a way I can give you my spot for the 3060 Ti FTW3 Ultra? I got my email for the 3663 XC one yesterday so I have no use for this one I'm not a scalper.

Actually one question for you Enewt,  you seem to be the ring leader here ha. But I have a notification for a 3080 xc3 ultra hybrid and I wanted to see if you knew the last time one was sold in the queue and when the set up the notification. Thanks

I also have a question for ring leader enewt. How is your own queue moving for the one you would like? I haven't seen you mention yours. Just curious. I hope you get yours soon!

Hey enewt did you see my post earlier on my thinking of what the numbers in the sku mean

I did see it. I agree that the first number is for the 30 series. Second number is the family 90, 80, etc. After that, I think your theory breaks down a bit (i.e,. for the third digit)...why is the 3090 and the 3080 FTW3 Ultra's third digit different. Final digit...8s are hybrid, 9s are HC. I haven't spent a lot of time thinking about it...so I am likely wrong.

I'd kill to take over your spot for the 3667. I'm desperate for a 3060 Ti. Is it possible to transfer?

Sadly, no.  Not unless you let you recipient take over your evga account to make the transaction (this is not something I recommend by the way)....

Ring leader has such a nefarious connotation, no?  I prefer community member.

And, to answer your question, I am waiting on the HC...although my resolve is weakening...a hybrid would also work after some reworking of the plan.  This wasn't the original plan, mind you, but given how much time I have had to think about things...4+ months (and that is time period AFTER I naively thought I would be able to purchase a gpu)...well, the plan has morphed several times over.  I am cognizant that I am overthinking it, but...if this is the way of the future for tech launches...this may be the last build I ever do (having to go through this again would likely kill me; I am not a spring chicken anymore).

Thanks for your kind words; I hope the qc issues with the HCs gets resolved asap and this all gets back on track.

As an aside, my original plan was a 30 series air-cooled card and I was able to buy that...but my older brother's card died and he doesn't have a back-up (I, at least, have a 3-yr old gaming laptop that I have been able to use for Rocket League (47 fps for the win!)...).

Cause the 90 and 80 take more power then 70 and 60 look at power plugs required tdp and clock target, possible less power phase lower in the cards you go

Most of the 60 ti and 70 are around 5 and 6 for 200 220 watts power tdp
Also kingpin messes with 90 cards lol

Kingpin is only 90 card with 9 for third digit
also has highest power target and power phase design for that super LN2 cooling support and almost 2K clock from factory lol

I tell my brother that every time he scores on me in Rocket League.  But he's a frontline worker (hospital doc) and, at the time, he was in desperate need of an escape after coming home from work last fall and to not have a functioning gaming pc of any kind...I had to give it to him.

I think the 3080 cards at the top IE HC hybrid and ftw3 ultra are maxing out the power available from 3 power connectors hitting higher clocks then the 90s, with the 3090s having same power input but more chip to power they hit a lower clock target in real usage hence the 8 for third digit with kingpin maxing out the clock with its best chip bin

Re: New EVGA.com Notification Checkout Process 2021/01/19 18:09:07 (permalink)
Well for some card queues, the promised Tuesday storm did not disappoint. The 3090 FTW3 Ultra continues cruising along, now that it is past both periods of registration congestion. The 3080 FTW Ultra is through its launch window congestion and is accelerating towards the 10/5 roadblock (queue system announcement...should last 10/5 and morning of 10/6). Others queues received sizable drops too...notably the K|NGP|N queue that received at least 37 benchmark behemoths. But, some queues remain underserved...I am looking at you 3090/3080 Gaming and Gaming Blacks....

As of 6:05 pm PT Tuesday evening, January 19, this is the status of the North American queues (bolded font represents movement from the morning of Tuesday, January 19; italicized parentheticals calculate the length of movement):

Could be that the third digit is the level of the chip bin relative to the target card like 80s having the 3897 3898 3899 being best bins

I think I was schooled for signing up for a low max power card (24G-P5-3978-KR 1/9/2021 11:45:01 AM PT No) earlier in this thread. Apparently having only two power connectors I can kiss oc'ing that bad boy goodbye... The way I see it the 3978 is already out of my comfort zone for how much I want to pay for a card, and it will probably max my 144hz 1440P screen as well the the 90hz Oculus Quest 2... So all good.

For your usage its prob a bit overkill for all but Cyberpunk lol, so its better target for you, plus it wont have all that extra power trying to clock itself higher when you dont need it, running cooler and quieter

Will this new process stop bots?

It's not so new; It was announced back in October. We'd be a lot better off if other AIBs and tech companies adopted a similar process to fight the bots.

The queue process does prevent bot buy-ups of stock from here, but it doesn't prevent scalping. You are free to flip your purchase. Though EVGA put limits on how many of each card you can buy.

That said, I have seen a lot of people here with almost every skew in queue...that may be so they can get their hands on any GPU ASAP...or it can be so they can flip their buys as they become available. It is not a perfect system.

On the topic of the ethics of scalping. Yes, there are POS who do this to get rich. There are also people who've lost their jobs and are flipping what they can hoping to make rent and provide for their families until better times come.

The people who pay 3 times MSRP for a GPU are people who used to go to their offices, but now find they are asked/allowed to work from home and find they like video games, and can afford $3k-$5k to get what they want.

I'm signed up for both the 3080 hybrids, and they would probably be better fits for my gaming needs (apart from 10 gig ram for Skyrim VR....), but those queues are so long and barely moving so I've stopped holding my breath. In fact I probably have a mental list of around 10-12 cards that would do the trick, a lot of them on my f5 monkey routine between posting here to stay sane(ish).

Fair points. I think EVGA had a blank slate in front of them and they made some pretty good decisions.  They allowed for one unit per sku, so folks could get multiple cards if they had multiple mouths to feed in their gaming household (having to choose between little betty, little johnny or your spouse...for your one unit (even forgetting about yourself for a moment) would have been really challenging) and yet also so that it wasn't such a free for all that scalpers could buy multiple units of the same card and become professionals.  I imagine it is inefficient to wait for your name to come up, then buy one unit, then scalp it, then wait for your name to come up again....those folks are not the folks that are flooding ebay, xstock, facebook marketplace, etc. with units...but each time I see a unit up on those sites, it smarts a bit....

At this rate, it will catch up with my 3898 sometime next week which seems to have been stuck for several weeks now:
