Another thing is those who need graphic cards because the current one no longer is working.  There are no cards available to buy so they are out of luck.  Not all cpu's have on-board graphics.  My Ryzen 9 3900xt has to have a dedicated graphics card.  If the card goes out, I'm done.  Can't use my computer period.  The problem is with scalpers.  They don't care if some kid has to scrape up a years worth of allowance, or an adult has to save up their pennies, so they can buy a card.  Bad enough the prices are high enough but scalpers are just outright ridiculous. The government made it illegal to scalp sports tickets (think it's a city ordinance and not a state law), but they ought to do that with computer parts.

You can buy new/used 2-4gb cards for under $250. I wouldn't call that unable to use your computer. The levels of entitlement are getting silly.

I'm needing an RTX card. And people are not being entitled.  There are processes that older cards can't handle. And I would call it unable to use my computer.  I'm not a kid who plays Minecraft or some cheesy game.  I'm an adult who uses graphic intense programs.  Cheap and old 2-4gb gpu's won't work.

Why do people need an RTX card? I see loads of work station cards available. Also RTX cards only became an issue late 2020. So said person only started to need RTX then? Wouldn't they already own a 20 series that was easy to get for a long time?

I need an RTX card to replace my GT 1030. It's not an important choice to get, but i'd rather get a card with a fairer price that I wouldn't need to update for another 10 or so years.

Couldn't agree more, all the old school HW forums are filled with cry babies who can't beat the bots and feel entitled to a card at MSRP. Guess what? Beat the bots or get in on the queue in the first few mins or it ain't gonna happen this year, period. Tough luck but this is not something you need to feed your kid so no one is going to regulate the market here apart from normal supply and demand forces, deal with it...I spent 31 days trying on and off before landing a card.

Oh joy, more debating about what someone else needs vs wants.  As if anyone on this forum is qualified in any way to tell someone else what they need.

There are a lot of people that have a belief that a totally free, unfettered market is the best way for an economy to be. While that may be true if the ONLY thing in life were the amassing of wealth. We as a society also value equality and life, not always above wealth, but sometimes. Deregulation played a massive part in the disaster that was the 2021 Texas snow storm/energy/plumbing crisis. 
 
I believe that most people here support the rules and regulation against ticket scalping for concerts and sporting events that were a scourge not too long ago. Where $35 front row tickets were mythical and because of corporate scalping those $35 tickets could only be found for 10x the MSRP. I think all of use would agree that largely, these tickets, and gpus for gaming, are luxury items, and not necessary for life. Why can we regulate scalping for tickets, but not for a higher priced item, no less of a luxury item, of gpus?

Just got my notification to purchase.

I stand by my previous assertion of how I miss us all getting along and sitting around a campfire waiting for cards as a team. All of this bickering makes me sad :(

I've been watching that Q for the last month. 3 hours of movement is a good day. 4 hours last Friday was the most I've seen so far. You're probably looking at late this week or early next week if they keep up the same pace as last weeks drops.
