Congrats on the cards!  To be on the safe side, I'd wait til Amazon has shipped it to you to remove yourself from the queues on here, if you're close to the bubble - that way if there's some delay with Amazon, you're not losing your spot for nothing.

My wife (who has been an unwilling spectator to the madness of GPU hunting the past few months), said the exact same thing. I'm surprised she picked up that much considering she could care less.

I was able to land one as well but it was being buggy and took a lot of tries. Does yours having a shipping date? I just get “we’ll email you when we have an estimate”

I saw an estimate for the end of the month. I’m ok with that. I’m hoping sooner.

At the same time, here, we are guaranteed to *eventually* get one, unlike the other storefronts where...
1. To be mashing F5 all day.
2. Hope the website isn't overloaded when they get stock
3. Hope there's still stock while you go through the checkout process.

Gamer's Nexus said in a previous HW News video that some Manufacturers expect a big dump of cards by the end of December; but didn't name names. Hopefully EVGA is in this.

Just got EVGA 3080 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING from Amazon drop 50 minutes ago. My wait is officially over, unless order will cancel, fingers crossed. Drop lasted around 2 minutes. I am not a bot. I bought as soon as I saw "Buy it now" button was active. I waited 3 long months. I am on a queue for 3080 Gaming, registered on 9/16/2020 at 3:23:44 PM PT, but unfortunately EVGA did not even start production on these. Lesson learned - sign for notify for the most expensive card from now on.

I'm not stk97, but I was able to score one from the egg a few days ago, and just had hotstock notifications going. Saw the notification alert while chilling watching some YouTube, clicked it, and well, the rest is history. (used PayPal at checkout)

Understandable.  I'm sure it would irritate just about everyone - but like I said in a previous post, eVGA are contractually obligated to provide a number of GPUs to retailers, both actual storefront types & online sources like Newegg & Amazon, as far as I understand it, so they don't really have the choice of "oh we're not going to send Amazon any because they don't have any anti-bot measures".  I WISH they would do that, but I don't think they can without legal issues, which I'm sure they don't want or care to deal with right now, because it's not negatively effecting their profit margin.
As crapoli as that is from a customer perspective, it's business.

Oh sure. I get it. That’s why I’m more Lite Sea Salt salty and not country cow-lick salty.

Re: New EVGA.com Notification Checkout Process 2020/12/16 20:39:11 (permalink)
I've seen "MSRP" used a few times in this thread to mean the low-end target price point for an entire product line (ex. $699.99 for 3080), and while I really don't enjoy being "that guy," I'd hate to see it lead to confusion when discussing prices.

MSRP is not a single all-encompassing target price point for all cards in a product line. In the case of 3080, MSRP does not mean $699.99 for every card. MSRP is the suggested price for each product as set by manufacturers like EVGA. Each card variant (aka SKU) has it's own MSRP (ex. while the MSRP for the 3080 Founder's Edition is $699.99, the MSRP for the 3080 FTW3 Ultra is $809.99, XC3 Ultra is $769.99, etc.).  So when when people have been saying nVidia requires AIB manufacturers to offer a 3080 card "at MSRP," what they actually mean to say is that nVidia requires them to offer a 3080 card with an MSRP of $699.99 (although EVGA cheated a little bit by setting an MSRP of $729.99 for the 3080 XC3 Black, but then initially offering it for $30 off until they met the required quota).

I just don't want people thinking that "MSRP" means $699.99 for all 3080s because then when someone mentions something like B&H offering the Asus 3080 TUF OC for $50 over MSRP, they might be confused as to why that's overpriced because they think that means $749.99, when it actually means $799.99, or think that an $809.99 3080 FTW3 Ultra is $110 over MSRP when it's not - it's exactly MSRP.

I will now await my rightly deserved beating for being "that guy."

When I won the F5 war I was using the Datalover feed on YouTube, they also have a Discord channel too which was about 5 seconds off. The alarm was loud.

Octoshop (which I recommend anyway for everyday use) will alert you for New Egg about 10 mins before a drop, never a specific product but something like "3080 Graphic Cards." Although for Best Buy they always seem to be minutes late.

Re: New EVGA.com Notification Checkout Process 2020/12/16 20:46:35 (permalink)
At a glance, I just saw a dozen listings on Ebay offering EVGA 3080 Hybrids. Hmm, I wonder what % of the time stamps are being held hostage by scalpers looking to make an extra $100-200. After fees, that's about all they are getting for a 3080.

Look, massive faceless retailers like Amazon don't care about scalpers. Newegg doesn't care either. Not only do they encourage scalping, but they profit from it.... just in case anyone is still confused as to which side of the issue they are on. Besides, where else are you going to go, the other retailer that doesn't care about scalpers either? These cards are not being offered through very many outlets which makes it easier for them to take advantage of the ensuing bottleneck.

Getting caught up on the last couple pages and seeing that I missed a stock drop of 3080 FTW3 Ultras on Amazon. I had Hotstock alerts set up, but I got no notifications at all. :(

The quest continues as I pray that my elderly 980 will hang on for another day.

I'm still running a 980 as well. I'm less than 6 minutes away in the queue for a 3080 FTW hybrid, but I'm guessing that will translate to February, or maybe January if I'm lucky. We'll see, I have a feeling that I will end up in a queue for a 3080ti before I get a purchase link for the hybrid.

Careful of cancelling your notify if you got a card off of Amazon.  I had a confirmed card about three weeks ago with a two week delay to shipping.  They cancelled my card a week before it was going to ship.

That being said, those of you who managed to grab one I wish you luck.

Depends.

Are people buying various SKUs because they are interested in the engendered differences that seem to justify their price difference - or are people buying anything they can get their hands on and the higher price is acting functionally as an increase in MSRP?

I for one would be happy to pay 800 for a water cooled solution - and don’t care about chip binning. This means I’m getting a deal if I get the 3888 and paying more than I would if products were available if I get the 3898.

In either case I would be very happy to get a 3080 that I’m officially not paying a scalper for. My 3070 is falling short of an acceptable frame rate in Cyber Punk on my ultra wide.

No, MSRP is set by NVIDIA. The msrp for a 3080 is $699. If EVGA(or any board partner) wants to put a lift kit on the card or some fat rims and call it a "FTW" edition, that does not change MSRP. I am not suggesting that NVIDIA board partners are going overboard with AIB pricing. Looking at what EVGA is planning on charging for Hydrocoppers, I would say that is pretty fair. Looking at what Powercolor is charging for Red Devils, I would say that is bordering on scalping. No need to muddy the waters. MSRP is what it is and should be the baseline to judge what AIB's are charging.

I'm buying any 3080 that I can get my hands on at this point. I passed on an air cooled 3080 in November when the hydro copper was announced, but then it got delayed and I got faked out as a result. My time stamp for the air cooled had already come and gone by then. Once I realized that I would have to spend another $400+ to get a decent tube kit, my infatuation with the HC ended pretty abruptly. Not having any other options, I got back in the queue for the air cooled on 12/3 knowing that it was hopeless since the queue for that card has barely advanced from the 9/17 launch date. It's in the 8am hour of 9/18 at the moment. Soon after that, I had a shot at buying a 3090 XC hybrid and could have had it in hand by now, but I don't want to spend that much on a card. I'm not a developer, I don't need that much VRAM. As of now I'm chasing a 3080 FTW Hybrid. If I get a buy link for it I am getting it without question. No more ******* around. However, as I mentioned above, if a 3080ti is announced before I get the hybrid I will likely go that way. I would rather have that than a 3080HC and an overpriced tube kit.
