About the only thing worse was when it was 1 second off at the start of the Christmas break...that was a dooooooozy.  
 
You are the new canary for that queue...hopefully you will "drop" on Monday.

Sure , I went to the Microcenter in Georgia. For the issue with the lines they have there own queue system. below are the details 
 
1. go to the store around 8:10am 
2. there will be a QRcode, this will place you in the line randomly 
3. they tell you you wait in your car, and then when it's your time , you'll get a text message 
4. You have five minutes to walk to the store to claim your voucher 
5. You will select  the card you want and the salesperson will write down your name on your voucher 
6. Wait for the store opens at 10am
 
The whole process is pretty streamlined, because there were fist fights before.

Question for you all…. I know once you’ve get the email for your card you have 8 hours until it expires…

My brother got his email for the 3897 on Friday, (yesterday) But he unfortunately found out that EVGA doesn’t accept Discover cards.. so now he has to wait until Monday or Tuesday for his funds to get transferred from his one bank to the other. Does anyone know if EVGA would allow an exception for something like this since it’s beyond 8 hours? Is there an email he could use to reach out and explain his situation? I feel bad for him since he’s been waiting since September 2020 to get one of these cards, only to find out at the last moment he can’t buy one within the 8 hour window.

Got in que 9/17 just got my email Tuesday for the ftw3 3080 ultra will be here monday. Dont give up hope. I stoped looking for a card 6 months ago figured I'll wait on 4080s cause 30 series will be out for a while. I was surprised I got the notification. Been using evga since they've been making video cards and plan to use them till I die.

u wont see any notice any difference from a 3080.... i have a g7 32 in... and a acer 3440 x 1440p..... and im getting above 3090 numbers from benchmarks ive seen on youtube.... i dont know how real those numbers are... but i highly doubt a 3080ti or a 3090 is a noticable difference..... i mean its debatable. im talking from what ive seen. not to mention im also overclocked most the time 2160 to 2265 depending on game.... i think the overclocking makes up the difference...

Don’t really understand why you’re trying to talk people out of getting the card they actually want. But … I mean … no. There’s a significant difference between a 3080 and a 3080Ti. And the 3090 gets so much more performance out of even a small OC.
You’re not getting 19747 Timespy score with a 3080 unless it’s cooled on nitrogen.

Time spy doesn't really matter in real life and the 3080 does pretty on it. At 1440P the 3080 should be good for some time. At 3440x1440 and 4k there could be VRAM limitations not many currently but that will likely be more common in the years to come. From what I noticed the only game Ive seen hit over 8GB at 1440P (not just allocation) is Cypberpunk at native 1440P but you only get 25-30 FPS anyways so I generally would play with DLSS quality mode on which then uses a lot less VRAM. 
 
3080TI/3090 will bench better and have a longer life 3440x1440, 4K and 8K,   Real world gaming at 1440P the 3080 is fine.  

Pretty much agree with all of this.  TimeSpy IS a good indication of CPU and graphical performance in general, and of future performance in particular (future defined as "based on what we know now".)
The 3080 is the best price/performance card of this generation, which is why having it as such a UNICORN is so frustrating.  When I began this journey last July, when my faithful 780Ti died a glorious death, my plan was to upgrade my PC and my wife's PC with 3080s and modern CPUs for a relatively modest build price.  Obviously, that plan went awry.
The 3080 is a great 1440p card, hands down.  The limitations of the 3080Ti and 3090 at 2K, however, are generally engine or CPU related.  They are better cards now, and will continue to be top contenders for years to come.  That said, they are stellar at the most demanding GPU-heavy games of this gen, at both 2K and 4K.
My issue isn't with the idea that the 3080 is a great card, but with the notion that getting the TI or 90 is somehow less desirable because someone clearly wants them to be so.

The quickest 3090 variant would be keeping your 3080 TI the are basically the same thing and vary close variants of the same die. 

Yep.  Wife's 3080 Ti FTW performs very closely to my 3090 FTW.  Unless you're a content creator wanting to stick with a single card (or a game developer) the only card I would recommend upgrading to from there is the Kingpin.  And you can't (unfortunately) step-up to the Kingpin.
I would instead recommend getting the Hybrid kit for better low end performance and full load thermals.
