If only we could go back and let our past selves know not to only sign up for the queues your most desired cards.

What is the price we are paying for the 3080 FTW3 Ultra if we are in the queue since the beginning? I do not remember what the price was before they raised it on the website.

SirKronanBut to NOT acknowledge that at least some of the demand is ONLY CREATED IN ORDER TO MAKE MORE DEMAND is choosing to be blind to the facts. That's the demand that is frustrating, and that's the demand that is "artificial" demand. I'll try to explain simple: you and I both want to buy a one card in stock - there already huge demand and shortage. Now lets add scalper: looks like 3 guys want to buy card now - here is "artificial" demand. But what happens next, when scalper sell card and I bought it for overprice? I got he card, you don't. In reality demand still 2:1, not 3:1 - You can consider this situation like I "hired" scalper to buy card for me. As I said before: it is a matter of distributing, not a matter of availability. Without scalper in example above lucky guy will by the card, with scalper richest guy will buy the card. All scalpers will magically disappear as soon as nVidia will be able supply enough chips. SirKronanEven miners create. No, their just waste electricity that is very bad for environment! Cryptocurrency - is a religion. Value is based only on believe. Nothing else.

Regardless of how emotional and frustrated you are about not being able to purchase the GPU that you want, the fact remains that people will act in rational self interest. Sure, I would prefer that people would act in an economically irrational manner (oh look, I bought an extra GPU that I don't need anymore... I'll just list it on ebay for what I purchased it for... $1300 less than what I could get for it at current 3rd party market rates... THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN), that's just not realistic. Sure, it is frustrating, but scalpers do serve a purpose, whether right or wrong in your or anyone else's opinion it's just not the purpose that benefits you. If someone needs a GPU, they are going to purchase the GPU regardless of the cost (you could always start mining and justify the cost), it just happens that you are on the opposite side of the market. It would be great in a perfect world if 'scalpers' were not allowed to thrive, but it is a product of market forces and literally basic supply and demand. Attempts to 'ban' or restrict 3rd party sellers is a slippery slope.. where does it end? I could be considered a scalper for trying to sell my extra 1080 TI for $50 more than I bought it for 2 years ago? Or could I just be trying to get as much as I can to put towards a 3090 that I need for my work regardless of the cost? What if I had some left over parts again because I decided to not finish my 3rd build and wanted to sell them new, unopened in box? There is no way to try to 'ban' or restrict 3rd party sellers and even if that happened there would just be another site pop up overnight where people could sell their items. Just about like anything else, litigation usually only targets the first layer of the issue, and creates several more issues in it's wake.

Guys! EVGA is providing this forum at no cost to us. Please stop the squabbling before EVGA decides it doesn't need the grief and closes the forum down. Then, we'd have even less information than we do now. Scalping is legal even though many think it is immoral. Everyone here knows it is legal and no-one here is going to convince anyone else on the morality issue. So, PLEASE knock of the unproductive and possibly counterproductive bickering. I am as impatient to get a card as anyone else, but being nasty on here is not going to get me a card any faster.

I've been watching this thread for a very long time and I have signed up myself since October. The fact is, I went to Microcenter near me multiple times after this program was launched and I was surprised to see more EVGA cards being available in-store (granted you have to be there super early to potentially get one) than any other brand, when EVGA is creating a sign-up program for notification. If EVGA is shipping out that many cards to stores then it sounds to me that we on the notification list are a lower priority. There are people that got in line at a store few hours before it opened and were able to get the card that you signed up for back in September. 7 months wait period (and counting) for a GPU is ridiculous and the fact that EVGA is shipping cards as usual means that the loyal base has no priority whatsoever. I'm sure if you got the card through this system, you'll probably be super happy to stand up for it. But again, a 7 month wait for a card and a small window for notification is a method to drug customers and keep them "happy" knowing that you can't fulfill their needs.

Bora1114 Should I trust in economics or the opinions of frustrated individuals online?
If you think trusting economics is equivalent to condoning wild cash grabs looking to exploit the typical consumer - and thereby denying consumers the ability to buy a product from a legitimate retailer, I would suggest you trust the opinions of frustrated individuals online. For sure the way to curb it is to simply not buy from these third party sources, but there are people who cannot use a computer without a gpu (no discrete graphics). Another way to curb it is to stop spouting armchair economics to justify exploitative behavior.
Economics is a science, I will listen to the science over frustrated individuals. You're appealing to emotion to try and prove your point without providing factual statements. You're only exploited if you decide to purchase from the scalper. (Majority of these purchases are not made by the typical consumer) +90% of people that are looking for a new card don't need it, and it is a discretionary purchase. You have options to purchase a different card at this time, yes it is not the best technology, but it will run your system. That doesn't account for the people who are looking to upgrade their existing system, and if you sold your old graphics card before having the new one in hand then that is your own fault, and not the fault of a scalper.
