didn't stop the site being hammered for the 3080ti HC and kingpin HC drop (on 6/15) the biggest difference was the site. not the demand.

Torawin So I've never done a custom WC loop before, just used the closed loop EVGA CPU cooler solution. If I do get chosen for the HydroCopper cards, what exactly do I need to buy? Newegg or Amazon links would be perfect, since it does not look like EVGA makes a kit to complete these themselves.
If you are thinking a loop is a little more than you want to do if you get the XC3 version of either card you can use https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=400-HY-1978-B1 You of course still have to remove the HydroCopper block and backplate and install the hybrid kit but a lot less than installing a full loop for your first time. If you have elite status you get $20 off the top of the hybrid cooler and if you use at least someone's associate code, you'll get another 10% off its like $80
Would this work? You obviously won’t get as efficient cooling, but is it that easy of a remedy?

I'm surprised by the amount of people surprised (ha) by the responsiveness of the site today during the HC card queues. I don't expect demand to be anywhere near what the air-cooled or hybrid coolers are. Even scalpers on fleabay are selling HC cards for the same price as the non-HC. It was interesting to see someone post that they're considering their first custom loop build just to take advantage of the lower demand (and maybe better availability, we'll see) of the HCs. I don't have the patience to jump into that but kudos to them for taking the leap.

no lack of demand for the 3080ti HC cards or the kingpin HC cards which brought the site to it's knees all the same. "better availability" is quite funny though. the only models with worse availability than the HC cards are the launch-only base-MSRP-price cards. the $1500 3090, the $1200 3080ti, the $700 3080, and so on.

EVGA likely has a few last registrants to service from the 11/13 queues and then will turn to the 6/23 registrants within each queue. I expect the 6/23 registrants to get around 50% of what would be a normal launch drop. In short, I doubt any of the queues makes it to :19 today. I hope I am wrong and I wish you the best of luck!

BassTek 6/15 also had the 3070 ti XC3 Ultra which was the cheapest open 3070 ti queue at the time.
and yet the HC queue still filled with hundreds of entries. the difference was the site. NOT the demand. there's zero evidence that demand was lower. and with all the reports of HC card notify times, lots of evidence that demand was the same. hell, I was less than 30 seconds in on the more expensive FTW3 3080 HC card, and there are STILL over 50 people ahead of me that are verified. and probably over 100 in reality. 100 people for a HC card in less than 30 seconds. the demand is still there.

When they ripen a bit more I'll take a few pics of the Strawberries, Mrs Byg makes jam and tarts etc. In France they sow marigolds between the plants as apparently it keeps bugs/slugs at bay. I just use my freeloading feathered neighbours. 😁 The IPA is Irish Pale Ale. Small brewers are popular in Ireland and I usually pick up a few bottles when shopping. Querky looking bottles usually taste the best. Almost sixteen-thirsty pm, beer time.😄 MDSutton

Back_Yard_Gamer The sewer pipe was repaired and credit where credit is due the guys made a very neat job of it. The guy with the remote-camera carried out an inspection an hour ago and gave it the Thumbs up, meanwhile my noisy feathered neighbors are gorging themselves silly on the grass seed. Strawberries, raspberries apples all doing well but plums are sparse this year. methos12 I'm surprised by the amount of people surprised (ha) by the responsiveness of the site today during the HC card queues. All of my friends have custom builds and of them all I know of only one which has a custom loop rig that could take a HC.

I thought there were other cards launched on that day as well? If it was only those then perhaps over-eager scalpers who didn't realize they were only HC cards being launched? I doubt there were any changes to their site for today's launch, did you have a better theory as to why there weren't issues today but there were issues for that previous HC launch date? By better availability I was implying that it was commensurate with its availability. I know they're not making anywhere near the number of HC cards as non-HC, but when compared to the demand it seems like the previous HC SKUs have progressed further into their queues (by date) than non-HC.

I know they're not making anywhere near the number of HC cards as non-HC, but when compared to the demand it seems like the previous HC SKUs have progressed further into their queues (by date) than non-HC.
after every F5-spam-fest of a launch with a crashing website, EVGA reported back that they tweaked the website for a better experience. they are constantly making improvements. so yes, there is reason to believe they changed something on the backend to better handle the load. that's why the experience was better today. if you look at the elemen35 queue, there are hundreds of entries for the HC cards today. all within the first minute. such queue fill rate wasnt even possible before because of the failing website. but was today, because the website could handle it now.

ericbartman has the 3080ti well dried up? Just wondering as the time has literally moved in seconds for last 2 weeks.
More coming SOON™ It's to be expected that there will be a delay after the initial launch day shipments.

Reading all the posts from those still waiting on the initial 30 series launch, I'm expecting months waiting on a Ti and I thought I had some decent times other than 3785. That was a cluster. I would have also gone for an air cooled card first had I known the hybrids take much longer to go out. I don't think so, we just hit the post-7:40 period where more and more people were able to consistently sign up after the 7:30 deadzone.

I was hitting refresh and waiting for the page load to timeout ever since the queues were supposed to have opened. I didn't manage to get myself on the notify list until about 8:08 PDT. I was hoping that enough other people were unable to load the page that I wasn't too far behind in the line. But I guess only time will tell at this point how "bursty" those signups were.
