Looks like Newegg hasn't had a 3080 in 2 weeks now. At least EVGA has sold something to the que list.

Any substantial difference between XC3 Ultra and FTW ultra 3080 if not overclocking?

In my opinion, FTW3 is really for over clockers. If you aren't planning to spend time tweaking things, than the XC3 Ultra (or Gaming or Black) will work just fine.

fixing the web site and adding anti bot measurements i would have praised them  , Changing web master or switch to a big server no  ??? Money money money

even the zotac store with 2 core server worked better and had more drops then evga

Yep. History repeats itself and they still don't get it...this happens with every GPU launch. They sound like a bunch of entitled cry babies who want everything now now now. I'm just glad I'm in the notify list to get the card I would like to have so I can give the asus 3090 I have to my brother. I was on Newegg and getting a few m.2 drives in the Newegg business and I said for giggles I punched in a 3090 and tuf was there to add to cart. Checked out and bam 3 days later it was delivered. It was dumb luck. I know 3090 is overkill for alot of games but it has put my engineering workflow in overdrive. Rendering full buildings and drawings incredibly fast. I took it for a spin in msfs2020 and no longer a gpu bottle neck in the sim but instead it says my overclocked 10900k is bottlenecked 🤣.

I do think you have a legitimate point.  That said, I also think some perspective might be healthy.  No company has been able to defeat the bots.  I've literally been watching sites since launch and even when I've been lucky enough to be watching the moment when cards drop, I have still been unable to get one.  Even places like Amazon, which has the best tech in the business, can't fight off the bots.

So I think many of us appreciate a system where we can wait in line instead of scouring websites all day everyday.  (And because of apparent love of masochism, I still continue to do in spite of being in the queue.)

I completely understand people don't like this system either, but let's not discount those who prefer this.  Based on what I'm reading there is a lot of us.

Not that it matters, but I'm not happy about this situation either and also very frustrated.  I've been sitting on parts for a month and unfortunately, I would not have purchased them if I knew GPU launches were like this.  That's on me.  But at least I feel like EVGA has been communicative and is at least doing something.  If I like a product I will be loyal to them and I was hoping that would be EVGA.  That said, if I can't get the product I will go elsewhere if I can get it elsewhere.  But I'm not going to be angry about it.

I definitely prefer the queue. Having a certain day locked in feels infinitely better than trying to set up a bot to grab a card. It's even more assuring considering i don't need a 3080 tomorrow. It can wait a couple weeks which lines up well with the queue system in my case.

Re: New EVGA.com Notification Checkout Process 2020/10/21 22:48:49 (permalink)
The preorders - sorry, I meant queues that are definitely not just a preorder system with extra steps, stay salty Nvidia - are what most stores should have done and do in the future. It works better the more that do it, because it distributes burden equally. Right now, most people playing the F5 game still can't get cards, so it ends up being a lottery you have to put a lot of time and effort in to just play, which is ridiculous.

I've seen people wait at microcenter lines for hours and days, I've seen people on reddit proudly talk about how they spent the entire day staring at a storefront hitting f5 and finally getting a card. That's unhealthy consumerism and nothing to be proud of.

The queue system won't benefit people at the tail end and the current implementation has some serious issues in the longterm (what are they gonna do with the 3070s when they have 70,000 notifications timestamped at the exact second of launch?), but considering the alternatives, it's best thing we have this launch atm.

Those who have jobs and lives and can't sit there f5ing all day or camping out in front of microcenter can just wait until it's their turn and not stress about it. Yeah, the queue is god-awful slow, but it's no worse than the drip-drops of cards instantly selling out elsewhere.

I'm still holding on to the hope that the release of budget cards will make things go smoother. A lot of people don't really need a 3080 and will gladly skip on by if the 3070 or AMD cards are readily available. Scalpers will have a much harder time cornering the market, and prices are already slowly dropping as the desperate buy out and diminish in number, so we should see bots becoming less of a problem starting November too.

