prenga What really baffles me is that EVGA still let people use notify button knowing that they will never be able to fulfill it. For last 4 months people still singing for cards when they didn’t finish 1 day yet. 4000 series cards will show up before someone signed today gets their card.
This sounds pretty entitled. Go do the Newegg lottery then. At least you don't have to worry about the "first come, first serve" rule.

EVGA has tried it both ways. They've gotten complaints for having the auto-notify button lit even though it will take months to satisfy the already-existing queue. And they have tried turning on the auto-notify button for certain skus (the waterlogged hybrids and the KPE) only when they anticipate having inventory within a few weeks to satisfy those that would register through the button. In either case, they received complaints from consumers. Either folks wanted to click-through, knowing that it would be months...but not wanting to worry about getting on a list anymore, OR they only wanted to sign up if there was a realistic chance of getting a card in the very near term.... I don't blame them for keeping the button lit...seems like a reasonable choice when some portion of the community is going to be pissed either way....

Any idea of the timestamps on these notifies?

This. Having the queue and auto notify available is just better than not. Yes it gives some people a false sense of hope but it serves more people in a good way. Just being able to know there will be a card coming to you at some point is better than not. You can still go looking elsewhere in the mean time if you want. But knowing you don't have to is good too. I get it that it sucks if you feel like you signed up for something that never happens but it will eventually happen and better to have it than not. As time has gone on it's just gotten worse as more people sign up but GPU availability is still low.

Razorhog I'd like to think that the availability or unavailability of any particular SKU is due to the "silicon lottery". I don't really know anything about building AIB GPU cards, but it would make sense if they got a batch in and it just happens to be that most of the batch are suited to a particular SKU. Edit - my 100th post too!
I doubt it. Look at the spreadsheet. The ONLY units getting delivered (3080 wise) are the high end, high clock and high MARGIN units. The bottom of the road 3080 XC Black cards, well, I haven't seen a single one show on the spreadsheet as being delivered as of around Christmas. Lots and lots (relatively speaking!) of Ultras though! So if it was the "silicon lottery", we would have tons of the bottom of the barrel 3080s being delivered and only a few Ultras. Right now, it looks like every chip they get they can clock to the max and the sell it to max out their margins.

I thought Bitcoin miners use ASICs. Ethereum miners used GPUs. But I may be wrong. Just a gamer.

The 30s are (luckily) really power thirsty, so unless you have access to free energy there is a point where you will never make the crazed scalped prices back in a reasonable time frame. Another 30% decrease and I'm guessing cards wont go directly to miners.... not that that happens... Right?

Dabadger84 Edit: SIX? REALLY?!? :(
Looks like they had 8 for the self-reported list...which probably means around 15 units....
My brain does not comprehend how it's possible that a month of production resulted in 8-15 units, even if they're holding that many back for RMAs... 30 in a month? There's no way Kingpin yield is THAT low, that'd be ridiculous... not to mention the first two drops were over 100 cards. Each.
Dude, if we did work like these clowns then none of us would have a job. It's pathetic at best. They are clearly purposefully trickling out stock to make people want it more.

Hah! I caused the October 1987 crash by buying some USAA mutual fund shares a couple of days prior. I also only signed up for the 3881 because over the years (bought and registered my first EVGA card in 2002) I've found no guarantee of better performance from the higher priced SKUs. Apologies to others in that queue.

My apologies for this. I get tired of hearing people complaining about how the Notify queue is terrible. There is some hope with it. I'd rather have this queue the way it is rather than EVGA doing intermittent Notify queues when they have availability. Then you're coming back every so often to try to queue up before thousands of other people each time. There's plenty of that on other sites right now.

Agreed with the queue at least there's something to look towards the other end is - new egg's overpriced forced bundles and attempts to stopping bots akin to using a kleenex to stop a dam break then this bot lottery cause you know, no one would make multiple accounts - Best buy and schrodinger's card, the card is both in and not in your cart as it's both in and out of stock for an order that both online only and can't be picked up within 250 miles - Amazon is.... - microcenter which is a crap shoot I mean according to the last facebook ad EVERYTHING is in stock, [X to doubt] I have a buddy who went to one by him after seeing it instock online only to get there and they had none. He went karen mode so hard one materialized, apparently some microcenters are letting employees hold cards. - B&H which I appreciate they remind me that the card I have notifies for is still not in stock. This is the closest thing to a sure thing you can get, it's not perfect but with the alternatives...