I have been trying since launch to get a card.  Refreshed a million times, scoured every source for tips/leads, got close a few times, but could not seal the deal.  I have spent 5 weeks now (?) and countless hours trying to "beat the bots"...  And I am no closer using brute force.

On launch day however, I went to EVGA first, because I prefer EVGA and have always gone with their products...  Unfortunately, the site was down and I had to work.  I was not able to check back until mid-afternoon EST.  The site was up at that time, so I clicked Notify Me for both 3080 Ultras.  Fast forward to today, this is the ONLY tangible thing I have done that's actually panned out in my chase for the 3080.  And what's more, that effort only took about a minute of my time.

For everyone who is complaining about slow queues and only Ultras, grow up.  EVGA is doing what they can to help solve a mess they did not create.  I will keep trying to score a card in the wild, because I like the hunt, but for anyone who just wants to sit back and wait, there is not a single thing you should be complaining about that should be directed towards EVGA.  You have a spot in line where you are not fighting a million bots, assigned by a fair method, what more do you want?  My guess is whatever system that puts you first, whatever that may be...  Nonsense.

I will wait my turn and be thankful that a sure thing is on its way, however long it takes.

Good luck and fast queues to all!

Question for the EVGA mods: once we get notified and we get that purchase link, is it private? Is it on site or off site? Will international cards be accepted or will Paypal be a payment option?

I actually asked this in a separate thread but never really got a clear answer (about the payment part). I live outside the US and I have a sister in CA who works as a nurse. She will be home sometime February next year and I was planning on shipping my GPU to her address in the States. I've never bought directly from EVGA before: this'll be the first time if all goes well. So I am curious to know if international cards will work or not.

My experience has been pretty much identical. I've been aggressively looking since launch, had 15 times I nearly got through checkout, and twice where I did but got subsequent emails telling me they couldn't fulfill my order.
I'm thankful EVGA did this setup. I'm not slated to potentially get a card until around November 11th, but at least I have some inkling of an idea.
Months ago, I saved $1600 to get a new GPU, and maybe another computer part. Luckily, the 3080's are reasonable, and now I can also potentially grab a 5900x also. If I had to go through Ebay or whatnot, it would eat all that money up for no reason. So, I'm happy even if I have to wait.

LOL... seriously .. for most of the last 12 months if you wanted a 2080 Super you had to pay above list or get a lower end card.  We went from that to no availability at all for the new tech and now you can't even get a new 2080 Super or a Ti.. they don't exist.

This is way worse then it was before.

this queue its just crap didnt fix any issue . The ftw3 take forever and the queue from the xc3 black 3080 and 3090 hasnt even started yet. What a joke shame on Evga been 3 week still at 9am 17th toke one month for 2 hours

Find someplace else to go complain. No one here wants to hear it and the purpose of this thread is not for you to vent. EVGA has gone far above what any other vendor has to level the field so gamers can get new cards.

America its free land for free speech.

Uhh a message board owned by a private company is not America. This is private, you are a guest here. They can boot you or silence you for whatever they want. Fact is you have choices. Choose where and what brand card you want and go wait/buy it. Complaining about availability isn’t going to make the cards get made faster. Do you think they are going to read this and say “you know what? He is right. Let’s stop the lines, and build him a card!” Manufacturing doesn’t work like that.

No offense, but the event you're describing happened to hundreds of thousands of customers. I would say almost 99% of every user on this board saw what was in your screen shot after going to check out with the product.

No offense, but the vent you're describing happened to hundreds of thousands of customers. I would say almost 99% of every user on this board saw what was in your screen shot after going to check out with the product.

I know, but desperate times call for desperate measures!
Just joking and trying to bring a bit of humor here :)

Didn't just happen once, twice or three times either. I have had items removed from my cart here, bestbuy and newegg. Only after suffering such event did I finally say, oh well I will just check the auto notify and hope I get a card one day. Then the queue was announced and I rejoiced because I no longer have to deal with the waking up at random times, spamming F5 or being angry about something getting taken out of my cart again.
